The New York State Sportswriters Association, posted their 2022 All-State lacrosse teams today with twenty Section V players included on the lists. There are two divisions: Large Schools (Classes A and B) and Small Schools (Classes C and D). Full Story

Thirty-four teams had already cleaned out the lockers and only Canandaigua was still playing today after an exciting season during which the Braves continually improved. Monroe County Awards for 2022

Senior defenseman Eli Adams (Thomas), senior midfielder/FO Noah Gibson (Irondequoit), junior midfielder Thomas Gravino (Victor), senior defenseman Eric Platten (Canandaigua 2nd time) and senior midfielder Nick Hauman (Schroeder) were named USA Lacrosse All Americans from Monroe County. Full Story

Canandaigua in the Finals!

Section V sent two teams to the NYS semifinals and Fairport lost to a strong Baldwinsville, and Canandaigua used defense and faceoffs to beat West Genesee and move on to the championship round on Saturday. Full Story

GRALL Awards for 2022

The All-Star list is out recognizing the GRALL players for the 2022 season. Senior defenseman Hunter Smith (McQuaid) was named US Lacrosse All Academic from the GRALL.  GRALL Player of the Year was Jamie O`Neil (Haverling). Full Story

The Rochester Chapter of USA Lacrosse recently announced the 2022 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. After a COVID absence, this year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at Victor High School. Full Story

In the semifinals, the Class A game will feature Barker (Baldwinsville) vs Fairport at 12:30. In Class B game it is West Genesee vs Canandaigua at 5:30. Full Story

Fairport and CA to Semi Finals

Two Section V teams are moving on to the NYS semifinal games in Cortland on Wednesday. Fairport won their game against Clarence 17-4 and Canandaigua won a close 6-5 game against Hamburg. Penn Yan had a 12-11 loss to Akron and Pal-Mac fell to Lake Shore 10-4. Full Story

Canandaigua Wins First Title Since 2013

Canandaigua has reached the Sectional Finals eight of the last ten contests, including the last three tournaments that have been held.  The Braves have not won since 2013 with an 11-10 win over Victor in overtime.  Tonight, the Braves added their second win with a 7-3 victory over Irondequoit.  Full Story

Fairport Wins Third Straight Title

Pittsford and Fairport have faced three times in the Sectional Championship over the last seven tournaments.  In each of the last seven years at least one of them has been present in the finals.  When they faced last year, Fairport won in overtime but  tonight, Fairport won again (their third straight) with an 8-3 win over the Panthers.  Full Story

Penn Yan Wins 26th Title

*+Penn Yan cemented their 26^th Section V Title with a comeback 8-6 win over Livonia-Avon.  The Mustangs trailed for most of the game before scoring four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to secure the win.  The Mustangs showed their pedigree of Section Final matches and stayed cool and collected throughout.   Full Story

Pal-Mac Comes Back and Wins First Title Since 2017

After appearing in the finals the last two seasons, Pal-Mac came into tonight’s game looking for their first win since 2017.  The Red Raiders fought back hard with last four goals of the game to defeat HF-L 8-5.  A key factor in that win was Red Raider goalie Will Nichols.  He finished the game with nine saves, including six in the first half and was named the All Tournament MVP for Class C.  Full Story
