McQuaid and Victor Are In the Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Section V went two for four in the Western Semifinals as McQuaid beat Liverpool 10-5 and Victor beat Vestal 17-6. Aquinas lost to a strong team from Marcellus and Jamesville-DeWitt defeated HFL.

AQ at MarcMARCELLUS-15 at AQUINAS-8 - In the first game of the day at SUNY Cortland, Aquinas (16-6) played a very skilled Marcellus (Section III) team and lost 15-8. The Mustangs took a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and led 6-3 at the half, but the second half belonged to Marcellus as they scored nine second half goals while hold Aquinas to five. Sophomore midfielder Nick Rayfields owned the day, scoring seven goals and three assists for the 19-1 Mustangs who will move on to the finals where they will play Cold Spring Harbor, who defeated them in the finals last year. Scoring for Aquinas (16-6) were Tano Auriuso (4g-2a), Carter Wegman (2g), Jack Bell (1g) Noah Olbrich (1a) Dom Siesto (1a), and Jake Guggino (1g). Scoring for Marcellus were Jimmy Cox (2g-1a), Adam Rayfield (2g-2a), Chris Doshna II (2g-2a), Nick Rayfield (7g-3a), Donavan Fraher (3a), Dieter Steigerwald (1g), Henry Lawrence (1g). McQ vs LiverpoolLIVERPOOL-5 at MCQUAID JESUIT-10 - The Knights scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and led 6-2 at the half. Leading the scoring for McQuaid Jesuit (19-2) were John Harding (3g-1a), Vincenzo Giangreco (2g), Dom Giangreco (1g), Benton Paladino (1a), Liam Palmer (1g), AJ Quagrello (2g), and JP Gianforti (1g). Facing off for McQuaid Jesuit were JP Gianforti with 7+/1- = 88%, and Domenic Giangreco with 10+/1- = 91%. In the goal for McQuaid Jesuit, senior Will Gordon recorded 13s/5ga = 72% (48 mins). Victor - Vestalfreshman attackman Matthew Herendeen who both scored their first Varsity goal in the game. The game went to running time in the third quarter. Leading the scoring for Victor (18-3) were freshman attackman Jackson Mead (6g), senior attackman Jack Herendeen (5a), senior midfielder Aiden Clinkscales (3g-2a), and junior midfielder Brody Secker (2g-2a). Facing off for Victor was 8th grade Eli Ricci with 8+/2- = 80%. Ricci scored his 100th career faceoff win in the game. Victor senior goaltender Parker Erwin recorded 4s/1ga = 80% (34 mins). Scoring for Vestal were Michael Hogan (1g), Braden Mcmahon (1g-1a), Sammy Baek (2g), Xavier Shuler (1g), and Tucker Zostant (1g). HFL-JDJD-22 at HFL-7 - The game started out closely with JD taking a 4-3 first quarter lead, but then they exploded, scoring seven in the second, five in the third and six in the fourth quarters while holding the Cougars to four. Senior A/M Samuel Brazell led the Rams offense with (8g-3a). Scoring for HFL (19-3) were Marco Vengoechea (3g), Quinn Kailbourne (1g-1a), Owen Smith (1g), Patrick Donahoe (1g), Chase Perryman (1g-1a), and Drew Angelo (1a). Scoring for JD were Benjamin Porter (1g), Lucas Patchen (2g-2a), Andrew Laubenstein (3g-2a), Alexander Carolin (1g), Samuel Brazell (8g-3a), Graham Kesselring (2g), Eli Goldberg (1g-1a), Nick Miller (1a), Miles Patchen (1g), Ryan Babikan (1g), Jackson King (1g), Brody Kesselring (1g).
