Tuesday: Penn Yan over Fairport, Lightning Wins in OT
A full day of games today saw mostly mismatches but a number of interesting games. Penn Yan took a 10-7 game from Fairport and the Lightning won their game against Brockport in overtime. Bloomfield-Honeoye won their game against Mynderse and HF-L won their game over Spencerport 15-12. Schroeder beat Irondequoit 14-7. Other winners were Midlakes, Canandaigua, Churchville-Chili (still undefeated), Gananda, Pittsford, Victor (still undefeated), Thomas and Aquinas.

-- NOTES: In a game that began close, Bloomfield-Honeoye defeated Mynderse 9-5. The Pride scored the game opening goal with a nice feed from Jon Marble to Tyler Joslyn. The lead held for almost seven minutes before Mynderse scored their opening goal with 0:59 left in the first quarter. The Blue Devils took their only lead of the game with 0:08 left on the clock and a goal from Aidan Trout. The Pride kept up their pressure and scored four unanswered in the second quarter to lead 5-2 at the half. They kept the lead for the second half. In the cage for Bloomfield-Honeoye, Devin Campbell recorded 6 saves at 55%.

-- NOTES: Penn Yan scored the opening goal and never trailed in their 10-7 win over Fairport. The Mustangs steadily increased their lead over the entire game. The score was only tied once (1-1 in the first). In the second quarter the closest the game got was Penn Yan leading by one (4-3). The closest score of the third quarter was 8-5 Mustangs.
Tate Stewart scored the opening goal for Penn Yan with an assist from Sean Emerson. 90 seconds later, Fairport tied the game for the only time with Cameron Gebhardt scoring off a feed from Reese Burek. The Mustangs scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead to end the quarter. Stewart added two more and Emerson added the third. Fairport kept the game close in the second quarter, but Penn Yan scored four unanswered (two to end the 2nd and two to start the 3rd) to take their largest lead 8-5. Both teams added two goals in the final quarter. Between the pipes, Tyler Wetzel finished with 12 saves for the Red Raiders. For Penn Yan, Gage Ponsetti recorded 14 saves.

-- NOTES: It was a game for records today as Brockport senior attackman Chad Tobey notched his 100th career goal. Greece Lightning senior defenseman Jacob Corcoran made his 200th career take away in the game and freshman attackman Colin Boglione scored his first varsity goal for the lightning and then added two more.

-- SPORTSFIVE REPORT: HF-L took the lead in the second quarter and never trailed again in their 15-12 win over Spencerport. This is the first loss for Spencerport in the last seven games. The game was back and forth in the first quarter and even though the Cougars kept the lead for three quarters, the game was close throughout.
Spencerport came out and scored the first goal only 0:35 into the contest with Owen VanWie scoring unassisted. They held the lead for four minutes until Jonathan Roth assisted Dylan Stratton to tie the game at 1-1. The Ranger scored two quick goals to take their largest lead of the game 3-1 with scoring form Victor Pascucci and Alex Renz. The Cougars exploded with the next six goals. They scored two to end the first quarter (Stratton and Garrett Ruff) tied at 3-3.
The first four goals of the second quarter set HFL ahead 7-3. Roth scored back to back with assists from Ruff and then Ruff scored one of his own unassisted at 7:47. Tyler Kaufman scored the final goal of the run with 6:04 remaining in the first half. Spencerport slowly chipped away at the lead scoring two goals before Stratton scored the last goal of the half for HF-L with 0:17 remaining and they led 8-5 at halftime.
Once again, the Rangers chipped at the lead scoring two goals back to back. VanWie and Colin McElligott scored for the Rangers to pull them within a single goal. HF-L scored 0:13 later and added three more after that to take the four goal lead for the second time (Kaufman (x2), Andrew Mapstone and Thomas Bailey). Spencerport scored a pair to end the third quarter; HFL led 12-9 after 36 minutes.
Spencerport scored three of the first four to start the final quarter. Renz scored unassisted with 7:31 remaining in regulation to once again put the Rangers within a single goal. However, that was the last goal for them and the Cougars added two more before the final horn. Parker Hotchkiss scored the final goal for HFL with 2:21 remaining on the clock. In the cage for HFL, Ben Tomaszewski recorded 6 saves. Spencerport's Connor MacKenzie also recorded 6 saves.
