Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with Geneva Club Beverages are sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

In our second group we have two seniors, a junior and a sophomore who had noteworthy performances in the last week.

Offensive Players of the Week

Avery ValentiAvery Valenti - Senior Pittsford Midfielder

Avery Valenti is a clear offensive pick with 14 goals and 4 assists across three wins, including a 6-goal, 2-assist performance against Irondequoit. The five year Varsity player has 155 career points and is headed to Colgate after graduation. His consistency across all three games and the fact that all came in victories makes him a standout for the week.

Lucas EstelleLucas Estelle - Junior Webster Thomas Midfielder

Lucas Estelle started playing on the Varsity in eighth grade and has thwenty-three of his eighty-five career points as of this point. He posted ten goals and four assists across two wins, going 5g-2A in both games as a sophomore against Baldwinsville and Penn Yan, makes his consistent production noteworthy.

Head Coach Rob Ruller says "As a sophomore captain, Lucas embodies every quality we want in our athletes. He is one of the hardest workers in the program, handles every challenge with a smile, and, perhaps most importantly, he even keeps the energy up by running the aux in the weight room. We are lucky to have him healthy, and he is a primary reason our team is finding its groove."

Defensive Players of the Week

Jake GibsonMason Schembri - Senior Penfield Goalie

Mason Schembri is a four year goalie with the Patriots, having tallied over 560 saves and a 61% saves average over four seasons. He is a returning 1st team All-League and All-Tournament pick and despite one tough loss to a strong Garden City squad, Schembri's 34 saves and a dominant 80% save percentage against Archbishop Stepinac earn him recognition this week.

Head Coach Johnn Schembri says, “Mason has been an anchor between the pipes for the last 4 seasons. His leadership, communication and skill at his position has been a major contributor to our continued success over the past few years. His work ethic during the off season and in season in the classroom and the field is second to none.”
