Penn Yan returns this season a favorite for their nineteenth Section Five Championship.  The Mustangs return eighteen players from their 2013 roster.  Bradley Voigt (Syracuse) returns as the leading goals and points scorer for 2013.  He finished the season with 57g-40a (179g-112a in his career).  Full Story

Last year was a big year for Section Five as we hosted New York State Tournament games from the quarter finals right through the Championships. Section Five Boys Lacrosse Coordinator, Mike Simon led his committee in the most professional manner and the games hosted at St. John Fisher College were exciting and proved to be a great experience for players and fans. After trailing 3-0 after the first quarter, Livonia fought back to defeated Eastridge 9-7. The Bulldogs scored four unanswered goals to start the fourth quarter and then moved into the lead. The Lancers started off strong, but couldn`t keep up the pressure in the second half. Full Story

McQuaid Beats Avon

McQuaid Jesuit scored the first three goals and never trailed in their 14-6 win over visiting Avon. The Knights had ten different players make their offensive scorebook and twenty-seven players with at least one statistic. Midfielder Jarrett Cook led his team with 7 ground balls. Schroeder 7 - Irondequoit 6 in Double Overtime

Irondequoit dominated the first half of play before Webster Schroeder scored five unanswered goals to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Eagles\\' Andrew Knope scored to send the game into overtime. Mike Trass scored for the Warriors with 2:51 remaining in the second overtime period to defeat Irondequoit for the first time since 2007. Trass scored three goals for Webster. Full Story

Wayne Over Waterloo

Although Waterloo scored the first goal, Wayne fought back and led the entire second half in their 8-3 victory. The turning point for the Eagles came in the last 2:20 of the second quarter. They scored three goals in less than two minutes to take the game from a close 3-2 to a controlling 6-2 going into the half. Nic Martin, Jack Camp and on Ecker each added a goal for Wayne.  Full Story

Pats Beat Cadets

The Patriots scored the first seven goals and held the Cadets scoreless until the second quarter in their 14-7 win. Penfield had eleven different players make their offensive scorebook. Attackman Max Spaan finished with 6g-1a, leading his team.  Full Story

Midlakes Over the Pride By One

Midlakes used a strong second quarter to secure a 11-10 win over Bloomfield-Honeoye. The Screaming Eagles held off a late push by the Pride hold on to their victory. The Pride scored the first two goals of the game.  Full Story

Pittsford Over Duxbury By One

Pittsford scored the first three goals and three of the last four goals in their 6-5 win over Duxbury (Massachusetts) in a game held at Hamilton College. Duxbury scored four straight unanswered goals spanning the 2nd and 3rd quarters and held the Panthers scoreless for 26 minutes.  Full Story

Schroeder 10 - Spencerport 6

Although Spencerport scored the first two goals of the game, Webster Schroeder scored nine of the next eleven goals to go from trailing by two to leading by five. Schroeder took over the lead with 9:26 in the second quarter on a goal from Jared Griffin and they never trailed again.  Full Story

Pittsford Over Thomas

Pittsford`s heralded defense held up to their hype in their 7-4 win over Webster Thomas. The Titans kept the game close and even took the lead for a short time in the third quarter before the Panthers scored the final four goals in the game. Pittsford's defense held the Titans scoreless for the first 14:16 and the last 13:32. Full Story

Mynderse 14 - Midlakes 13 in Overtime

Mynderse came out swinging and scored eight of the first nine goals in their 13-12 overtime win over Midlakes. The Blue Devils led in the first quarter 6-1 before adding two goals more in the top of the second quarter to lead 8-1 within the first two minutes.  Full Story

Penfield 11 - Fairport 9

Penfield defeated Fairport 11-9. The Patriots fought back the in the fourth quarter and scored four unanswered goals spanning 13:26 to defeat Fairport 11-9. The Patriots went from being down 7-8 to leading 11-8 with only 4:55 remaining in regulation. The Red Raiders could not fight back to overtime. The game was tied seven times with the largest lead going to an 11-8 Penfield lead. Fairport led four different times throughout the game. Full Story

Gates Chili 7 - Ath/Ody 5

Gates Chili scored four of the last five goals to defeat Greece Athena/Odyssey 7-5. The Thunder led 4-3 going into halftime before the Spartans held them scoreless for 28:43 spanning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. The Spartans were led in scoring by Joseph O`Hare with 3g. Midfielder Brian May (2g-1a) and Brett Kirkpatrick (1g-1a) also added to the scoring.  Full Story

Victor 7 - Irondequoit 6

Hours before the game Craig Whipple stepped down as Head Coach of the Eagles after posting an 81-24 record and winning four Section V titles since 2007. Junior Varsity Coach Mark Lovett was appointed by Athletic Director Anthony Lipani to finish out the season. The Eagles scored the first two goals of their game with Victor and then proceeded to play a very close game right down to the last minute but was unable to force overtime with the Blue Devils (5-1). McQuaid Jesuit scored five of the first six goals in their 11-7 win over Livonia. The Knights scored the first goal of the game on an unassisted goal by Jarrett Cook and they never trailed. Their largest lead was six goals in the third quarter after Cook scored his fourth goal with 0:10 remaining in the third quarter. Full Story

