Looking Back

It was a week filled with individual milestones across the region. Geneva's Ryland Dunham reached 150 career goals on Tuesday, while a wave of players including Brighton's Austin Greece at LAGFlaum, HF-L's Jackson Coon, Rush-Henrietta's Zachary Winner, McQuaid's Domenic Giangreco, and HF-L's Nate Lathrop and James Sprague — all hit the 50 career goal mark at various points throughout the week. On the goalie side, Aquinas's Jake Gibson logged his 600th career save and Haverling's McLane Stermole recorded his 800th. Penfield's Brodie Joyce broke his program's all-time career assist record, while Geneva's Ryland and Jack Dunham each reached 50 career assists. Hunter Kurdziolek of Mynderse-Romulus was a standout performer, posting five goals in back-to-back games as his team earned its first win of the season.

On the team side, Pittsford remained the week's dominant force, improving to 9-0 with wins over Rush-Henrietta and Marcellus. Irondequoit delivered the most dramatic moment of the week, with Doug Velepec scoring in double overtime to edge McQuaid 9-8. McQuaid's John Burrows also came through in the clutch, scoring an overtime winner against Thomas and later Midlakes at Genevaposting five goals against Fayetteville-Manlius. Other highlights included Batavia-Notre Dame picking up its first win of the season and Canandaigua rallying with three fourth-quarter goals to edge Fairport. Penn Yan's Miles Ditzell led all individual scorers on Saturday with five goals in a dominant win over Ithaca.

Pittsford stayed unbeaten at 9-0 with a 14-8 win at Marcellus behind four goals from Avery Valenti, Canandaigua rallied with three fourth-quarter goals to edge Fairport 8-7, and McQuaid's John Burrows posted five goals in a 12-11 win over Fayetteville-Manlius. Rush-Henrietta's Zachary Winner also reached 50 career goals in a 16-6 win over Aquinas, while Penn Yan's Miles Ditzell led all scorers on the day with five goals in a 16-5 win over Ithaca.

FRIDAY - Friday's standout performances came from Penfield's Brodie Joyce, who broke the program's all-time career assist record (108) in an 11-7win over Orchard Park, and Geneva's Ryland and Jack Dunham, who each reached 50 career assists in the same game while combining for 10 goals in a 16-1 win over Essex. BH at WhitmanBatavia-Notre Dame picked up its first win of the season with an 18-3 victory over Gananda behind five goals from Trey Rodriguez and four each from Harold Mellander and Nolan Radley, while CNS handed Schroeder an 11-4 loss behind three goals from Adrian Sweeney. Mynderse-Romulus continued its strong stretch with a 9-4 win at Waterloo, with Hunter Kurdziolek posting five goals for the second straight game.

THURSDAY - McQuaid's John Burrows scored in overtime to edge Thomas 10-9 as Domenic Giangreco reached 50 career goals, while Brighton's Austin Flaum hit the same milestone with four goals in a 14-10 win at Pal-Mac. LAG's Jack Ackerman scored with 11 seconds left to edge Wayne 8-7, HF-L's Jackson Coon posted nine points in a 14-6 win over Midlakes where both Nate Lathrop and James Sprague also reached 50 career goals, and Mynderse-Romulus earned its first win behind eight goals from Hunter Kurdziolek. 

WEDNESDAY - There was just one game played today. Victor won 14-7 at Canandaigua behind six goals from Jackson Mead, three goals and two assists from Matthew Herendeen, and an 88% faceoff performance from Ricci. Zach Tortora (Spencerport) and Bear Wehrheim (Pittsford) were named Players of the Week

TUESDAY - Tuesday's biggest moment came from Irondequoit's Doug Velepec, who scored in double overtime to edge McQuaid Jesuit 9-8despite 25 saves from Jackson Paladino. Geneva's Ryland Dunham reached exactly 150 career goals in a 13-6 win over Midlakes, Pittsford stayed unbeaten at 8-0 with a 19-10 win over Rush-Henrietta behind five goals and three assists from Grant Lewis, and Brighton picked up its first all-time win over Penn Yan 12-11 behind three goals and two assists from Kiki Condon. CA at FairportAquinas's Jake Gibson recorded his 600th career save in an 11-4 win at Haverling, Schroeder's John Caricati surpassed 300 career faceoff wins in a loss to Fairport, and Hilton's Gianluca Auriuso posted seven goals in a 15-7 win over Fayetteville-Manlius in the programs' first all-time meeting. Bloomfield-Honeoye's Brayden Arber added seven goals in a 13-4 win over Waterloo, and Marcus Whitman's Tariku Blueye posted seven goals and four assists in a 17-2 win over Mynderse-Romulus. 

