Saturday: Fairport over C-C, Thomas takes Webster Win
It was a beautiful day for lacrosse and six games were played. Most of the games were overmatches, with the closest game being Marcus Whitman over Wayne 8-4. The other winners were Livonia, Fairport, Irondequoit, Waterloo, Pal-Mac, Geneva, Spencerport, Pittsford, HF-L, Haverling, Aquinas, B-H, Canandaigua, Brighton and Thomas.

-- Fairport scored ten of the first eleven goals on their way to an 11-6 win over Churchville-Chili. The Saints finished with five of the last six goals in the fourth quarter against the second string from Fairport. Fairport's starting goalie Blaze Riorden finished with five saves and only one goal allowed in the first three quarters. The only goal that Riorden allowed was scored during a man-up attempt by Churchville-Chili. Nick Gray scored with an assist from Trevor Hodgins.
Fairport had seven different players score. Leading the charge was Pat VanBortle with 3g. Kyle Sterzin (2g-1a), Brian Martin (1g-2a) and Derek DeJoe (2g-1a) also contributed to the scoring for the Red Raiders. Shane Stickle and Kevin Vaughn both finished at 67% at the face off draw for Fairport. Stickle finished 12/18 and Vaughn finished 2/3. Stickle also led in ground balls with seven. Midfielder Jack Sanna finished with four ground balls for Fairport. In the cage, Pete Gropp played the final quarter and recorded two saves.
For Churchville-Chili, Hodgins finished with 2g-1a. Senior goalie Jack Corcoran finished with eight saves in three quarters for the Saints. Sophomore goalie Mike Yehl finished with two saves in the final quarter.

-- Livonia defeated Bishop Kearney 22-2 this morning. The Bulldogs scored the first 14 goals before Bishop Kearney scored with 0:49 remaining in the second quarter when Kyle Kuebler assisted Dylan Miller.
Livonia was led in scoring by Wyatt Struble with 4g-5a. Alex Chiara (4g-2a) and Derek Bishopp (3g-2a) also added points for the Bulldogs. Bishopp finished 20/21 (95%) at the face off draw. He also finished with 14 ground balls. Defenseman Sean Kidder finished with 11 ground balls for Livonia. In the cage, Ethan Jamison played 34 minutes and recorded four saves. Troy Lischer finished out the game and recorded two saves.
In the cage for Bishop Kearney, Andrew Barreca finished with 13 saves.

-- Although the game was close in the opening quarter, Irondequoit scored seven unanswered goals in the second quarter on their way to a 15-5 win over Hilton. The Eagles led 12-3 going into the final quarter. The attack led a scoring charge for Irondequoit. Attackmen Connor Enright (3g-2a), Nick Doktor (3g-2a), Jake Schmidt (3g-1a) and Danny Pignato (1g) combined for 67% of scoring.
Midfielder Ben Brooks finished 57% at the face off draw (12/21). He also led his team with four ground balls. In the cage, Eric Fischer finished with two saves in three quarters. Alex Shoemaker finished out the game and recorded a single save. For Hilton, Harald Juergens finished with a team leading seven saves. In the cage, freshman Jarod Kimble finished with eight recorded saves.

-- Waterloo scored five unanswered goals in the late second and early third quarter to break open the scoring against Newark. The Reds had brought the game within a single goal (5-4) with 1:45 remaining in the second quarter. The Indians scored two more goals before the end of the half and three goals at the start of the third quarter.
Waterloo was led in scoring by sophomore Mike Wright with 6g. Seniors Zarrien Sloan (3g-2a), Elliott Messmer (2g-1a) and Tim Wright (2g-1a) also added scoring for the Indians. In the cage, senior Josh Bailey finished with eight saves. For Newark, senior attackman John Denniston led in scoring with 3g-2a. In the cage, junior Cody Cornelius finished with 12 saves for the Reds.

-- Spencerport scored the first five goals of the contest and never trailed in their 14-5 win over Gates Chili. The Rangers led 13-2 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans outscored the Rangers 3-1. Offensive scoring for the Rangers was led by attackman Matt Kaser (3g-4a) and midfielder Jeff Nitti (4g-2a). Spencerport looked strong at the face off draw. Midfielder Seth Miller finished 12/17 (71%). He also led his team in ground balls with 14. Midfielder Levi Basynnski finished with five for the Rangers. In the cage, Drew Preston finished with nine saves (64%).
For Gates Chili, midfielder Ralph Taliento was a part of every goal. He finished with a team leading 2g-3a. Midfielder Joe Corona finished with a team leading nine shots, only two of which were on cage. Taliento finished with eight shots, three on cage. Defenseman Steve Hilsdorf finished with a team leading five ground balls. In the cage for the Spartans, senior Tyler Jacobson played three quarters and recorded 14 saves. Junior Dylan Dix finished out the game and recorded four saves.

-- Pal-Mac scored eight goals in the first half on their way to a 13-3 win over Mynderse. Both coaches reported the stand out play of Mynderse goalie Tim Trickler. The junior goaltender finished with 28 saves for the Blue Devils. The Red Raiders were led in scoring by senior attackman Kyle Ludwig (4g-2a). The senior class stepped up for today's game and finished with ten of thirteen goals. Sophomore attackman Ben Reeves (1g-4a) and Jarett Duchesneau (2g-1a) finished out the scoring for the Red Raiders. In the cage for Pal-Mac, Cody Rogers finished with 10 saves.

