Tuesday: Brighton Takes Thomas and AQ wins in OT
Brighton`s Brady McDermott scored with 0:59 remaining in regulation to secure a 14-13 win over Webster Thomas. Aquinas used two overtime periods to secure their win from Canisius as all but one team in the section played games today.

-- SPORTSFIVE REPORT: Brighton`s Brady McDermott scored his second goal of the night with 0:59 remaining in regulation to secure a 14-13 win over Webster Thomas. Although the game was tied multiple times late in the game, Thomas had not held a lead since 10:17 left in the third quarter. The Game started off with Thomas scoring back to back goals from Pierce Currie (with assists from Travis Ford and Brad Smith). Brighton`s opening goal was scored by Brett Randall with an assist from Max Coke. Randall finished with a team leading 3g-3a for the Barons. Currie added his third goal with 7:29 remaining in the first quarter to take the 3-1 lead for the Titans.
Brighton scored two quick goals to tie the score for the first time at 3-3. Owen Ronchetti and Coke scored for Brighton. Each team added one goal before the conclusion of the first quarter to tie the game for the second time at 4-4. In the second quarter, Thomas scored first with an unassisted tally from Brad Smith. Brighton`s Parker Lawrence and Randall scored back to back goals to give the Barons their first lead of the contest at 6-5. Thomas` Currie added his forth to tie the game for the fourth time. Trevor Ford and Nick Mabe scored for Thomas to give them another lead with 5:08 remaining in the opening half. The Barons scored the final goal of the half with an unassisted goal form Martin Lalisse. Thomas led 8-7 going into halftime.
In the second half, Brighton came out strong. Thomas scored the first goal and then Brighton scored five of the next six goals to go from being behind 9-7 to leading 12-10. The Titans fought back to a tie game with back to back goals from Ford. With 3:08 remaining in the game the score was tied 12-12. Coke scored his second of the game to take the 13-12 lead before Ford scored his third in a row (4g-2a total) to tie the game for the fifth time at 13-13. A penalty against the Titans with 1:10 remaining, gave McDermott his shot at the cage during man-up and the Barons took home the victory.
In the cage for Brighton, Caleb Green finished with six saves. For Thomas, Ben Yonko finished with seven saves.

-- NOTES: It was a game of two halves with weather that included snow, rain and sun. Irondequoit led 5-2 at the halftime break, but Canandaigua came back in the third with Mitchell Schaefer scoring three of his 4g-2a in a row to tie and then hold on the the lead for the rest of the game. Canandaigua allowed only two offensive possessions in the last quarter and had the bulk of the offensive ball time, in [part due to Jon Post who won fourteen of twenty face offs. Coach Mulheron summed it up, "This was a total team effort and great comeback by our boys".

-- NOTES: In the closest game of the night, Aquinas defeated Canisius 12-11 in the second overtime period. Without a Canisius roster, a goal for goal recount would be difficult to read. The full scoring table can be read on the stats page. The game was back and forth with neither team scoring a run of more than three goals. Aquinas never scored more than two goals back to back in their victory. There were only two times that a team lead by two goals. Canisius led 4-2 early in the second quarter and Aquinas led 10-8 late in the fourth quarter.
The Crusaders scored three goals after trailing 10-8 to take an 11-10 lead with 5:45 remaining in the game. Jamir Jones scored back to back goals for the Little Irish to send the game into overtime and then to take the victory. Jones finished with 3g for the Little Irish. Senior midfielder Nick Tschetter finished with a team leading 4g-3a in the game. He also had 3 takes and 4 ground balls.