MONDAY - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo topped Greece Storm 11-8 Monday evening behind four goals and three assists from Will Schweitzer and one goal and four assists from Owen Schweitzer, with first varsity goals from Owen Schweitzer, Kolokouris, and Kabes and a first varsity assist from Auringer.

HAMBURG-4 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-7 - Honeoye Falls-Lima picked up a 7-4 non-league win over Hamburg on Saturday morning at home, scoring four goals in the third quarter to break open a 2-3 halftime deficit. The win gives HF-L a 3-3 all-time edge in a series that has been dead even since 2006.

For Honeoye Falls-Lima (5-1), senior Jackson Coon reached 50 career varsity goals with Eden at Greecetwo goals and three assists, pushing his total to 51. Junior Austin Schor added two goals, while senior Marco Vengoechea, senior Jayden Hillegeer, and Tanner Olin each chipped in one goal. Sophomore Benny Feinberg went eight-for-15 at the faceoff dot (53%). Junior Jason Bennett stopped 14 shots for a 78% save percentage in 48 minutes.    [ Story and BOX SCORE

PENN YAN-16 at ITHACA-5 - Penn Yan picked up a 16-5 non-league win at Ithaca on Saturday morning, scoring four goals in the first quarter and five more in the third to pull away. Seven different players scored for the Mustangs, who improve to 4-3 on the season.

For Penn Yan (4-3), junior Miles Ditzell led with five goals and two assists, while senior Tukker Fisher added three goals and one assist and sophomore Greyson Hathway contributed three goals. Senior Braden Fingar chipped in one goal and two assists, and senior Levi Fisher added two goals and one assist. Hathway went nine-for-24 at the faceoff dot (38%). SPENCERPORT-4 at HILTON-11 - Hilton picked up an 11-4 non-league win over Spencerport on Saturday morning at home, scoring three goals in the first quarter and six more in the third, including five in under two minutes, to pull away. The win Eden at Greeceextends Hilton's winning streak to five games and gives the Cadets a 12-6 all-time edge against Spencerport.

For Hilton (7-1), senior Cahlan Smith and junior Tyler Reger each led with three goals, with Smith adding two assists. Junior Kyle Taddeo chipped in two goals, and sophomore Drew Brien and junior Gianluca Auriuso each added one goal. Sophomore Lucas Grizzanti went 10-for-16 at the faceoff dot (63%). Sophomore Brendan Maxwell stopped seven shots for a 64% save percentage in 48 minutes.

AQUINAS-6 at RUSH-HENRIETTA-16 - Rush-Henrietta picked up a 16-6 non-league win over Aquinas on Saturday afternoon at home, scoring three goals in the first quarter and building from there. Eight different players scored for the Royal Comets, who improve to 3-5 on the season.

For Rush-Henrietta (3-5), senior Preston Jackson led with five goals, while sophomore Myles Weaver added four goals and three assists. Junior Brayden Towner contributed two goals and one assist, and sophomore Zachary Winner added one goal, reaching 50 career varsity goals in the process. Luke Lippincott, Ronin Walker, Anthony Valenti, and Tyler Cleveland each chipped in one goal. Junior Dominic Hillin was perfect in goal for 12 minutes.

For Aquinas (4-4), freshman Kellan Campe and senior Caleb Wood each led with two goals, while senior Jack Bell added one goal and two assists. Sophomore Bryce Miller went 17-for-26 at the faceoff dot (65%). EDEN-16 at GREECE STORM-4 - Eden handed Greece Storm a 16-4 non-league loss Saturday morning at Athena, with Greece Storm unable to overcome a significant deficit. Despite the loss, senior Justin Fox reached 100 career varsity saves during the game, pushing his total to exactly 100.

