Gravino, Platten and Nolan make first Team All-State
The New York State Sportswriters Association, posted their 2022 All-State lacrosse teams today with twenty Section V players included on the lists. There are two divisions: Large Schools (Classes A and B) and Small Schools (Classes C and D).

2022 Season Wrap Up
Bishop Kearney scheduled twelve games but dropped out just before the tournaments at the end of the season. There were 870 players on the final rosters, down five players from 2021. Rush-Henrietta and Victor carried the largest roster with thirty-seven players and Batavia-Notre Dame had the smallest with thirteen.

Monroe County Awards for 2022
Senior defenseman Eli Adams (Thomas), senior midfielder/FO Noah Gibson (Irondequoit), junior midfielder Thomas Gravino (Victor), senior defenseman Eric Platten (Canandaigua 2nd time) and senior midfielder Nick Hauman (Schroeder) were named USA Lacrosse All Americans from Monroe County.

2022 Senior Games
The Rochester Chapter of USA Lacrosse recently announced the 2022 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. After a COVID absence, this year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at Victor High School.

Saturday - Lakers Celebrate 20 Years with Win
DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Batavia-Notre Dame celebrated Senior Day with their first win since 2017. Hilton scored in the last two minutes of the game with Schroeder. Brighton won their game with HF-L and the Pride had a 9-8 win over Midlakes-Red Jacket.

Thursday - Pal-Mac Takes Penn Yan on 4th Qtr Surge
DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - A fourth quarter surge gave the Red Raiders the win over Penn Yan. Victor survived a scare in their 12-8 win vs Schroeder and Midlakes-Red Jacket won a 10-8 game against the Pride.

Saturday - Brighton over Geneva
DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were a dozen games played on Saturday and several close ones. Newark beat East in OT, Brighton beat Geneva by one, HF-L held on for a 5-4 with against the Lakers, and Pittsford had a 5-3 win over Hamburg.

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - Most of the fourteen games played today were blowouts, but the Fairport 6-Penfield 4 game was a good one.

Tuesday - Victor and Pittsford Win Close Ones
DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - It was a busy day with more than a dozen games played. Pittsford beat Penfield in overtime and a score with two seconds left in regulation gave Victor a win at Fairport to remain the only undefeated team in the section. Hilton also won their game with R-H in overtime.

Saturday - Pal-Mac over Brighton in OT
DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - It was an overtime win for Pal-Mac as face off specialist Quinn Nolan won 18 of 21 draws, scored the game winning goal and led the team with 3g-1a. Irondequoit held on for their 9-8 win over Visiting Schroeder.

Tuesday - Canandaigua Over Thomas
DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - In a repeat of last year`s Class B championship game, there was a different outcome as the Braves defeated Thomas in a close 11-8 game. Penfield held off a last minute charge by Spencerport in their 10-9 win.

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - There were fourteen games played and only one was close and Brighton fought back and almost caught Penfield who won 7-6.

Week In Review - Week 2
There were twenty-five games played since the start of games on March 24th with the HF-L win at Haverling being the closest at 10-9. At the moment there are fifty-two out of section games scheduled and ten have been played. Section Five have won seven (70%).

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: It was the last day in the regular season and six games were played. It was Canandaigua over Penn Yan 9-3 and so for 2021 there are no undefeated teams. Gananda travelled to Medina for a 19-12 win. HF-L had a 14-10 win against Schroeder and Hilton surprised Spencerport with a 13-12 win. Tournament seeding will take place late Saturday or early Sunday.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Four more teams joined Batavia and BK as they finished the regular season today. Churchville-Chili, Greece, Pittsford, and Penfield finished and will wait for tournament seeding on Sunday. Irondequoit won a close one with Churchville-Chili. Victor won a close one with Pittsford and Brockport won a close one with East United-Eastridge.

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were just three games in the section today. Livonia beat Wayne despite a strong comeback. McQuaid Jesuit beat Webster Schroeder and Bloomfield-Honeoye was a 14-3 winner over Batavia.

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: UPDATED Penfield scored the last four goals in their 9-8 double overtime win against visiting Fairport tonight. With Fairport up 7-2 with 2:30 left in the third quarter, Penfield scored seven of the last eight goals.

