CA takes Pittsford for their 2nd OT win

TUESDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior midfielder Alex Burley came up big for Canandaigua, scoring the tying and winning goals to give the Braves a 7-6 win at Pittsford that saw six ties. In what can only be described as surprising, Hilton scored eight unanswered goals in the first and second periods only to give up eight goals and the 11-10 win to Penfield. Max Hoadley scored the winning goal for the Patriots with 0:02 left in regulation. Gates Chili found themselves tied with Brockport early in the third quarter and after scoring two in a row, held off a last charge by the Blue Devils to take the 6-5 win. Full Story

Burley Scores Game Winning Goal in Second OT

After a game that was tied at every step, Senior Alex Burley scored his fourth goal in the second overtime period to give Canandaigua their second overtime win of the season over Pittsford 7-6.  The Braves improve to 3-1 after their overtime wins vs. Penn Yan last week and Pittsford this week.  Burley was key in their victory, scoring both the game tying and game winning goals. Fingar Leads Gates Chili to Victory

Gates Chili scored the first goal of the game and although Brockport forced the tie once, the Spartans never trailed.  Gates Chili scored three goals to lead off the game in the first seven minutes.  Blake Palozzi scored the game opened unassisted.  Kyle Fingar scored the next two (the first assisted by Kyle Krystan).  The Blue Devils responded with Ashton Howlett scoring unassisted to finish the first quarter at 3-1 Gates Chili. Thomas Holds off IQ to Remain Undefeated

In a game that was dictated by halves, Thomas played a dominating first half to defeat Irondequoit 10-7.  The Titans led 8-1 late in the second quarter and although the Eagles attempted to fight back, the deficit was too large.  They never got the score closer than two goals.  The Titans remain undefeated at 4-0 with their closest matchup of the season. Week in Review: Week 2

The season is underway and the break is over. Forty-seven games have been played thus far by thirty-three teams. Eleven teams that have played games are still undefeated with Webster Thomas (3-0) and HF-L (2-0) in the lead. Twenty (of seventy-three games scheduled) have been played. Section five teams have won twelve (60%). Full Story

Penfield Scores Six of Last Seven in Win

Penfield scored the final three goals of the game to defeat West Islip 9-7.  The Lions have played a tough opening schedule and are currently 1-4, with their most recent loss to Ward Melville in OT 6-5.  The Patriots, now 3-1, came into today’s game off their lone loss to West Genesee earlier in the week. Penfield Takes down West Islip

SATURDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Local games were postponed due to cold and sometimes snowy weather. Thre out of town games, however were played as the vacation week came to an end. Penfield used the last quarter to get their 9-7 win against West Islip (Section 11). Pal-Mac lost to Cathedral Prep (Erie, PA) and Pittsford lost to Baldwinsville (Section 3). Full Story

Canandaigua Takes Penn Yan in OT

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: It's been a busy vactation week for the Canandaigua Braves as they folowed at Win at Geneva with a win over Penn Yan in overtime tonight. Pal-Mac traveled to Erie, PA for a 19-9 win against Erie McDowell and McQuaid won in Maryland. Full Story

McQuaid Jesuit Wins in Baltimore

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: It certainly was a team effort as the McQuaid Jesuit Knights overcame a 4-1 deficit with five second quarter goals to give them a 9-7 win in Baltimore against the Archbishop Curley Friars(4-2). Although eight different players made the offensive book, junior attackman Ryan McEvily led the offensive effort with 2g-2a and senior midfielder Will Harvey added 1g-2a.  Full Story

CA Defeats Geneva during Vacation Week

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: It's a slow week during the spring break, but Tuesday saw seven games played. Pal-Mac, Webster Thomas and Penn Yan each outscored their opponents with big numbers. Full Story

West Genesee Defeats Penfield

West Genesee scored six of the first eight goals in their 13-10 win over Penfield.  The Wildcats were led in scoring by Max Rosa with 6g.  Although the Patriots kept the game close and forced a tie three times, West Genesee held control through most of the second half.  In the fourth quarter, Penfield never got closer than two. Penfield Falls to WG and Haverling Wins on the Road

SATURDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: There was only "one game in town" today, while Haverling was on the road at Chenango Valley where they won 12-11. Meanwhile, Penfield hosted West Gneseee where they played a good game with the Wildcats, but fell 13-10. Full Story

