2024 Hall of Fame Dinner

*+The Greater Rochester Chapter of USA Lacrosse held their thirtith Hall of Fame dinner Friday night at the Harro East Ballroom in Rochester.Hall of Fame

Teammates, friends and family along with many members of the Hall of Fame, gathered to induct five individuals, and one team into the Greater Rochester Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class of 2024. They were welcomed by Chapter Past President Scott Schwind. Full Story

Hall of Fame Dinner on November 8th

On Friday, November 8th, the Rochester Chapter of USA Lacrosse will install the 2024 class. The event will take place at the Harro East Ballroom (155 N Chestnut St, Rochester, NY 14604) with a social hour beginning at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00pm. The class includes Courteny Gibbons, Peter Milliman, Brice Queener, Steve Trombley and the 1996 Nazareth mens team. Full Story

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were two games played on the last game of the season and at stake were NYS Championships. McQuaid Jesuit was an 8-7 overtime winner over Farmingdale (Section VIII). South Side (Section VIII) defeated Victor, also in overtime by a score of 12-11.  Full Story

GVLOA Honors Team Sportsmanship

The Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association (GVLOA) provides officials for all of the the boys lacrosse teams in Section V and recently handed out their annual Steven R. Morgan Sportsmanship Awards to one team in each Class. The award is given to a team that exemplifies sportsmanship at the coaches’ level, the players level, and the fans level.  Officials vote after every game by the officials at the game. Peter McCabe, newly elected President, made presentations for GVLOA. Full Story

McQuaid and Victor Are In the Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Section V went two for four in the Western Semifinals as McQuaid beat Liverpool 10-5 and Victor beat Vestal 17-6. Aquinas lost to a strong team from Marcellus and Jamesville-DeWitt defeated HFL. Full Story

USA Lacrosse All-Americans and All-Academics

*+The Head Coaches of Section V considered players who had been nominated for All-American and All-Academic awards. The awards identify some of the best players from each area around the country. Each of the head coaches in the Section is allowed to vote on each of the awards. The selections from our area were then submitted to the USA Lacrosse for final approval. Full Story

Section V Wins Both Out-bracket Games in Buffalo

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - The two out-bracket games were played in Section VI at Williamsville East High School today and Section V won both the Class C (HFL) and Class D (Aquinas) games. The teams will now move to Maine Endwell High School on Saturday for the quarterfinal round of the NYSPHSAA tournaments. Full Story

McQuaid Jesuit Wins First Block

*+McQuaid Jesuit scored the final four goals of the game spanning the entire second half to secure their first ever Section Five Title.  The Black Knights have been to the Finals three times in program history (including last year's 9-5 loss vs. Pittsford), but this was their first time taking home the Title. Victor Takes Class B with 9-6 Win

*+Victor defeated Irondequoit 9-6 tonight in the Class B Championship to win their tenth Title and second in a row.  The game was close for the first half, before the Blue Devils pulled ahead in the second half and held off a small push by Irondequoit in the middle of the fourth. Full Story

Aquinas Takes Class D Championship

AQUINAS-14 at PENN YAN-11 -Aquinas defeated Penn Yan to gain their second Section V Title in program history with a 14-11 win over the Mustangs. The last time that the Li`l Irish won the title was also against Penn Yan back in 2010; in that game they snapped a 12 year winning streak for the Mustangs. This year they broke another 12 year winning streak. Full Story

HFL Wins Section V Class C Championship

*+DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Both the Class C and D Championships were planned for Finger Lakes Community College today, but thunder and lightning storms caused great delays and in the in although the Class C game was won by Honeoye Falls-Lima, the Class D championship was moved to Sunday at 10:30 AM at FLCC. DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - The semifinals for both Classes A and B were played tonight and it will be Victor vs Irondequoit in the Class B Championship and McQuaid vs Penfield in the Class A Championship on Tuesday. Full Story

Irondequoit Over Canandaigua in Semifinals

Irondequoit came out strong in their 10-6 win over Canandaigua.  The Eagles scored five goals in the opening quarter to take the early lead.  Leading that charge was Steven Clinkscales, who finished with 4g-1a.  The game was plagued with multiple penalties and both teams had changes at man-up.  Irondequoit finished with 4 man-up goals; while Canandaigua was only able to capitalize one single man-up goal.   Full Story

Pal-Mac survives Scare from Livonia-Avon

*+Pal-Mac stepped up in the fourth quarter to defeat Livonia-Avon 4-3.  In a game that was plagued with penalties, the teams both had multiple attempts at extra-man offense.  The Red Raiders converted on two of their attempts while the Lakers could not convert on any of their attempts.  The man-down defense for Pal-Mac was a key factor of their win. DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were four games played today and one was a close one. In Class C, Pal-Mac (#1) was a 4-3 winner over Livonia-Avon. They will Play HFL (#2) who beat Geneva today. In Class D Aquinas (#1) beat Marcus Whitman and will play Penn Yan (#2) who beat Mynderse today. Full Story

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - There were eight quarterfinal games played today and two were in overtime. Irondequoit was a 9-8 winner over Thomas. Spencerport was a 7-6 winner over Brighton in triple overtime.  Full Story

There were forty-six games played last week. There are seventy-four out of section games scheduled and 74 have been played. Section V teams have won 48 and lost 26 (65%). Pal-Mac (16-0) is the only undefeated team at this point. Full Story
