Thirty Four Teams in 2026

There are currently thirty-four teams that will play in the Section in 2026. They are divided among four classes that compete for Sectional championships and later, the New York State tournaments.

Generally, schools with 1,036 or more students are in Class A. Schools with 728 to 1,035 are in Class B, schools with 450 to 727 are in Class C and schools with 449 or less in Class D.

Combined teams are determined by various scales.

Bishop Kearney announced that they will not field a team in 2026 due to lack of interest.

Teams No Longer Playing

Arc/Oly After a couple of years as the Greece Team, the district formed two teams. Arc/Oly was called the Lightning and Ath/Oly was called the Thunder. After the 2017 season the teams reformed with all four teams playing as the Greece Storm.

Avon Avon started their Varsity program in 2013 with Vince McKeown coaching. Erik Schneider took over from 2014 through 2016 after which Paul Cole took over for the final year in 2017. Avon the combined with Livonia in 2018
BAND Batavia, Attica and Notre Dame combined to play in 2019
Batavia Batavia started in 2007 and played until 2013 when they combined with Attica. In 2016 they returned and played until 2018 when they combined with Attica and Notre Dame (BAND) for one year. Then it was back to Batavia for 2020 and 2021.
Batavia-Attica In 2014 and 2015 Batavia was merged with Attica.
Bishop Kearney After an eleven year absence, Bishop Kearney returned to Section Five and played from 2010 to 2013 before dropping the program again due to lack of players. It started again in 2021 with Aaron Civalier as Head Coach. The team continued under a number of coaches before droppoing the sport again after the 2025 season.
East Rochester East Rochester first sponsored a team in 2009 with Mike Domm as the first Head Coach. In 2011, Chris Cummings coached until the end of the 2012 season after which ER drop the program.
East United Jim Tillotson and Sean Banks started the Varsity program in 2018 and co-coached from 2018-2019. The team was made up of players from the Rochester City schools. In 2020 they were scheduled to add Eastridge to the merger, but with the COVID issues they fielded the new team in 2021.
Eastridge After a run from 1967 to 2019, in 2020 Eastridge combined with East United.
Greece Starting in 2003 and for three seasons Corey Perry coached the Greece Team. The program then combined Arcadia and Olympia high schools in 2006.
Livonia John Sciera was the first Head Coach for the Livonia team from 2002 through 2007. Brett Wood took over and coached the team through the 2017 season. Coach Wood remained the coach in the 2018 season when they combined with Avon and became the Lakers.
Midlakes-Red Jacket Midlakes and Red Jacket combined in 2021 and played through the 2024 season after which Midlakes returned as a single team.
