Fairport Holds Canandaigua scoreless in Two Quarters

Fairport scored six of the last eight goals to defeat Canandaigua 8-5.  The Red Raiders consistently scored two goals in each quarter; while the Braves scored 4 goals in the second quarter and the final goal of the match.  Fairport scored the opening two goals of the first quarter while their defense held the Braves scoreless for 13 minutes. Victor over Pittsford, Brighton Over Schroeder

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were four one-goal games today as HF-L beat Spencerport, Aquinas bested Livonia-Avon in overtime, Waterloo beat B-H and Brighton defeated Schroeder. Pittsford played a close game but lost to Victor and Thomas remained undefeated with thweir win over Hilton. Full Story

Newark Uses Second Half for Win at East

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: After a 4-3 half, Newark scored four in the third an five in the fourth quarters to give them the win over East United. Senior midfielder Parker Casselman led the offense with 4g-1a while senior attackman Ryan Farley added 3g. Junior goalie Talyn Pierce recorded eight saves (62%). Full Story

Victor Scores Seven Unanswered in Win

After a close half, Victor pulled away and defeated Webster Schroeder 9-4.  The Warriors played a close fought quarter and a half before Victor scored seven unanswered goals spanning the last three quarters.  Victor opened up the soring with Mitchell Cain assisting Alexander Mabbett 1:09 into the game.  Schroeder responded with back to back goals to take the lead.  Jonathan Kay assisted Hunter Olsen for an outside midrange shot.  Three minutes later, Connor Bollin assisted Justin Connolly to the left flat.  The first quarter continued with back and forth attempts at the cage.  Neither team scored until Victor came off a dead ball with 0:02 remaining.  A quick pass onto the crease by Sam Lambert to Cain tied the game at 2-2 as time expired. Irondequoit over Fairport and CA over Brighton

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Canandaigua broke three ties with Brighton and then held off a surge by the Barons to hang on to a 7-6 victory at home tonight. Irondequoit scored four goals in the third quarter that gave them a 7-6 win over visiting Fairport. Thomas and Penfield played a close first half ending in a 6-6 tie, but in the second half the Titans (9-0) pulled away for a 14-11 victory at home. Full Story

Greece Ends Gananda Streak

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: On one of the warmest days of the season thus far, there were three games played today. Pittsford improved their record to 4-4 with a 15-7 win against Lancaster (Section 6). Senior attackman John Mozrall led the Panther offense with 5g and sophomore faceoff middie Dan Maggio won eleven of sixteen draws and led the team in ground balls with six. The Greece Storm ended the Gananda's undefeated record with an 11-8 win at home.  Full Story

Week in Review: Week 4

There were finally a couple of days with sunshine last week . One hundred and thirty-five games have been played thus far. With Victor's loss to an impressive Loyola Academy, there are now two teams that are still undefeated with Webster Thomas (8-0) in the lead and Gananda in at 6-0, Thirty-four (of seventy-four out of Section games scheduled) have been played. Section five teams have won twenty (59%). Victor, Thomas, HFL, Gananda and McQuaid Jesuit are each at the top of their leagues with undefeated league records. Full Story

Wayne Wins Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure

In the second game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the boy’s of Wayne defeated Pal-Mac 17-9.  This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times.  The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year.  Prior to the Boy’s match-up, the Girls played with Pal-Mac defeating Wayne 20-2.  The Girl's story can be found HERE. Irondequoit and Hilton Get Overtime Wins

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Jack Brennan scored the overtime goal to give Irondequoit a 12-11 win over HFL tonight. Hilton won an 8-7 overtime win when Justin Mosher scored on a feed from Jordan DePetres. Marcus Whitman won an 11-9 victory over Gates Chili and Midlakes had a 10-8 win overt Mynderse. Full Story

Victor Falls to Loyola Academy

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: The Loyola Academy Ramblers travelled up to New York this week to faceoff against the best we have to offer.  They began the trip with today’s 7-6 win over Victor.  Tomorrow they face West Genesee and on Sunday they face Ithaca.  The Blue Devils took an early lead that the Rambler slowly chipped away at to force a 6-6 tie early in the fourth and then the game winning goal with 4:21 remaining. Meanwhile, Aquinas won their game today with Canisius of Section 6. Full Story