Victor over Fairport, Brighton over Schroeder
Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior faceoff specialist Logan Callahan gave Victor a big advantage in ball time as he won 14/18 draws to help the Blue Devils beat Fairport 10-6 this afternoon. Callahan, who in three games this season has won 58/66 (88%) faceoffs also scored 2g-1a. The game started even, with three ties before Victor took a lead at 4-3 and did not let go. Senior M/A Cal Lambert led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 3g-2a. Senior midfielder Alex Seiler added 2g-1 and five other players scored one goal. Fairport sophomore A/M Jackson Monte led in scoring for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a. Fairport (2-2) will play Penfield on Friday while Victor (3-0) is playing Irondequoit. Penfield Wins in Overtime
Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: It took overtime for Penfield to defeat The Panthers 12-11 tonight on the road. With Pittsford up 11-7 at the top of the fourth quarter but starting with 5:08 left in the game, Penfield scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 2:11 left. With 2:04 left in overtime, senior attackman Sam Cummings scored the game-winner with an assist from Jake Fox. Cummings ended the game with 4g and senior midfielder Chris Smith added 3g-2a. John Richiusa gave the Patriots lots of ball time as he won 23/27 faceoffs. Pittsford senior attackman Harrison Cross led scoring with 2g-2a and junior James Cook added 3g for the Panthers (2-2) who will play R-H on Wednesday. Penfield bumps to 4-0 and will play Canandaigua on Wednesday.[BOX SCORE]

Herod Scores for Whitman with 8 Seconds On Clock
Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: In a rainy-muddy game played on Friday afternoon, Marcus Whitman's Ryan Herod scored the game winning goal with 0:08 left on the clock to give the Wildcats an 8-7 win over Wayne.

Fairport Wins First Meeting with Pittsford
Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW:In one of the few non-mismatched games this year, Fairport travelled to Pittsford in what the preseason coaches' poll said will be the Class A finals and as they predicted, Fairport won this one, but despite the 10-7 game it really could have gone either way. Schroeder Excited to Play
Schroeder had few underclassmen on the 2019 roster and so most of this year's team will be new to the varsity. Junior midfielder Nick Hauman returns after scoring 31g-20a as a freshman and has committed to play at Towson after graduation. According to Coach Mordaci, "He is a very strong two-way midfielder, a leader, and has a fantastic lacrosse IQ." Joining him in the midfielder is senior Tim Weisensel (10g-5a) who is very athletic and quick and junior Tyler Gould.

Many Exciting Games Played on Thursday
Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: It was a big day, with fifteen games and many exciting matchups and when they games were all played, there were five one-goal games and a number of suprising finishes including Brighton at Victor, where they Barons won a 12-8 victory. Brockport was a 9-8 winner over Gates Chili, Greece was a 7-6 winner over Spencerport, Rush-Henrietta was a 6-5 winner over HF-L, Pittsford was an 11-10 winner over Irondequoit and Schroeder was an 8-7 winner over Penfield. Hilton beat Thomas 9-3. It was only the second time the Cadets (7-2) have won against the Titans.

Schroeder Wins in Overtime
Schroeder improved to 5-4 with an overtime win against Penfield 8-7. Nick Hauman scored the winning overtime goal for Schroeder. This is the second game of the season where the Patriots have lost in overtime. Schroeder came to dominate the first half before Penfield began a comeback in third quarter.

Lots of Close Ones
Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were several one-goal games today and some were unexpected wins. Fairport(6-1) needed overtime to defeat a scrappy Thomas(3-6) 8-7 and Penfield(4-5) used overtime to beat Victor(7-2) 7-6. Meanwhile Pittsford(5-4) was a 7-6 winner over Canandaigua(8-2). Spencerport(2-5) defeated Rush-Henrietta(5-4) with a scored of 9-7 and Hilton(6-2) took out Schroeder(4-4) 9-5.

Battle of Webster High Schools
In the battle of the Webster High Schools, Thomas defeated Schroeder 6-4 after a consistent four quarters. Schroeder came out strong winning the first quarter 3-2. Thomas came back with two unanswered goals in the second quarter to take the 4-3 lead into halftime. The Titans never lost the lead after that.
