Monday: Whitman over Midlakes

At the start of a week that will see games every day, four games were played in the Section today. Honeoye Falls-Lima had a rare shutout in their win over Batavia. Pal-Mac beat Gananda, Marcus Whitman beat Midlakes and Waterloo edged out Mynderse 12-10 in a night game. Full Story

Tuesday: Penfield beats Irondequoit, Brighton in OT

Irondequoit was beaten tonight in a close and exciting game. Mike Larkin scored the game winning goal with 2:25 remaining. Although another large number of games were canceled due to weather/field conditions, seven other games were played. Full Story

Thursday: Thomas, Penn Yan, Livonia and Geneva Win

In an attempt to bring awareness to the fight against cancer, Canandaigua Boy's Lacrosse is designating their game with Victor on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. at CA's Exhibition Field as their first annual "Beat Cancer" game. Full Story

Jeff Milano-Johnson Tournament

Monday: McQuaid takes Timon

McQuaid Jesuit came out strong in the first half and then held on through a second half surge by Timon/St Jude (Section VI) to take a 7-6 win in Buffalo. Rush-Henrietta beat Hilton 13-10 in the opening game for new Head Coach Dave Moore. Other winners were, Canandaigua, Haverling, Livonia and Pal-Mac. Full Story

It was a long awaited match up and at the last moment, moved from Pittsford Mendon to St. John Fisher College, where the stands were nearly full. The Panthers scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter for secure a 9-4 win over Fairport. Full Story

Wednesday: Livonia and Mynderse Win

Livonia was a 12-5 winner over Gananda and Mynderse beat Midlakes 16-3 in evening games tonight. Full Story

With a bit of break in the weather last week there were over fifty games and this week the plan calls for another fifty-two this week. Full Story

Thursday: Mustangs in OT, McQuaid over Haverling

Penn Yan took overtime to win an 8-7 victory at Thomas in an exciting game of runs. McQuaid Jesuit was a 7-5 winner over visiting Haverling. The Thunder beat East Rochester 11-5. Full Story

Friday: Newark over Waterloo, Geneva and Pal-Mac win

There were three afternoon games in the Section on Friday. Geneva beat Mynderse 18-2. Pal-Mac was a 17-6 winner over Marcus Whitman and Newark beat visiting Waterloo 8-4. Full Story

With only one week left in the regular season, there were ten games played today in Section Five. In out of Section contest, Rush-Henrietta beat Lancaster (Section 6), Schroeder lost to Clarence (17-5). Full Story

Tournament Seeding to be Released Next Sunday

As the regular season winds down this last week, prognosticators and amateur math wizards are working hard to figure out who will take the top seeds in each of the three tournaments that begin with the out bracket round on Monday, May 23rd. Full Story

Monday: B-H, BK and Whitman Win

Marcus Whitman was an 18-7 winner over Mynderse, Bishop Kearney took a 12-8 victory from Batavia and Bloomfield-Honeoye won an 8-5 game against visiting Midlakes. Clarence of Section 6 held on to their undefeated season with a 9-5 win over Aquinas. Full Story

Tuesday: Two Overtime Games and One Last Second Win

There were sixteen games played in the Section today and a number of very exciting ones including a 7-6 win for Fairport over Penfield with no time left on the clock. Haverling took Aquinas in double overtime and Marcus Whitman beat Mynderse in the first overtime period. Full Story

Wednesday: Brockport over Lockport

he Blue Devils scored when it counted in the fourth quarter, making up a one goal deficit from the second quarter and beat Lockport 8-7 in the only game in the Section played on Wednesday. Full Story

Thursday: Pittsford remains Undefeated

Pittsford's 10-1 win against Spencerport gave the Panthers an unusual perfect regular season, finishing at 16-0. A number of games were canceled due to thunder storms in the area, but more of the late games were played. Rush-Henrietta had an exciting 4-3 overtime win against Livonia. Schroeder beat HF-L 11-9 and Brighton had an exciting one goal win against Thomas. Full Story

It's hard to imagine in May that the headline would be that we finally had a nice day for lacrosse, but given the rain and stormy days this season, today's warm and generally sunny weather was more than a pleasure. Full Story

The 2011 Section Five Tournaments are now underway with twelve out bracket games played today. There were two upsets in the seeding as, in Class A, #9 Greece Thunder beat #8 Greece Lightning 11-9. In Class C, #9 Mynderse won a 15-13 victory over #8 Marcus Whitman. Full Story

he Head Coaches of Section Five met on Sunday afternoon to listen to the presentations on twenty-four players who had been nominated for All-America Team honors. The awards, sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area of the country. Full Story

The tournament continued today with the quarter final rounds in which two number 5 seeds upset number four seeds. Canandaigua beat McQuaid Jesuit (9-6) and Pal-Mac beat Aquinas (12-8). Full Story

Penn Yan won a 13-7 victory but all five of the other games were close, including the Pittsford overtime victory against Thomas. Irondequoit won by one goal in their semi final game with Canandaigua. Haverling beat Geneva 10-7 and Fairport beat Penfield 13-10. Full Story

All Tournament Teams for 2011 were announced on Championship Tuesday. MVP for A, B and C were Matt Gold (Pittsford), Greg Coholan (Irondequoit) and Dylan Yonts (Penn Yan). Full Story

In the end the top seeded teams in each of the three class won out tonight as Penn Yan, Irondequoit and Pittsford each won. Penn Yan won it's 16th championship with a 12-6 win over Haverling. Full Story
