DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were ten games played today in generally wet weather, with three featuring nail-biting finishes. Grand Island edged out Schroeder, securing a 10-8 victory behind strong performances from Cody Preston and Van Bolton in goal. JD held off Victor for a hard-fought 9-7 win, maintaining control despite a late push from Victor’s offense. Meanwhile, Wayne narrowly defeated Mynderse-Romulus 14-13 in an FL-D1 league battle, with standout scoring from Tas Strickland and a clutch performance by eighth-grade goalie Gavin Hamel. The remaining matchups saw dominant victories, including McQuaid Jesuit extending their streak against St. Joseph’s, Penn Yan celebrating milestone goals, and HFL powering through with a commanding 14-2 win. 

ST. JOSEPH`S-2 at MCQUAID JESUIT-6 - McQuaid Jesuit earned a 6-2 win over St. Joseph's, with junior Domenic Giangreco leading the scoring with three goals. Senior goalie Jack Rawleigh made eight saves and posted an 80% save rate. The win marks the team’s fifth consecutive victory against St. Joseph's. PENN YAN-14 at LAKE SHORE-5 - Penn Yan defeated Lake Shore 14-5 in a non-league game, with junior midfielder Braden Fingar scoring six goals and reaching his 100th career goal. Tukker Fisher added one goal and four assists, marking his 50th career assist. Freshman Greyson Hathway won 18 of 23 face-offs, while senior goalie Will Thompson recorded 13 saves with a 72% save rate.     [ Story and BOX SCORE] 

SCHROEDER-8 at GRAND ISLAND-10 - Grand Island won a non-league game against Schroeder with a final score of 10-8. Schroeder’s Cody Preston led his team with four goals, while Brennan Robinson, JD Stockmann, and Parker Brown also contributed. JD-9 at VICTOR-7 - JD secured a 9-7 win against Victor in a closely contested non-league game. JD built an early lead and maintained their advantage despite Victor’s late push. Leading scorers for Victor were Kyle Saeger and Brody Secker with two goals each, while sophomore goalie Will Simpson recorded 15 saves at a 65% save rate. MIDLAKES-14 at BROCKPORT-1 - Midlakes secured a 14-1 non-league victory over Brockport on Saturday. James Sprague led the scoring with four goals and two assists, while Carter Casper added three goals and three assists. Junior goalkeeper Stuart Quku recorded nine saves and allowed one goal, finishing with a 90% save percentage. LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-2 at HFL-14 - HFL secured a 14-2 win against Livonia-Avon-Geneseo in a non-league game. Leading the charge for HFL was Grady Goodberlet with seven goals and three assists, supported by Marco Vengoechea with two goals and five assists. HFL goalies Jason Bennett and Jackson Blythe combined for 11 saves. GREECE STORM-4 at EDEN-18 - Eden won a non-league game against Greece Storm with a score of 18-4. Greece Storm's scorers were Michael Atseff III, Eric Odell, Evan Baldwin, and Evan Roesser, while Odell won 17 of 20 faceoffs. Goalie Mitchell Barnes recorded three saves, and Justin Fox added two saves. Atseff III marked his first Varsity goal in the game. WATERLOO-5 at MARCUS WHITMAN-12 - Marcus Whitman defeated Waterloo 12-5 in a league contest, with five goals from Ayden Clark and contributions from several teammates. Junior Tariku Blueye reached 100 career goals, and sophomore Blake Strait netted his first varsity goal. Goalie Tyler Speers made four saves, and Logan Storms won three of five faceoffs. WAYNE-14 at MYNDERSE-ROMULUS-13 - Wayne edged Mynderse-Romulus 14-13 in a close FL-D1 league game. Jack Brady led Mynderse-Romulus with seven goals, while Tas Strickland matched that total for Wayne. Griffin Hilimire and Mason Michel each had multi-point performances. Eighth-grade goalie Gavin Hamel recorded fifteen saves with a 54% save percentage for Wayne.
