The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2012 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and another seventy-four honorable mentions were led by Fairport senior goalie, Blaze Rioden who was named "Player of the Year".

All three top seeds will wear the home whites on Tuesday when they play for their Section Five titles. Fairport beat Hilton tonight and will play Penfield for beat Pittsford. Irondequoit beat Victor tonight and will play Canandaigua who beat Churchville-Chili and Penn Yan was the winner over HF-L which puts them up against Livonia who defeated Aquinas tonight.

The All Tournament Teams for 2012 were announced on Championship Tuesday. MVP for A, B and C were Pat VanBortle (Fairport), Briele Caples (Irondequoit) and Brandon Maciejewski (Penn Yan).

Thursday: Fairport Remains Undefeated at 16-0
Fairport took a 7-1 lead on their way to a 8-5 win over visiting Irondequoit to preserve their perfect regular season (16-0). Victor defeated Pittsford 13-12, Penfield beat Orchard Park 13-8, Newark beat B-H, Arc/Oly took out Eastridge 9-6 and Aquinas beat Canisius 4-3.

The surprise results of the night was Fairport's dramatic win against Pittsford as the Raiders won 9-1. In other parts of the Section, Pal-Mac's Ben Reeves and Spencerport's Matt Kaser both broke the 100 point mark for the season.

It was a beautiful day for lacrosse and six games were played. Most of the games were overmatches, with the closest game being Marcus Whitman over Wayne 8-4.

In a game that went right to last minute, Irondequoit defeated Pittsford 7-6. Fairport won a 5-2 victory over visiting Penn Yan. Thomas beat Brighton 8-6 and HF-L took at 9-8 win from Webster Schroeder. Penfield won their game with Canandaigua 10-6.

Tuesday: Schroeder gives Penn Yan a Scare
Five games were postponed but ten games were played. Schroeder led for most of the game, but Penn Yan came back for an 8-5 win on the road. Bloomfield-Honeoye scored two goals in the last quarter to beat Wayne Central 5-3. Midlakes defeated Batavia 11-10.

There were 16 games in the Section today. Several were close and a number were not. Pittsford beat a determined McQuaid Jesuit 7-6. Waterloo beat Wayne 3-1.

Saturday: Fairport over JD in last Seconds
In one of the six intersectional games today, Fairport scored the winning goal in the last few seconds of the game to defeat Jamesville-DeWitt 11-10 at Hobart College. Pittsford hosted Section VI powerhouse, Orchard Park and came away with a 15-6.

Wayne Central won their first varsity game today when they beat Midlakes 7-6. Canandaigua won in overtime against Victor. It was Eastridge over Greece Lightning 11-8, Geneva over Waterloo 6-2, Mynderse over Newark 10-7 and Gananda over the Pride 8-7.

On a very rainy day there were fourteen games played. Ithaca (Section IV) broke three tied quarters to beat visiting Irondequoit 11-8. With 1:24 remaining in the first overtime period, Aaron Buck scored during a double man-up opportunity to secure a 13-12 win for the Churchville-Chili over Spencerport.

March, 2012 - Monroe County Division 1 appears competitive again this season. Although Class B Champion Irondequoit has left to join MC-D2, there are still plenty of top tier teams playing
against each other. The top teams in the league appear to be Penfield, Fairport and Pittsford.

In the end the top seeded teams in each of the three class won out tonight as Penn Yan, Irondequoit and Pittsford each won. Penn Yan won it's 16th championship with a 12-6 win over Haverling.

Penn Yan won a 13-7 victory but all five of the other games were close, including the Pittsford overtime victory against Thomas. Irondequoit won by one goal in their semi final game with Canandaigua. Haverling beat Geneva 10-7 and Fairport beat Penfield 13-10.

The tournament continued today with the quarter final rounds in which two number 5 seeds upset number four seeds. Canandaigua beat McQuaid Jesuit (9-6) and Pal-Mac beat Aquinas (12-8).

In the last day of the regular season, Irondequoit traveled to Fairport for a 10-7 win. Other make-up game winners included Hilton over Brockport, Brighton over HFL, Geneva over B-H and Penn Yan over Livonia.

Pittsford's 10-1 win against Spencerport gave the Panthers an unusual perfect regular season, finishing at 16-0. A number of games were canceled due to thunder storms in the area, but more of the late games were played. Rush-Henrietta had an exciting 4-3 overtime win against Livonia. Schroeder beat HF-L 11-9 and Brighton had an exciting one goal win against Thomas.

Irondequoit was beaten tonight in a close and exciting game. Mike Larkin scored the game winning goal with 2:25 remaining. Although another large number of games were canceled due to weather/field conditions, seven other games were played.

There were a number of exciting games played on the second Saturday of the season. Rush-Henrietta defeated Canandaigua 9-6, Irondequoit beat Ithaca 13-10, Penn Yan just made it by Pal-Mac 10-9 and the Lightning won their game against ER in overtime.
