Monday: Greece Takes Out Canandaigua

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - There were a couple of interesting results today, starting with an overtime win by Greece over Canandaigua. At Honeoye Falls-Lima, Brighton took a two goal third quarter lead and held on for the 7-4 win. Mynderse had a big win over Batavia-Notre Dame and McQuaid Jesuit had a 10-8 win over St Joes.

Brighton at HFLST. JOSEPH-8 at MCQUAID JESUIT-10 - In a game with five ties both teams took turns scoring until the Knights had four in a row to take an 8-5 lead in the fourth quarter. To make things exciting, St Joseph players scored two in a row in a minute and a half to take the score to 9-8 McQuaid. John Harding (2g) scored an insurance goal with two minutes left in the game. Leading the scoring for McQuaid Jesuit (10-3) were Henry Coke (3g-2a), Rory Fitzpatrick (1g-2a), and AJ Quagrello (2g). Freshman faceoff midfielder Domenic Giangreco scored his first Varsity goal and in the goal for McQuaid Jesuit was Will Gordon with 10s/8ga = 56% (48 mins).  There was no information available for St. Joseph (13-4) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE

MYNDERSE-25 at BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME-3 - Mynderse extended their winning streak to five wins as twelve different players scored goals for the Blue Devils including junior midfielder Dylan Tandle who reached his 50th goal with his two goals (now 51g). Others scoring for Mynderse (10-5) were Griffin Hilimire (5g-3a), Mason Buckley (4g-3a), Lucas Stevers (5g-2a), and Tandle (2g-3a).

Brighton at HFLScoring for Batavia-Notre Dame (1-13) were senior attackman Cooper Hamilton (1g), sophomore A/M Gavynn Trippany (1a), junior midfielder Quintin Cummings (1g), and sophomore A/M Ivan Milovidov (1g).    [ BOX SCORE

BRIGHTON-7 at HFL-4 - Brighton had a run of 5 goals to take their eighth win in a row against HFL going back to 2015. Both teams have won twelve games against the other. Scoring for Brighton (7-7) were James Holbrough (4g), Ben Marangola (1g-1a), Joseph Messina (1g), Aksel Stanat (1g), and Sam Slaninka (1a). Brighton at HFLCANANDAIGUA-6 at GREECE STORM-7 - It was a series of runs for both teams in this close and exciting game at Olympia. Greece scored first and held the lead for six minutes until Nate Sheridan scored the first of his three goals. The teams were ties at 1-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Braves scored two unanswered goals in the second and led at the half 3-1. After the break Greece stormed back with the only three goals in the third quarter and took a 4-3 lead after three. Sheridan scored first in the last stanza, tying the game and 4-4 and Mark Belles put the Braves up by one with 6:20 left in regulation. Less than a minute later Matthew Ranalletta scored his second goal for the tie. Sean Olvany but CA up at 4:40 but Greece came back at 2:14 when Aiden Early took a feed from James Maccallini to send the game into overtime where at 0:42 Maccallini scored the game winner.

Scoring for Greece Storm (6-8) were Matthew Ranalletta (3g-2a), James Maccallini (2g-1a), and Aiden Early (2g). In the goal for Greece Storm was junior Jonathan Bucciarelli with 22s/6ga = 79% (51 mins). He reached his 500th save (now 502svs).

Brighton at HFLScoring for Canandaigua (11-4) were Nate Sheridan (3g), Sean Olvany (1g-1a),Mark Belles (1g), Jack Tanoory (1g), Ryan Bremer (1a), Alex Rheude (1a), Braden Gioseffi (1a), and sophomore attackman Drew Williamee (1a).