For Greece Storm (1-8), senior James Maccallini led with three goals and one assist, while AQ at RHjunior Raymond Auringer added one goal. Senior Eric Odell went 17-for-20 at the faceoff dot (85%). HAVERLING-7 at LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-15 - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo picked up a 15-7 non-league win over Haverling on Saturday morning at home, scoring five goals in each of the first two quarters to build a commanding lead. The game featured two milestones, with LAG's Will Schweitzer reaching 50 career varsity goals and Haverling's McLane Stermole recording his 800th career save.

For Livonia-Avon-Geneseo (4-1), eighth-grader Owen Schweitzer led with eight goals and one assist, while sophomore Will Schweitzer added three goals and three assists, reaching 50 career goals in the process. Junior Rider VanZandt contributed two goals and three assists, and Connor Duryea added three assists. VanZandt went 15-for-20 at the faceoff dot (75%). Senior Ayden Szymanski stopped 13 shots for a 65% save percentage in goal.

For Haverling (2-5), senior Zach Colegrove and junior Noah Schneider each led with two goals, while senior Warren McCormick added one goal and two assists and senior Drew Spears and junior Logan Force each chipped in one goal. CANANDAIGUA-8 at FAIRPORT- 7 - Canandaigua rallied from a 7-5 deficit after three quarters with three straight goals in the fourth to edge Fairport 8-7 on CA at FairportSaturday afternoon. The win extends Canandaigua's winning streak against Fairport to six straight in a series that now stands at 16-10.

For Canandaigua (2-4), senior Patrick Olvany and freshman Landon Mortier each led with two goals, with Olvany adding one assist. Junior Marshall Bolster added two goals, and senior Zach Hoffman and junior AJ Sterman each chipped in one goal, with Sterman adding one assist. Junior Ryan McKeegan contributed two assists. Peyton Fritz went nine-for-18 at the faceoff dot (50%). Senior Quentin Shedrick stopped eight shots for a 53% save percentage in 48 minutes.

For McQuaid Jesuit (4-3), junior John Burrows led with five goals and one assist, while CA at Fairportsenior Domenic Giangreco added two goals and two assists and senior Aidan O'Brien contributed two goals and one assist. For Pittsford (9-0), senior Avery Valenti led with four goals, while junior Grant Lewis added three goals and one assist and junior Max Morgenstern contributed three goals. Junior Cole Goetz chipped in one goal and three assists, and junior Jahyden Maiorani and junior Trevor Nally each added one goal and one assist. Jacob scored his first varsity goal while also going 17-for-21 at the faceoff dot (81%), and senior Peter Roussell added four wins in four attempts (100%). The win gives LAG a 3-1 record and evens the all-time series with Wayne at two wins apiece.

For Livonia-Avon-Geneseo (3-1), sophomore Will Schweitzer led with three goals, while eighth-grader Owen Schweitzer added two goals. The game was tied at nine heading into overtime after Thomas outscored McQuaid three-to-nothing in the third quarter.

For McQuaid Jesuit (3-3), Burrows led with five goals and one assist, including the overtime winner. Senior Domenic Giangreco added two goals and two assists, reaching 50 career varsity goals in the process with 51 total. Twelve different players scored for the Cadets, who extended their winning streak against Churchville-Chili to eight straight in a series now standing at 12-11.

For Hilton (6-1), junior Tyler Reger and sophomore Lucas Grizzanti each led with four goals, with Reger adding one assist. Senior Jack Palmer contributed three goals and two assists, junior Gianluca Auriuso added three goals and one assist, and senior Anthony Mitrano Geneva at Waterloochipped in two goals and three assists. Looking Back

Week 4 was defined by historic individual achievements across the region. Among the highlights: Grant Lewis and John Burrows both reached 50 career goals, Churchville-Chili's Churchville Chili at Gates ChiliLarry Copeland set a school record with 10 caused turnovers, Spencerport's Zach Tortora broke his program's all-time career goals record, and McQuaid's Domenic Giangreco joined Spencerport's James Newtown and Greece Storm's Eric Odell in the 600-career-mark club at their respective positions. Penfield's Colin Miller and McQuaid's Giangreco also eclipsed major faceoff milestones.

On the team side, Pittsford remained the week's dominant force, closing at 7-0 after wins Wednesday and Saturday. The biggest upset came Friday when Thomas handed Brighton its first loss of the season, 12-7, behind Jake Nicolay's four goals and three assists. The week's second Players of the Week were also announced: Avery Valenti (Pittsford), Lucas Estelle (Thomas), Mason Schembri (Penfield), and Greyson Hathway (Penn Yan).

