2012 All Section Awards Announced

For the second time, Section Five Lacrosse has selected first and second team All-Section players. The 2012 first team lists sixteen players and includes the ten All-Americans previously announced.  Full Story

Saturday: Clean Sweep for Section Five

Fairport, Irondequoit and Penn Yan each won their ticket to the final four today as they each won their Far Western New York Championship game at Hamburg. Full Story

For Section V winners, Fairport will play Ithaca in Class A, Irondequoit will play Jamesville-DeWitt in Class B and Penn Yan will take on Homer in Class C. Full Story

Saturday: Two out of Three to go to Finals

Irondequoit and Penn Yan both won their ticket to the New York State Championships on Saturday as the result of their wins today. Pen Yan defeated Homer 10-8 in the first game of the day at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Full Story

New York State Championship Previews

It was a sucessful trip to Syracuse for Section Five as two of the three teams won their UpState Championships and punched their tickets to the NYS Championships in Middletown on Saturday. Full Story

Saturday: The End of the Road for Section Five

Only six teams were left playing lacrosse today at the close of the 2012 season in New York State. Two of them were from Section Five. However, a strong game by Shoreham-Warding River's two-time junior All-American, Tim Rotanz ended the dream for Penn Yan as the Wildcats beat Penn Yan 10-6. Full Story

Sheridan Signs NLI for Limestone

Back in May, McQuaid Jesuit senior goalie Pat Sheridan signed a spring National Letter of Intent to continue his lacrosse career while studying at Limestone College. Sheridan, who played four years for the Knights, finished his career with 2,442 minutes in the cage and recorded 573 saves. In his senior year he had 197 saves (62%). Full Story