Penfield Over Pittsford, Irondequoit over CA

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were fourteen games played today, some in the snow, but all in the cold. Most games were not very close but Mynderse fought back from a 6-3 deficit to defeat Waterloo 8-7. Penfield defeated Pittsford and Midlakes beat the Pride. Victor, Gananda and Thomas all remain undefeated. Full Story

Gananda Wins in Double Overtime

Patrick Shanley scored the game winning overtime in the second overtime period to earn Gananda the 9-8 win over Geneva.  The Blue Panthers won their second one goal game in a row to remain undefeated at 6-0.  The Panthers fought back to force a tie with the last three goals of the game but they could not retake the lead in the final four minutes. Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: A couple of games were postponed, but fourteen were able to play today and three were one-goal games. Penn Yan scored their winning goal in the last quater as they defeated Westhill (Section 3) 5-4. Senior midfielder Austin Blumbergs led the Mustangs with four goals and sophomore goalie Jeff Kinyon made twelve saves (75%). Thomas used a goal in the last five minutes of the game to defeat Fairport 11-10 and Patrick Shanley scored an unassisted goal in the second overtime period to give Gananda the 9-8 win at Geneva. Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: Three games were played on this rainy day. Haverling beat visiting Livonia-Avon as Jonathan Deets led the Rams with 4g-3a. Mynderse had a win against Batavia with Owen Lorenzetti leading Mynderse with 4g-5a. Wayne had a 13-16 win against Marcus Whitman with Spencer Quinn posting 6g for the Eagle who won their first game of the new season. Full Story

Penn Yan Wins in Double OT

SATURDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Although the forecast called for an ice storm throughout the day, nine games were able to be completed on a very cold day. Penn Yan won in double overtime with a goal by Colton Smith. Gananda won an exciting 11-10 victory over Pal-Mac as the combination of seniors Brett Cunningham and Henry Bush combined for seven goals which proved to be the difference. Spencerport and Schroeder had two ties before the Warriors scored two goals in the last quarter for a 6-4 win. Full Story

Gananda defeated Pal-Mac 11-10 and held off the Red Raiders attempts to force overtime.  The Blue Panthers were led by seniors Brett Cunningham and Henry Bush who combined for 7 of the 11 goals.  Face off midfielder Evan Smith finished 11/20, including a key win late to keep the ball out of the Red Raiders hands. Williamsville-East Defeated Rush-Henrietta

FRIDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Despite the efforts of junior goalie Cam Kuzniar who made seventeen saves (63%), Williamsville-East (Section 6) beat Rush-Henrietta 19-6 in the only game played on Friday. Junior attackman Zack Lenhard led the Royal Comets offense with 3g-1a.  Full Story

Pittsford Holds Off Against Fairport

Pittsford scored the game opener and although Fairport forced a single tie, the Panthers never trailed in their 7-6 win over the Red Raiders.  Harrison Cross scored the opening goal 1:59 into the first quarter.  Ryan Dumont, who led the Panthers with 2g-1a, got his assist on the opening goal.  Matt Powers scored the second Panther goal less than two minutes later.  The Red Raiders responded with two goals of their own to force the tie.  Colin Peers and Klay Stuver scored for Fairport. Coons Lifts Lakers to OT Victory

Cullen Coons scored his third goal of the game just over one minute into the first overtime period to give Livonia-Avon the 17-16 win over Marcus Whitman.  Ryan Lambert, who led Livona-Avon with 6g-1a, recorded his lone assist on the overtime goal.  Livonia-Avon controlled the majority of the first three quarters before the Wildcats fought back in the fourth to take their first lead of the game with 6:01 remaining in regulation. THURSDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Three of the fourteen games played today were one-goal games. Pittsford fended off a last minute barrage from Fairport, Brighton saw a goal from Lukas Stanat (5g) to break their tie with Hilton and Cullen Coons scored his third goal of the game in the first overtime period to give Livonia-Avon the 17-16 win over Marcus Whitman. Haverling and East United Win Today

THURSDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: East United won their first Varsity game today with a 22-3 victory over Batavia who reports that senior midfielder Matthew Fox led the scoring with 9g-4a. Haverling hosted Watkins Glen and beat them 19-1 with Connor Cupp scoring 6g-2a with eleven others making the offensive book. Full Story