SATURDAY - Today featured a pair of career goal milestones, with Pittsford's Grant Lewis reaching 50 in an 11-3 win over Spencerport that kept Churchville Chili at Gates Chilithe Panthers unbeaten at 7-0, and McQuaid's John Burrows also hitting 50 in an 13-11 loss to Marcellus. Churchville-Chili's Isaac Bailey surpassed 300 career faceoff wins and Larry Copeland set a school record with 10 caused turnovers in a 12-2 win over Gates Chili, Spencerport's James Newtown reached 600 career saves in the loss, Pal-Mac's Jackson Dennie posted six goals in a 16-1 win over Wayne, and Geneva edged Aquinas 4-3 in the day's closest finish.

FRIDAY - Friday's biggest story was Thomas ending Brighton's unbeaten season with a 12-7 Monroe County D-2 win, with Jake Nicolay posting four goals and three assists. Elsewhere, Canandaigua picked up its first win of the season with an18-11 decision at HF-L behind five goals each from Patrick Olvany and Ryan McKeegan, Irondequoit rolled past Brockport 19-2 with four goals each from Liam West and Kieran Stenzel, and Penfield's Colin Miller surpassed 400 career faceoff wins in a 16-3 win over East United-Eastridge. Victor stayed strong with a 14-2 win at Schroeder, Hilton topped Rush-Henrietta 15-4 behind four goals from Cahlan Smith, and Greece Storm's Eric Odell reached 600 career faceoff wins despite a 16-1 loss at Fairport.

THURSDAY - THURSDAY - Thursday's standout moments came from two program milestones: Spencerport's Zach Tortora broke the school's all-time career goals record with a seven-goal performance in a 10-5 win over Horseheads, while Aquinas's Jake Gibson set the school record for career saves with his 575th despite a HH at Spencerport14-3 loss to McQuaid. In that game, McQuaid's Domenic Giangreco also surpassed 600 career faceoff wins. Brockport's Ryan Miller posted seven goals and reached 50 career assists in a 16-6 win over Bloomfield-Honeoye, and Jordan Elbridge handled Newark 18-6 in the day's other action.

The second group of Players of the Week was announced with Avery Valenti (Pittsford), Lucas Estelle (Thomas), Mason Schembri (Penfield) and Greyson Hathway (Penn Yan) winning the honors.

WEDNESDAY - It was a big night across the region, with Thomas's Jonah Jobson reaching 50 career goals in a 16-5 win over Rush-Henrietta and Pittsford's Keegan Jacob surpassing 100 career faceoff wins in a 12-5 win at Penfield that kept the Panthers unbeaten at 6-0. Brighton remained perfect at 4-0 with a win over Gates Chili behind five goals each from Austin Flaum and Teddy Carl, while Penn Yan's Miles Ditzell Fairport at Pal-Macreached 50 career goals in a 19-0 win over Mynderse-Romulus. Fairport earned its first win of the season at Pal-Mac, Midlakes opened its season with an 11-6 win over Churchville-Chili, and Schroeder extended its winning streak over Greece Storm to five straight with an 11-3 victory.

TUESDAY - It was Aquinas over Gananda in the only game played in the very cold weather today. Four other games were postponed or cancelled.

MONDAY - There was only one game played on Monday, as teams are returning after the break. Wayne won 8-6 over Greece Storm behind three goals from Haak, five assists from Landon, and 17 saves from freshman Hamel

We increase the number of games this week from 28 to 45 games this week with fourteen on Tuesday and Saturday. Noteworthy games include:

On Monday there are only two games. Greece is at Livonia and Fairport at Pal-MacTonawanda plays at Batavia-Notre Dame.

On Tuesday games include Midlakes at Geneva, Thomas at OP, East at Brockport, Fairport at Schroeder, Penfield at West Genny, and Penn Yan at Brighton.

On Wednesday Victor plays at Canandaigua in the only currently scheduled game.

On Thursday there are two games set including L-A-G at Wayne, East United/Eastridge at Batavia-Notre Dame and Brighton at Pal-Mac.

On Friday there are four games scheduled, including OP at Penfield and Schroeder at CNS.
