Gino Prestigiacomo Picks Cortland

Greece Thunder (Athena/Odyssey) senior Gino Prestigiacomo recently announced his decision to continue his lacrosse career at the State University at Cortland next fall. The offensive player who has four year varsity experience, recorded 32g-26a (58 points) last year and has a career record of 82g-63a entering his last year with the Thunder. He has had three years with the Rochester Blaze team during his off-seasons. Full Story

The Greater Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse has announced the Hall of Fame Dinner for the Class of 2011 which will be held on November 4, 2011 at the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford. Full Story

Penfield recently announced the commitments of two seniors who are planning to continue their game next year. Justin Rehm has made his commitment to Siena College after his last year with the Patriots. Siena is a Division 1 (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) team. Full Story

Robert Kitchen Jr, a rising senior offensive player with the Greece Lightning (Arc/Oly), has given his verbal commitment to attend the Virginia Military Institute a year from now. In his three years on the varsity team, Kitchen has scored 99 points (68g-31a). Full Story

Back in February of 2007, Coach Wilson posted a blog story called "Doing The Scholarship Math". The article pointed out the somewhat often misconception that scholarships in lacrosse were easy to find and get. In fact, the story demonstrated that a player would need to be among the top two percent of players to receive, in most cases, a partial scholarship. Full Story

he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2011 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and another seventy-three honorable mentions were led by Pittsford senior midfielder and face off man, James Burke who was named "Player of the Year". 2011 NYS Scholar / Athlete Awards

At the end of each sport season, the NYSPHSAA honors those teams that excel in the classroom. For lacrosse, a team must have at least eleven players who have a 90% average or better during the spring season. Full Story
