There were sixteen games played today as the regular season is starting to wind down. Pittsford came from behind to beat host Corning 8-7 in the closest game of the day. Thomas took Irondequoit by two (12-10) and Gananda beat Mynderse 11-8.

A full day of games today saw mostly mismatches but a number of interesting games. Penn Yan took a 10-7 game from Fairport and the Lightning won their game against Brockport in overtime.

The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6.

Among the seventeen games played today were two in Webster and they both had exciting finishes. Schroeder hosted Fairport in a game that started with a 1-1 half and ended with the Raiders winning 4-3.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

# 2726  Livonia over R-H in OT, Waterloo takes Midlakes 7-6

Irondequoit has a 15-9 win over visiting Ithaca while Livonia used a last minute flurry to take Rush-Henrietta in overtime. Waterloo and Midlakes played a close game, but the Indians held on to their one goal lead for the win.

In the only game on Wednesday, after a close half (9-8) the Rangers took off in the second half, scoring seven goals in the thirds and cruised to a 21-12 win at Arcadia.

Brighton`s Brady McDermott scored with 0:59 remaining in regulation to secure a 14-13 win over Webster Thomas. Aquinas used two overtime periods to secure their win from Canisius as all but one team in the section played games today.

On the biggest night thus far, there were eleven games played and the closest game was three goals as Gates Chili held off a last flurry of goals from the Greece Lightning, winning 12-9 and Churchville-Chili who defeated Spencerport 13-10.

As we enter the last two weeks of the regular season, there were four games played today. HF-L went up by a goal in the first quarter and then played evenly with the Greece Lightning until the last quarter where they added another.

There were fifteen games played in beautiful weather. Thomas senior midfielder Cam Isaac scored with six seconds left in the second overtime period to give Thomas an 11-10 win.

# 1403  Week in Review: Week 7

It is hard to imagine, but we are entering the final week of regular season games. The last games will be played on Friday and the tournaments will begin on May 21st. Two hundred and forty-seven games have been played thus far. Sixty-four (of seventy-three out of Section games scheduled) have been played. Section five teams have won forty-five (70%). Victor, Thomas, HF-L, Gananda and McQuaid Jesuit continue at the top of their leagues.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were most certainly a lot of exciting games played in the section today that included four one-goal games, two in overtime. Pittsford beat Brighton in overtime and Schroeder won the battle in Webster in overtime. The Finger Lakes Tournament began today with three good matchups.

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: On one of the warmest days of the season thus far, there were three games played today. Pittsford improved their record to 4-4 with a 15-7 win against Lancaster (Section 6). Senior attackman John Mozrall led the Panther offense with 5g and sophomore faceoff middie Dan Maggio won eleven of sixteen draws and led the team in ground balls with six. The Greece Storm ended the Gananda's undefeated record with an 11-8 win at home.

John Galbraith scored the final goal of Pittsford`s comeback victory over Webster Thomas 9-8 in the first overtime period. The Titans scored the opening goal and never trailed; however, the game was tied 5 times throughout the contest.

# 1213  Thursday: Victor Over Thomas

In what some were calling a possible Class B final, Victor took an 8-1 half to a 17-3 win against Webster Thomas as nine Blue Devils made the offensive scorebook. Freshman attackman Joey Pezzimenti led the scoring with 4g-1a. Chayse Ierlan made 13s (87%) in 38 minutes for Victor. Nick Mabe scored 2g for Thomas.

# 1199  Thursday: Victor Takes Out Pittsford

Victor defeated Pittsford for the fourth year and handed the Panthers their first loss of the season with their 6-3 win. Victor controlled nearly the entire contest and led 6-1 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the contest. Zach Estabrooks score four goals for the Blue Devils and goalie Chayse Ierlan made 7s (70%) for Victor. There was a large crowd and Pittsford asked for a $2.00 donation in support of the National Wounded Warrior Foundation in the Shootout for Soldiers that will be hosted by Canandaigua this summer.

Greece Arcadia/Olympia defeated Brockport 10-7 to increase their record to 2-7.  The Lightning have not won a game since their opener (also against Brockport) when they defeated the Blue Devils 13-12 (HERE).  With the loss, Brockport is also 2-7 on the season.

It was a full day of lacrosse today with fifteen games played by twenty-nine Section Five teams. Irondequoit won a close game with Canandaigua as junior midfielder Kessel Stefano scored with 9.2 seconds left to secure the 12-11 win at home.

March 28, 2017 - Nick and Andrew Leonardi scored their first Varsity points in tonight`s 13-12 win for Greece Arcadia/Olympia against Brockport.  Nick`s first point of his career came earlier with an assist to Adrian Romero; however, his first goal was off Andrew`s first point with 2:37 left in regulation to give the Lightning a 1 point lead and secure the victory.

Greece Arcadia/Odyssey played strong consistent lacrosse in their 11-8 win over Gates Chili. The Lightning scored 9 out of the first 11 goals to lead 9-2 with 6:27 remaining in the third quarter. Gates Chili scored 6 of the last 8 goals to make the final score look closer than the contest. Arc/Oly saw the return of senior Devon Zaov with 4g-1a.

Greece Arcadia/Olympia and Brockport had a tough back and forth game with Brockport coming out on top 7-6. The Blue Devils won for the first time since 2012. The Lightning came out in the opening quarter with the first two goals of the contest. Brockport responded with four unanswered goals from Quinton Caleb, Austin Myers and Austin Manchester (2).

# 733  Churchville Beats Lightning 14-10

NOTES:  Churchville-Chili took the lead back from Greece Arcadia/Olympia with 1:09 remaining in the first quarter and held off all their advances to defeat the Lightning 14-10. The Saints scored the final two goals of the contest to cement the victory. Gavin Catalano had a strong game for Gates between the pipes with 20 saves (59%) and was a key factor in keeping the Lightning in the game. Midfielder Matt McHale was a part of 60% of the scoring with 5g-1a.

Greece Arcadia/Olympia scored six out of seven straight goals to secure their 10-6 win over Brockport. The game was close for the first two quarters before the Lightning opened up their scoring in the late second/early third quarters. Quinton Caleb score the opening goal of the contest for the Blue Devils with an assist from Austin Myers. Myers finished with a team leading 1g-2a. Caleb led the Blue Devils in shots with 10 (4 on cage).

NOTES:  In the first Storm game of the season, Greece Athena/Odyssey defeated Greece Arcadia/Olympia 10-9. Tonight, the Lightning took revenge, defeating the Thunder 11-10. Arc/Oly scored the opening goal of the game and never trailed in the victory. The Thunder tied the game once (4-4) and had the score within a single goal four times, but could not take the lead.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2015 season. Senior midfielder Kevin Hill (Thomas), attackman, Connor Hulme (Canandaigua) and Long Stick Defenseman Allen Thibodeau (Fairport) were named US Lacrosse Academic All Americans. Senior midfielder Brandon Barker (Pittsford) along with senior attackman Max Spaan (Penfield) and senior goalie Willie Klan (Penfield) selected as US Lacrosse All Americans. Juniors Jared Conners(Pittsford-LSM), T.D. Ierlan (Victor mid/fo) and Jamie Trimboli (Victor - mid) were also named as US Lacrosse All Americans.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2016 season. Senior defenseman Jared Conners (Pittsford), midfielder/Face off specialtis T.D. Ierlan (Victor), midfielder Ryan Maloney (Victor) and midfielder Jamie Trimboli (Victor) were named US Lacrosse All Americans from Monroe County.
