Close Calls and Strong Performances Mark Saturday

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Saturday’s lacrosse action featured 10 games, with seven decided by narrow margins. Baldwinsville pulled off a dramatic 9-8 overtime victory against Canandaigua, handing the previously unbeaten team its first loss of the season. Niskayuna also edged Victor 9-8 in a tight non-league matchup. JD secured a 21-13 win over McQuaid Jesuit, where junior Domenic Giangreco reached 500 career faceoff wins. Rush-Henrietta dominated Newark 16-2 before the game ended early due to the weather. Midlakes overcame an early deficit to defeat Gananda 15-8. Meanwhile, Wayne’s game against Bloomfield-Honeoye was suspended in the third quarter, and several other games were postponed or affected by thunderstorms, leaving their rescheduling uncertain with only one week remaining in the regular season. 

NEWARK-2 at RUSH-HENRIETTA-16-  Rush-Henrietta secured a 16-2 win over Newark in a non-league game that ended early due to weather. Andrew Coleman led Rush-Henrietta with four goals and an assist, while goalie Daniel Schmitz stopped all eight shots he faced. Nine players scored for the Royal Comets, while Newark's two goals came from Sam Underhill and Evan Shulla. Rush-Henrietta plays at HFL next, and Newark heads to Batavia.    [ Story and BOX SCORE

MCQUAID JESUIT-13 at JD-21 - JD earned a 21-13 victory over McQuaid Jesuit in a non-league game. Leading scorers for McQuaid Jesuit included Dominic Bianchi and John Burrows, each with four goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Domenic Giangreco reached 500 career faceoff wins, securing 18 in the game. McQuaid Jesuit is scheduled to play at Irondequoit on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.    [ Story and BOX SCORE

VICTOR-8 at NISKAYUNA-9 - Niskayuna secured a narrow 9-8 victory over Victor in a non-league matchup, with Dillon Licht leading the scoring for Niskayuna with four goals. Victor saw contributions from multiple players, including Ricci, Saeger, and Mead, each scoring twice. The fourth quarter featured key goals from both teams, but Niskayuna held on for the win. BALDWINSVILLE-9 at CANANDAIGUA-8 in overtime - Baldwinsville defeated Canandaigua 9-8 in overtime, ending Canandaigua’s perfect season. Baldwinsville rallied from a three-goal deficit late, with senior midfielder Brady Garcia tying the game with five seconds left in regulation. Senior midfielder Ignazio LoMedico secured the win with an outside bounce shot in overtime. Brady Garcia led Baldwinsville with three goals, while Canandaigua’s top scorers included Mike Belles and Ryan Bremer. Goalie John Martoccia made 12 saves for Baldwinsville. GANANDA-8 at MIDLAKES-15 - Midlakes earned a fifteen-to-eight win over Gananda, with key contributions from Walker Landschoot (four goals, four assists) and Carter Casper (three goals, two assists). Gananda initially built an eight-goal lead, led by Brody Daciw and Jase Smith, but Midlakes responded with a strong offensive effort. Goalies Stuart Quku and Nick Falso posted save rates above fifty percent. Midlakes will face Haverling on Tuesday, while Gananda plays them Monday.   [ Story and BOX SCORE

Orchard Park at Fairport was cancelled and no decision has been made on a possible makeup.

Greece Storm at Spencerport was suspended in the third quarter and will pick it up on Monday at 5:30.

Skaneatles at Pittsford game was postponed and a new date has not yet been set
