Thursday: Eleven Games - Mostly Mismatches
On the biggest night thus far, there were eleven games played and the closest game was three goals as Gates Chili held off a last flurry of goals from the Greece Lightning, winning 12-9 and Churchville-Chili who defeated Spencerport 13-10. Other winners were Mynderse, Penn Yan, Pittsford, Fairport, McQuaid Jesuit, Haverling, Canandaigua, Aquinas and Victor.

-- NOTES: After losing to Penfield the last four times, Fairport defeated the Patriots 12-8 tonight. The Red Raiders scored five unanswered goals spanning the end of the second and start of the third quarters to take the 10-3 lead. The Patriots scored the final three goals. The Red Raiders never trailed and were only tied for five minutes in the first quarter. Junior attackman TJ Hendricks finished with 5g-2a to lead the Red Raiders. Senior Cameron Gebhardt (3g-2a), junior Kyle McAvoy (2g-1a) and sophomore Reese Burek (1g-2a) also added high points for the Red Raiders. In the cage, Tyler Wetzel (2 saves) and Jake Santini (1 save) split time.

-- NOTES: Gates-Chili defeated Gates Arcadia/Olympia 12-9. The Spartans scored the first six unanswered goals before Greece Arc/Oly got on the scoreboard. The Lightning scored six of the next seven to bring the game to 8-6 late in the third quarter. Joseph O`Hare had another big game for the Spartans and finished with (4g-2a). He now leads his team in points with 7g-3a. Senior midfielder Richard Cato scored the game winning in the third quarter, it was his first goal of the season.

-- SPORTSFIVE REPORT: After a scoreless first quarter, Churchville-Chili scored three goals during a non-releasable penalty to start off scoring on their way to a 13-10 win over Spencerport. The game was all about scoring runs. The first quarter had no scoring with both goalies coming up with big saves. Matt Cobb (Churchville-Chili) had 4 in the first quarter and nine overall and Connor MacKenzie (Spencerport) had 5 in the first quarter and eleven overall.
The Saints scored the first three goals to begin the second quarter. Corey Yunker, Jacob Buck and Patrick Sheridan scored for Churchville-Chili. The next three goals were scored by the Rangers to tie the game. Owen VanWie, Colin McElligott and Alex Renz scored for Spencerport. Churchville-Chili scored two more goals to end the quarter and four more to start the third. The six goal run put the Saints up 9-3.
Spencerport returned to scoring at the end of the third quarter adding four of their own and pulling to score to 9-7. Victor Pasucci scored back to back goals and McElligott scored 1g-2a in the run. Churchville-Chili scored one more goal to end the third quarter and hold a 10-7 lead going into the final 12 minutes. Churchville-Chili continued their scoring in the fourth with three more goals. Spencerport added another three but never got closer than 3 goals behind.
