December 8, 2014 - Junior attackman Matt Malone, has made his commitment to Le Moyne College (Syracuse) after his graduation from Pittsford in 2016. December 13, 2014 - After spending his eighth grade and freshman year with the Lightning Varsity, current sophomore goalie Gavin Catalano announced this week that he has made a verbal commitment to St. John`s University (New York City) after his graduation from Arcadia in 2017. December 13, 2014 - Another Pittsford junior has made a commitment to study and play at Le Moyne College (Syracuse) after graduation in 2016. Junior defenseman Will Pieterse, has made his commitment recently after considering Hobart, Siena, Mercyhurst and Canisius. Gananda Central senior midfielder, Nick Rapp has announced his decision to attend and play lacrosse for the St. John Fisher Cardinals. Nick has been a Varsity starter for the Panthers since his Freshman year. Last year he recorded 12g-36a and scored in eighteen of the Blue Panther games. # 1434 Victor Wins in Overtime Alexander Mabbett scored off a feed from Joey Pezzimenti 1:59 into the second overtime period to give Victor the 10-9 win over Webster Thomas. This is the fifth consecutive win for the Blue Devils. Victor started off the game strong and took an early 5-2 in the second quarter. They continued to put up points and increased their lead to 7-3 with 9:50 remaining in the third quarter. After that Thomas put on the back-burners. They scored four straight goals before Victor added their 8th. The Titans continued to push all the way through the fourth and into the two overtime periods. Both teams had shots at the cage in overtime and it was edge of your seat lacrosse for both periods. |

Although the Red Rams kept the game close in the second half, they never tied the game. Victor scored seven of the first eight goals before JD began their comeback with six of the next seven. Since 2003, Victor and JD have played four times with each team now winning twice. |
# 1285 All Greater Rochester 2017 The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year. |

# 1270 Victor Looks for Third Straight State Title Victor advanced to their third straight State Finals with an 11-5 win over Vestal (Section IV). The Blue Devils are the two-time defending State Champions and are looking for their third straight win. Victor will face Yorktown (Section I). The Huskers defeated Garden City 5-4 in double overtime to advance. Yorktown also returns to the State Finals (they lost 9-6 to JD last season). Victor came out of the gate strong and scored the first five goals to lead 5-0 with 4:50 remaining in the opening quarter. |
# 1268 Looking Ahead: Upstate Championships At this point only the final four are left and in each class there are two teams in the Upstate Tournaments and two are in the Downstate Tournaments. As Wednesday is a school day, the games have been split with the Class A and Class B games being played in Rochester (St. John Fisher College) and the Class C and Class D being played in Syracuse (CNS). Downstate , Class B and Class B will be played at SUNY Albany and the Class C and Class D games will be played at Adelphi University. They continued their scoring into the fourth quarter to lead by two with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter. |
