Penn Yan won the first game of the night and will be the only Section Five team in the finals at Syracuse University (Coyne Filed), on Saturday. Penn Yan stunned Skateateles, scoring 11 unanswered goals in the first half. E-S-M seemed to control most of the first half, but Canandaigua came back hard behind Nate Evens. Orchard Park was down four goals before a strong 4th quarter in which they tied the game with less than a minute and the won early in the first overtime period. Full Story |

Section Five All Tournament Teams 2001 |

The 2001 Section Five Tournaments are over and the Champions have been determined. An All-Tournament Team is selected for each Class Tournament. The MVP for Class A was Chad Pino of Irondequoit. In Class B the MVP was Canandaigua's Nate Evens. In Class C the MVP was Brice Queener of Penn Yan. |

Monroe County All League List - 2001 |

The Monroe County coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2001. Fairport won the County title and had 7 first team players. Mike Felber (Defense-McQuaid Jesuit) was selected the All American and Chris Stock (Midfielder-Penfield) was the alternate. Randy Garrett (Fairport) was selected Coach of the Year. Full Story |

After a week in intensive care, RIT student and former Penfield player, Todd Bernhardt died at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center after being hit in the chest with a lacrosse ball during pre-game warmups.< Full Story |

Section Five is enjoying a large increase in the number of teams starting lacrosse programs. In the last few years eight teams have started programs, increasing the number of teams in Section Five from 16 to 24. |
