Varsity lacrosse teams throughout New York State had their first practice of the 2025 season today and thousands of players have high hopes for a fantastic year, full of wins and championships. In the end, however, there will only be two teams left in each class who will compete for the New York State Championships and this year those championships will take place in Section V. Full Story

Gananda Secures First Win in 2025

Gananda opened its lacrosse season with a solid win against Gates Chili, claiming a 20-11 victory in a non-league game held at R Mann Elementary on Friday evening. Leading the charge for Gananda was sophomore Jase Smith, who contributed eleven goals and five assists, supported by Brody Daciw with five goals and three assists, and Mason Groh with two goals and five assists. Goalie Nick Falso played a steady game, saving fifty-four percent of shots faced (thirteen saves on eleven goals allowed).

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - There were 3 games played today and all of them were won by more than three goals. Thomas defeated Wayne 23-9, with freshman Blake Jipson scoring seven goals, while Tas Strickland contributed five for Wayne. Gananda won 20-11 against Gates Chili, led by Jase Smith’s eleven goals and five assists, and Michael Alley scored six for Gates Chili. Greece Storm Opens Season with Victory

Greece Storm claimed a 9-4 win over Newark with James Maccallini leading the charge with five goals. Newark`s Sam Underhill scored all four of their goals. Orchard Park secured a 14-12 win over Penfield in a non-league lacrosse game. Penfield`s Brodie Joyce (two goals, three assists), Jake Maurer (two goals, one assist), and AJ Theodorakakos (two goals) led the offense.
