Players of the Week - Group 6

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with Geneva Club Beverages are sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

In our fifth group we have a senior, a sophomore and a junior who had noteworthy performances in the last week.

Offensive Players of the Week

Brayden Arber

Brayden Arber  - Sophomore Bloomfield-Honeoye Attackman

Brayden Arber was a major contributor in the two wins by the Pride last week.  Scoring, in total eighteen goals and six assists, he set a new school record for career goals in the Tonawanda win. In addition, Brayden, a starter since either grade, had fourteen ground balls, four takes and won eight out of twelve faceoffs.

Head Coach Joe Sidari says, "Brayden, a sophomore captain, leads by example through his play and his willingness to step into any role the team needs. He’s the kind of player who can impact a game in multiple ways, as he showed late in our league matchup—shifting from attack to faceoffs, then taking on a defensive midfield role during our final stand to help secure the win. He is also a strong student, consistently demonstrating the same discipline and commitment in the classroom that he brings to the field. Beyond his on-field contributions, Brayden gives back to the program by working with younger players and officiating youth games throughout their season. "

Brayden Arber

John Burrows  - Junior McQuaid Jesuit Attackman

John Burrows was the conquering hero for McQuaid Jesuit who edged Thomas 10-9 in overtime with Burrows scoring the game winner in OT. The game was tied at nine heading into overtime after Thomas outscored McQuaid three-to-nothing in the third quarter. He as scored in every game this year, totaling 34g-19a thus far.

Head Coach Alex Gray says, "John has been a leader for our team all year and has worked hard to improve each day. He is willing to do whatever is necessary to help the team and it's awesome to see him have success in some big games last week!"

Defensive Player of the Week

Eli RicciMcLane Stermole - Senior Haverling Goalie

McLane Stermole is a senior goalie who has been the Ram's starter since either grade. He has served 2,759 minutes and has made over 850 career saves (51%). Last week he helped give Haverling a 6-5 win over Mynderse-Romulus with twenty saves and a 80% saves day.

Head Coach Ken DiDomineck says, "McLane has been our team leader this year both on and off the field. This is his 4th year as our starting goalie and has worked very hard in the offseason while playing two other varsity sports. His performance of 20 saves (80%) in a tight game against Mynderse-Romulus was the main reason we pulled off the win. Many of those saves were one on one and point blank. He is the ultimate teammate by being the leader of our young defenders and stepping in to help our offense in shooting drills. He currently holds the Haverling school record for most saves in a season(256) and career saves which now stands at 851."

Note: Face-off players are considered for both offensive and defensive Players of the Week.