-- Geneva scored 11 goals in the opening half and held Gananda scoreless before continuing on to a 16-3 win over the Blue Panthers. Geneva was led in scoring by junior Sean Cunningham and sophomore Fran Shaw who both finished with 3g-2a. All of Geneva's goals were scored by juniors or sophomores except for a single goal by senior midfielder Steve Fabrizio. In the cage, Geneva split time between Derek Grillone and Jake Sahrle. Grillone finished with three saves and Sahrle finished with one save. For Gananda, Kyler Friesner finished with 1g-1a to lead his team. In the cage, senior Steven Fisher finished with 12 saves.

-- Marcus Whitman used a strong fourth quarter to cement their 8-4 win over Wayne Central. The Wildcats played a strong game and were led in scoring by junior attackman Connor Kelly with 3g. Senior midfielder Matt Hey and junior midfielder Lukas Brassi added two goals and two assists respectively. In the cage for the Wildcats, Merritt Bailey finished with seven saves.
Wayne's strength was in their defense. Both coaches noted that the outstanding play by sophomore goalie Justin Townsend kept the game close. Townsend finished with 20 saves for the Eagles. Coach Jeff Ugine writes of his team, "Our defense is keeping us in a lot of games, but the offense is still a bit inexperienced." Two sophomores led the scoring for Wayne. Both Andrew Jenkins and Trent Wyland finished with 1g-1a.

-- R-H kept the game close in the first half before Pittsford scored six unanswered goals in the second quarter to take the lead. Pittsford won 13-8. The Royal Comets scored four of the last five goals to make the score closer in the end. Pittsford was led in scoring by midfielder Corey Parke with 5g. The DiPasquale brothers each finished with three points. Albie DiPasquale finished with three goals and Nino DiPasquale finished with three assists for the Panthers.
Nino finished at 75% for the face off draw, going 9/12. Matt Barbaccia finished 7/12 for the Panthers. Midfielder Tyler Aycock finished with nine ground balls for the Panthers. Pittsford played three different players between the pipes. Kyle Lake played the first three quarters and Luke Loveys and Cahal Moulton split the fourth quarter. Lake finished with five saves, Loveys finished with two saves and Moulton finished with three saves.
R-H finished with nine different players making their offensive scorebook. Leading the charge was midfielder Nick Binnert with 2g-1a. Attackman Brandon Smith finished with two goals for the Royal Comets. Binnert and midfielder Sean Tomkinson finished with five ground balls each to lead R-H. In the cage, McKenzie Spooner played the first three quarters and recorded twelve saves. Jeff Delany finished the game with one save.

Sophomore Ryan Kelly finished with 1g-4a for HFL. Jake Boice finished 9/15 (60%) at the face off. Defenseman Keanan O'Brien led HF-L in ground balls with nine. Boike, Cassidy Kuhn and Ian Holtby added five ground balls each. In the cage, Nick Beniamino finished with a single save. Anthony Arner played the final four minutes of the game but did not face a shot on cage. Brockport goalie Hunter DeLany finished with nine saves.

Defenseman Trevor Lang finished with a team leading 15 ground balls. Kyle Clark (6), Gavette (5) and Chapman (5) also added to the ground ball count. Between the pipes, Andrew Clark finished with eight saves.
East Rochester was led in scoring by Raymond Shalvoy with 2g. In the cage, Liridon Dervisholli played the majority of the game and recorded seven saves. Jonathan Caton played the final four minutes, when Dervisholli was out during a penalty, but failed to record a save.

BH was led in scoring by an impressive performance from senior Jerrett Hertzel. He finished with a hand in 80% of the scoring, 8g-4a. Senior attackman Jason Jones finished with 2g-4a for the Pride. In the cage, Evan Multala played three quarters and recorded ten saves. Aaron Steven played one quarter and recorded three saves.
For the Screaming Eagles, Chris Landschoot led in scoring with 3g-2a. In the cage, Matt Brennessel finished with 13 saves.

Canandaigua had 13 players make their offensive scorebook. Leading the charge was senior Matt Scharr (1g-5a). Underclassman made a big impact with freshman Connor Hulme finishing with 1g-3a and eighth grader Mitchell Schaefer finishing with 2g-1a. In the cage for the Braves, Anthony Laudisi finished with six saves.
Greece was led in scoring by junior Anthony Merola. He was a part of five of the six Thunder goals and finished with 3g-2a. In the cage, senior Ken Mohrman finished with eight saves for Greece.

-- In the battle of the Webster schools, Webster Schroeder scored the first goal before Webster Thomas scored eight unanswered, seven in the first quarter. The Warriors fought back to 10-7 at the end of the third quarter before Thomas added the final three goals to win 13-7.
Thomas had ten players make their offensive scorebook. Leading the charge was midfielder Troy Crevier. He finished with 1g-6a for the Titans. Attackman John Hill finished with 3g-1a. Joe Stacey and Justin Bird combined for 68% at the face off draw. Stacey finished 11/16 and Bird finished 4/6. Stacy also led the Titans in ground balls with seven. Hill finished with four ground balls. In the cage, John Bezek finished with 12 saves. Alex Gulisano played four minutes between the pipes and did not record a save.
For Schroeder, midfielder Brandon Harris finished with 2g-1a and attackman Nick Powell finished with 3g. Defenseman Brett Zilliox finished with a team leading five ground balls. Midfielders Keenan Denis and Harris finished with four ground balls each. Between the pipes, Willie Klan finished with eight saves for the Warriors.

He also led his team with seven ground balls. Defenseman Marc Pettrone finished with five ground balls. In the cage, Erich Wischmeyer finished with 14 saves. All four goals for the Knights were unassisted goals. Duncan Ayer finished with three goals and Alex Paroda finished with one goal. In the cage for the Knights, Pat Sheridan finished with eight saves.
