Penfield Over Pittsford, Irondequoit over CA
Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were fourteen games played today, some in the snow, but all in the cold. Most games were not very close but Mynderse fought back from a 6-3 deficit to defeat Waterloo 8-7. Penfield defeated Pittsford and Midlakes beat the Pride. Victor, Gananda and Thomas all remain undefeated.
After a close first half, Fairport scored eleven of the last twelve goals to defeat Churchville-Chili 13-5. The Saints led 4-2 with 8:13 remaining in the second quarter before the Red Raiders began their scoring run. The first run was six straight goals that held the Saints scoreless for over 12 minutes. Spencer Bell led in scoring for Fairport with 4g-2a. Jacob Buck led the Saints with 1g-3a.
Mynderse fought back from a 6-3 deficit to defeat Waterloo 8-7. The Blue Devils led early after scoring the first two goals. Waterloo responded by scoring six of the next seven to lead 6-3 with 9:17 remaining in the third quarter. Mynderse slowly fought back to tie at 6-6 and then again at 7-7. The game winning goal was scored by Ethan Spinner with a feed from Ian Anderson with 1:56 left in regulation. Andrew Peterman finished 16/18 at the face-off draw and was instrumental in giving the Blue Devils possession. Tyler Colton and Toby Loucks each recorded 3g for the Indians.
The Greece Storm and Spencerport played close for a half before the Storm pulled away and defeated the Rangers 12-6. The Rangers led 5-3 at halftime, before the Storm scored seven unanswered goals through the entire third and a portion of the fourth quarters. Greece held the Rangers scoreless for nearly twenty minutes. Owen VanWie finished 13/18 at the faceoff for Spencerport. Junior attackman Trevor Gilliard finished with 4g-2a to lead the Storm.
Penfield scored the opening three goals and although Pittsford kept the game competitive, the Patriots never trailed in their 9-6 win. Pittsford forced a pair of ties during the game at 3-3 and 4-4; however, each time they got close, Penfield re-took the lead. After Pittsford forced the second tie at 4-4, Penfield responded with five unanswered goals that held Pittsford scoreless for 15 minutes spanning the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters. John Mozrall (3g) and Sonny Imburgia (2g-1a) led in scoring for the Panthers. Joey Barboza, Jack Cummings and Michael Mitchell each scored 2g-1a for Penfield.
Ashton Stidd had twelve saves and Trevor Schmidt had six assists for Eastridge as they defeated Brockport. Trey Kinner had nine saves (60%) and Connor DiDomineck recorded 1g-7a for Haverling in their win over Notre Dame (Section 4). Tyler Kaufman (3g-4a) and Andrew Mapstone (4g-2a) helped HF-L increased their record to 6-1 as they beat Gates Chili. Chayse Ierlan had seven saves (88%) and twelve played made the offensive book as Victor beat Brighton. Midlakes goalie Jacob Borrelli recorded sixteen saves (76%) to help give the Eagles their victory over the visiting Pride. Connor Bollin has 2g-2a to lead seven other teammates on the offensive book as Schroeder beat Wayne.
Also winning today were Geneva and Pal-Mac.
