Tuesday - Victor and Pittsford Win Close Ones
DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - It was a busy day with more than a dozen games played. Pittsford beat Penfield in overtime and a score with two seconds left in regulation gave Victor a win at Fairport to remain the only undefeated team in the section. Hilton also won their game with R-H in overtime.
AQUINAS 19 - BISHOP KEARNEY 14 - Tano Auriuso had 7g and Myles Blackwood had 2g-5a for Aquinas in the first win of the season. Noah Olbrich had 3g-2a and Angelo Palumbo added 3g-3a for the winners. There was no report from Bishop Kearney at post time. [BOX SCORE]
RUSH-HENRIETTA 12 - HILTON 13 OT - Joseph Maneti score with an assist from Cole Loewke to give the Cadets their overtime win at Rush-Henrietta. There were four ties in the game. Maneti ended the game with 5g-1a and Loeke finished with 3g-2a. Junior goalkeeper Jason Mosher recorded 16s (57%) for Hilton (3-4). Eight players made the offensive book for R-H with Chase Petschke leading the list with 3g-2a. Face-off specialist Mike Valent won 21 of 27 draws for the Royal Comets (4-4). [BOX SCORE]
NEWARK 11 - MIDLAKES-RED JACKET 1 - Newark lifted their record to 5-1 as six players scored points including Preston Steve (4g-1a) and Tyler Deline (3g-2a). Sam Underhill won 9 of 13 draws and Caleb George-Cady made 9s (90%) for the Reds. There was no book from Midlakes-Red Jacket at post time. Newark plays Marcus Whitman on Thursday. [BOX SCORE]
FAIRPORT 9 - VICTOR 10 -There were five ties in this exciting game that was highlighted by fierce defense and committed offensive from both teams. The teams were tied at 3-3 after the first quarter and 5-5 at the half. Fairport scored two unanswered goals in the third quarter, but Victor junior attackman Pax Marshall scored three in a row and then Liam Wheeler added a fourth goals with an assist from Sam Gotham to give the Blue Devils a two goal lead with 3:44 left in the game. After the faceoff Jackson Monte found Kyle Gould to take the score to 9-8 and with eight seconds left Chase Rizzo scored for Fairport for what looked like a setup for overtime. However, Victor face off specialist Sam Ricci, won the draw and raced to the cage where he scored the game winner with two seconds left the regulation. Sophomore attackman Jack Herendeen led the Victor offense with 3g-2a. Billy Meagher and Kyle Gould led the Red Raider offense with 3g each. Fairport goalie McLean Ralston was demonstrative in the goal making 14s (58%). Fairport (5-2) will play Penfield and Victor (8-0) will play Rush-Henrietta on Thursday. BLOOMFIELD-HONEOYE 7 - HAVERLING 19 -The Rams scored seven unanswered goals in the first quarter and didn't let up until the last quarter as Jamie O`Neil scored 9g-3a and Brady Dickson added 4g-3a for Haverling. O`Neil still lead the section in offense with 51g-28a=79pts. Senior middie Keian McRae picked up 15gbs as he won 15 for 21 draws for the Rams (5-3) who will play Bishop Kearney on Friday. GREECE STORM 4 - SCHROEDER 18 - Nine offensive players made the book for the Warriors. Nick Hauman (5g) and Nate Schilling (2g-3a) led the scoring. Noah Witmer won 11 of 15 draws for Schroeder. Four different players each scored one goal for the Storm. [BOX SCORE]
SPENCERPORT 13 - THOMAS 9 -A strong first half gave Spencerport their first series win against Thomas. The Rangers had a 10-2 lead at the half, and the Titans fought back in the second half with a run of six unanswered goals, but it wasn't enough. Austin Mandarano (4g-1a) and Justin Schnauber (1g-4a) led the Spencerport offense and Cameron Mesh won 13 of 21 faceoffs for the Rangers. Spencerport (4-2) will play Brighton on Thursday. MYNDERSE 3 - PENN YAN 13 -Seven players from Penn Yan scored points as Tukker Fisher produced 3g-3a and three others had three or four points. CANANDAIGUA 9 - BRIGHTON 2 -It was a low scoring contest as the Braves led at halftime 2-1 and then work up in the third quarter scoring four goals and the three more in the last quarter for their MC-D2 league win at home. Jaxon Grant had 2g-2a and four others each added two points for CA (7-2). Thomas D`Angelo was credited with 12s (57%) for the Bruins who will play Spencerport on Thursday. [BOX SCORE]
PITTSFORD 5 - PENFIELD 4 OT - James Cook (3g) scored the first two unanswered goals for Pittsford in the first quarter. Elijah Utz scored just before halftime for Penfield taking the score to 2-1 Panthers. Goals by Cook (assisted by Ben Steingass) and Rex Kesselring gave Pittsford a 4-1 lead after three quarters. Penfield excited the crowd with three goals in a one-minute period to force a 4-4 tie. The first Patriot goals by Sean Smith was followed by two from Ethan Hamilton. Sophomore A/M Ian Erskine scored the game winner with 0:14 in overtime. There was no report from Pittsford at post time. [BOX SCORE]
GENEVA 4 - PAL-MAC 14 - Will Nichols had 9s (69%) for Pal-Mac as six players made the offensive book for the Red Raiders.