Midlakes Wins in Overtime

Matt Mattoon scored his lone goal of the game in the first overtime period to give Midlakes a win in their season opener.  The Screaming Eagles led 10-6 with just over six minutes remaining before Newark went on a four goal streak to force overtime.  The Screaming Eagles led or were tied for the entire contest, but the Reds kept the game close throughout.  The four goal lead with six minutes left was the largest margin in the game. Irondequoit Pulls Ahead in Final Quarter

After seven ties, Irondequoit pulled away and defeated Pittsford 11-8 in their season opener.  This was the first time that the Eagles have defeated the Panthers since 2012.  The Panthers are 14-8 since 2003 and had won the last five times that the teams had met. Full Story

Victor Holds Off JD for Win in Season Opener

Victor scored the first three goals of the contest and led the entire game in their 13-10 win over Jamesville-Dewitt.  Although the Red Rams kept the game close in the second half, they never tied the game.  Victor scored seven of the first eight goals before JD began their comeback with six of the next seven.  Since 2003, Victor and JD have played four times with each team now winning twice. Schroeder Defeats Canandaigua for First Time Since 2003

Schroeder scored the final four goals of the game to defeat Canandaigua 8-5.  The Warriors led for the majority of the game after a strong start and finish.  The Braves stayed in the game late into the third quarter; however, the Warriors held them scoreless in the final 17 minutes to secure the win.  This is first time that Schroeder has defeated Canandaigua since 2003. Irondequoit Over Pittsford and Midlakes Wins in OT

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: Of the eleven games pplayed today on the eve of spring break, most were played in wet conditions. The big exception was Victor who hosted Jamesville-DeWitt at the Pinnacle indoor facility in Victor. The Blue Devils took a commanding lead, at one point up 7-1, but the highly regarded and NYS Class C finalist came back and made for an exciting finish with Victor the winner 13-10. Full Story

Pittsford holds Off C-C for win

Pittsford scored five unanswered goals spanning the first and second quarters to secure their 10-6 win over Churchville-Chili.  The Saints scored the opening goal and kept the game close for the first quarter.  Pittsford took over in the second quarter to take a 6-2 lead that the Saints couldn’t come back from.  Churchville-Chili continued to fight and brought the game within two late in the game but could not get any closer. Spencerport scores Nine of Ten straight in Win

Spencerport scored nine out of ten straight goals to defeat Greece Storm 10-6.  The Rangers were led in scoring by Mark Schnauber with 2g-2a.  Seven players made the offensive book with six of the seven scoring more than one point. Full Story

Brockport Comes Back in Fourth

Brockport outscored Eastridge 4-1 in the fourth quarter to comeback and win 9-8 over the Lancers.  The Blue Devils led in the first half before Eastridge fought back to a two goals lead in the third quarter.  The Lancers held Brockport scoreless for sixteen minutes and added four of their own in that time.  Brockport scored four of the final five goals to secure their win. Fairport Wins in Overtime

Fairport and Hilton played a back and forth game this afternoon.  The Red Raiders led through most of the game; however, the Cadets took their first lead of the game with 7:13 remaining in the fourth quarter.  The Red Raiders scored the final goal of regulation to send the game into overtime. Forty-five seconds into the first overtime period, Brennan Maloney scored off a feed from Spencer Bell to give the Red Raiders the win. Full Story

Fairport Takes Hilton in Overtime

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: It rained most of the day, but the rain did not stop any of the twelve scheduled games today. Although a number of mismatches, there were a number of closer games including visiting Fairport winning an overtime game from Hilton 8-7. Senior attackman Brandon Maloney (4g) scored the game winning goal less than a minute into overtime. More on Fairport/Hilton Full Story

Corning over McQuaid 14-7

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: McQuaid Jesuit (1-1) traveled to Corning for a late game today which was won by the Hawks with a score of 14-7. Full Story

Gananda Opens Season with a 17-6 win over Amherst

SATURDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: The GRALL opened up today as McQuaid Jesuit under new Head Coach Terry Corcoran defeated the Haverling Rams 15-7 in an early morning game at Hobart College. Jack Bilitier led the Knights with 6g-1a while Jon added 4g-1 in the win. Full Story