Thomas scored the first eight goals of the game and led 11-1 in the third quarter in their 12-9 win over Aquinas. The Little Irish scored eight of the last nine goals, including the last five goals of the game. Although the game was close for the first half, Geneva scored seven unanswered goals to start the third quarter in their 12-5 win over Waterloo. The game was 5-4 going into halftime but then the Panthers held the Indians scoreless for over twenty minutes.  Full Story

Schroeder 5 - Churchville-Chili 4

In the closest game of the night, Webster Schroeder held off a late advance and defeated Churchville-Chili with a 5-4 score. The Warriors led 5-1 with six minutes remaining before the Saints attempted a late comeback with the last three goals. The Saints scored with 0:37 remaining to bring the game within a single goal. Cadets Take Lightning

Hilton scored the final six goals in their 9-6 win over Greece Arcadia/Olympia. Hilton held the Lightning scoreless for the final 13:28. The Cadets started off the scoring 0:39 into the contest with Zeus Doser assisting Tyler Farrell. The next two goals came from Greece.  Full Story

Penfield scored the first five goals and held off a late push to defeat Orchard Park (Section 6), 9-6. The Patriots controlled the game for its entirety, holding their five goal lead until the fourth quarter. The Patriots were led in scoring by three players with 2g-1a each: Attackman Ryan Fulton, attackman James Stoler and midfielder Mitch Standera. Webster Schroeder scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter in order to defeat HF-L 9-8. The Warriors trailed at the start of the second quarter but scored four unanswered goals spanning into the third quarter to keep the game close. Mustangs Take Braves in Overtime

It truly was another classic Canandaigua-Penn Yan contest under the Mustang lights and with a large crowd on hand. After trading goals resulting in a 5-5 tie at halftime, Penn Yan took a 9-7 lead, but let the Braves back in as they scored three in the last quarter to force overtime. Full Story

Irondequoit Beats Geneva

Irondequoit overcame seventeen minutes in penalties, including a two minute, six on three disadvantage, to beat Geneva this afternoon 15-7. Irondequoit had the edge at the face off with 19-6 (76%) led by Mitch Culver, John Lombardi, and Trevor Carney. Full Story

Corning scored five goals in the fourth quarter, including the winning goal with 0:21 left in regulation. Churchville-Chili face off specialist Mike Caternolo won 16/23 today and added a goal. In the third quarter he registered his 200th career face off win. Full Story

On the last game day of the spring break there were only two games played/ Pal-Mac traveled to Wayne, where they struggled in the first half, but took control in the second to secure a 10-6 win. Full Story

It was a very close game throughout. Senior attackman Billy cooper scored an unassisted goal with 1:57 left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Junior defenseman Mike Perotto had a key face off possession in overtime and later, his brother Jonathan scored the game winner (assisted by Stephen Quinzi) for Pittsford.  Full Story

Senior attackman Tim Oddi won the game for Wayne in the second overtime period as the Eagles posted an 8-7 win over visiting Gates Chili. The Spartans open the game outscoring Wayne 4-2 in the first quarter, although the Eagles scored the first goal of the game when Andrew Jenkins took a pass from Tim Oddi at 10:57. Full Story

Freshman attackman Evan Kelly scored the game winning goal with 1:16 remaining in the first overtime period to give HF-L their 9-8 win over Wayne. The Cougars held off a late push by the Eagles with senior midfielder Ryan Kelly scoring the tying goal to send the game into overtime. The game was back and forth with both teams leading during the contest. Wayne scored the opening goal during man-up with Andrew Jenkins assisting Tim Oddi. Six minutes later HF-L scored their opening goal (also during man-up). Ryan Kelly scored with an assist from Tim Breau. Each team added another goal in the opening quarter and the first quarter ended with the score tied at 2-2. Full Story

The Pittsford offense came alive today nearly overshadowing the often hyped defense in their 12-6 win over the Section 6 perennial standout Class A team from Orchard Park. Eight different Panthers scored goals and Ryan Fairbrother won eleven of seventeen face offs.  Full Story

Pal-Mac Takes Out Eagles

Pal-Mac freshman goalie Jared Hurlbutt made a great one-on-one save while man down and then found Ben Reeves breaking out. Reeves then drove to the cage scoring the winning goal with 48.7 seconds remaining in the game. Winning the final face off Pal-Mac was able to run the clock out. Full Story

The Eagles started the game off strong with a four goal run spanning the end of the first and beginning of the second quarters. The Little Irish trailed by three goals with 5:12 remaining in regulation. Jonathan Olbrich scored the last three goals for Aquinas (the final two in regulation and the game winner in overtime). Schroeder Hosts Clinic for a CURE Saturday

Webster Schroeder is hosting a lacrosse clinic for student athletes in grades 2-8 to help raise money for CURE. Ryan Powell & the Rochester Rattlers will be running the clinic with the help of the high school players.
