Pittsford and Schroeder Win OT games
Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were most certainly a lot of exciting games played in the section today that included four one-goal games, two in overtime. Pittsford beat Brighton in overtime and Schroeder won the battle in Webster in overtime. The Finger Lakes Tournament began today with three good matchups.
Connor Ball scored an unassisted goal 1:13 into the first overtime period to give Webster Schroeder their second straight overtime win. The Warriors defeated Webster Thomas 11-10 in the inter-district match. The game was back and forth for its entirety. The score was never further apart than a two goal difference. Story Continues...
Senior attackman John Mozrall finished the game with 5g-1a in Pittsford’s 10-9 overtime win over Brighton. Mozrall scored the game winning goal with 1:33 remaining in the first overtime period although Brighton controlled the game for the majority. The Barons took the lead early with goals from Luka Stanat and Brady McDermott to open the game. Pittsford kept the game close over all four quarters. With 4:16 remaining in regulation, Shea McDonald scored unassisted to pull ahead 9-8. As time is counting down, John Avery finds Ben DiGiovanni to force overtime with only 0:04 on clock.
The Finger Lakes League Tournament started today with some good matchups. Midlakes played a high scoring game and won 17-15 over Marcus Whitman despite a five goal charge back by the Wildcats. Matt Mattoon led the scoring for Midlakes with 3g-5a. Wyatt Smith won 33 of 34 draws for the Eagles. Timmy Cornish led the scoring for Whitman with 2g-3a including his 100th career goal.
Geneva found revenger of their overtime loss earlier in the season as they defeated Gananda 19-9 behind the offensive effort by Sam Miller who posted 9g-5a. Newark won their game with Mynderse as Parker Casselman`s eight goals. A strong fourth quarter for Wayne gave them the 9-8 victory over Pal-Mac. Zach Boyatzies scored 2g-2a for the Eagles. Bloomfield-Honeoye scored two goals in their fourth quarter to give them a 7-6 win over Waterloo. Alex Roach scored 5g in the game.
Eastridge fought back from a 4-9 deficit early in the third quarter to defeat Gates Chili 10-9. The Lancers scored the final six goals of the game. Eastridge took an early lead with the first 3 goals coming from Lancers. Justyn Hiscock and Brandon Lappetito (2) scored for the Lancers. Gates Chili responded with six unanswered goals. Three to finish out the first quarter and take a 3-3 tie into the second quarter. Then three more to start out the second quarter. Eastridge scored a single goal with 0:51 remaining in the half. AJ Kimber scored his lone goal of the game to make the score 6-4 at halftime.
Gates Chili continued early in the third with three more unanswered goals. Connor Hamilton scored the first two and Kyle Krystan scored the final Spartan goal. Over the final 20 minutes, the Lancer defense held Gates Chili scoreless while their offense added on seven goals. Hiscock scored three of the final goals with Kimber, Lappetito and Jeff Falco scoring the remaining three.
In GRALL Action, McQuaid Jesuit and Haverling combines for 30 goals as the Knights used thirteen players in the offensive book including Jack Billitier who scored 5g-1a in the 18-12 win taking the Knights to 10-2 on the season.
The Greece Storm boosted their record to 10-3 with a 13-12 win over visiting HF-L (11-3). Adrian Romero scored 6g and Matt McHale added 5g for the Storm while Garrett Ruff scored 5g-1a for the Cougars.
Also winning today were Aquinas, Victor, Spencerport, Fairport, Penfield.
