Schroeder 5 - Churchville-Chili 4
NOTES: In the closest game of the night, Webster Schroeder held off a late advance and defeated Churchville-Chili with a 5-4 score. The Warriors led 5-1 with six minutes remaining before the Saints attempted a late comeback with the last three goals. The Saints scored with 0:37 remaining to bring the game within a single goal.
Churchville-Chili scored the opening goal on a man-up goal by Jake Mortier. The Warriors scored the next five goals and held the Saints scoreless for forty-five minutes. Schroeder added one goal in the first, third and fourth with two goals coming in the second quarter. Attackman Blake Balcaen scored two goals on two shots to lead the Warriors. Mortier scored two more late goals in the fourth quarter. The final goal of the game was scored by Aaron Buck with an assist from Trevor Hodgins.
In the cage for Schroeder, Willie Klan finished with 15 saves (79%). Midfielders David Laspina and Zac Cooley led in ground balls with four each for the Warriors. Churchville-Chili goalie Mike Yehl finished with 5s/3ga (63%). Attackman Trevor Hodgins led in ground balls with four for the Saints.
The Saints (2-1) will play Webster Thomas on Tuesday and then Corning next Saturday. The Warriors (3-3) travel to HF-L next Thursday.
