Week In Review - Week 2

EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.

There were twenty-five games played since the start of games on March 24th with the HF-L win at Haverling being the closest at 10-9. At the moment there are fifty-two out of section games scheduled and ten have been played. Section Five have won seven (70%).

Looking Back

Aquinas-Livonia-AvonAlthough there were games scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, they were all postponed, so the first game of the week was on Wednesday when Schroeder fell to St. Francis in double overtime. Nick Hauman surpassed a career 100 points in the game.

On Thursday there were five games played. Livonia-Avon beat Haverling in GRALL action. Newark shutout B-ND and Gates Chili beat Gananda. Waterloo won a close one with Midlakes-Red Jacket and R-H won their game with East United-Eastridge.

Pal-Mac beat Livonia-Avon 8-7 on Friday night as faceoff specialist Quinn Nolan won 16/17 and led with 2g-1a.

Things then got lively as fourteen games were played on Saturday. Senior goalie Jack Faiola posted 6s (75%) while Drew Williamee and Jaxon Grant both scored 3g-2a for Canandaigua as they beat visiting Geneva. Brighton lost a close 7-5 game with Hamburg. Medina won their game against Brockport and Schroeder defeated HF-L 10-8. Other winners were Rush-Henrietta, Haverling, Waterloo, Wayne, Thomas, Marcus Whitman, Spencerport, Penfield, and McQuaid Jesuit, who all won by large margins

Looking Ahead

There are forty-two games scheduled for this week as the schedule settles down to mostly Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday game days. Bishop Kearney, Bloomfield-Honeoye, Fairport, Greece Storm, Hilton, Irondequoit, Penn Yan, Pittsford, and Victor will all play season openers this week.

Pal-Mac and C-CAt the moment there are no games set for Monday, but on Tuesday there are thirteen scheduled.  B-H opens their season at Haverling, Greece opens hosting R-H, Irondequoit opens at Pal-Mac, Hilton opens at Spencerport and Victor opens at Brighton. Fairport plays at Pittsford at 7PM and the two Class A teams will both play their first game of the season.

On Wednesday Geneva is at Midlakes-Red Jacket in FL1 action while Haverling travels to Salamanca.

On Thursday there are fourteen games schedules. Among the interesting games are Wayne at Pal-Mac, B-ND at Wilson (Section VI), the cross-Webster Thomas at Schroeder, and Greece at Hilton.

Marcus Whitman is scheduled to play at Batavia-Notre Dame on Friday night.

Finishing out the week are a dozen games on Saturday. Among the interesting games are Penn Yan at Carthage, Penfield at West Genesee, Baldwinsville at Canandaigua, and F-M at Pittsford.
