Players of the Week - Group 3
Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Geneva Club Deverages are sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.
In our third group we have three seniors who have had noteworthy performances in the last week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Bremer - Canandaigua Midfielder
Ryan Bremer is a senior in his third year on the Varsity and had a big performance last week when he scored three goals in the 9-6 win against Victor and then his four goals and two assists as the Gray Wolves defeated Corning 13-9 to preserve their undefeated season. This season he has scored fourteen goals and eight assists toward his 28g-24a career record.
Head Coach Deven York says "Ryan is the definition of a two-way middie. He can facilitate the offense, plays great defense and is incredible between the restraining lines. Hard to believe, but he can run all game. Exceptional leader and teammate."
Defensive Players of the Week
JW Smith - Midlakes Defenseman
JW Smith The third year Varsity defenseman had a great game as the Eagles won their game with Wayne. While holding his assignment scoreless, JW had a coast-to-coast goal to score his first career point. He also led the team with ground ball production and is known as the vocal leader of the defense.
Head Coach John Hicks says, “JW is a team captain and has worked very hard over the course of this off season. He leads by example and is always putting in the extra work and time to be the best he can be. He welcomes any challenge we throw his way. He is a vocal leader as well always communicating on the field. Our defense as a unit has been great together but he is definitely a big glue piece that helps keep their defensive bond strong.”
Colton Rose - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo Goalie
Colton Rose The senior goalie had a 91% save game against Brockport, allowing only one goal and the had a 76% game against Greece to give the Lakers two wins in their 3-2 season thus far. The third-year senior is committed to play for Wheeling after his graduation this spring.
Head Coach Mark Rumfola says, “Colton is great kid and is a pillar to our success currently and for the rest of the season. I believe his life time save percentage is around 62%. His lacrosse IQ is one of his greatest assets. He is hardworking, he is one of our captains, and he truly is a role model for the rest of our team on and off the field.”
