# 3602  Players of the Week - Group 1

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Canandaigua National Bank are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

In our first group we have a freshman and two seniors who have had noteworthy performances in the last week.

Offensive Players of the Week

Jace SmithJase Smith - Gananda Attackman

Jase Smith The four-year Varsity senior started off his final year with a big opening season game as Gates Chili came to Gananda. The Blue Panthers won 20-11 and Jace figured in on sixteen of them, turning in eleven goals and five assists. The Alfred commit has a career record current sits at 47g-23a.

Head Coach Dan Riordan says "Jase played a tremendous game last Friday which is a testament to his hard work this off season which started last summer. He works hard every practice and even stays late. As a senior, he was appointed one of our Captains and he continues to lead by example. His five assists stands out more to me than his eleven goals because his looks to feed show his unselfish play."

Sean OlvanyBlake Jipson - Thomas Attackman

Blake Jipson Many first year Varsity players expect to quietly ride the bench and check out the world of the more competitive Varsity program. Few of them are freshman starters and even fewer start their first Varsity game with a seven goal day.

Head Coach Rob Ruller says, "Blake plays the game with a little flair and a lot of enjoyment. He played well in his first varsity game for sure scoring seven goals. He can play a lot of spots for us on offense and he handles the pressure well. He has really stepped up and handled the move up from JV last year. We look forward to seeing what he can do over these next four years."

Defensive Player of the Week

Jack RawleighJack Rawleigh - McQuaid Jesuit Goalie

Jack Rawleigh The Knights travelled to Corning last week for their first game of the 2025 campaign, still relishing their impressive New York State Championship last spring. Jack Rawleigh returns for his third and final season before moving on to play at Utica next year. In a very close game with Corning, which the Knights won (8-7) by a single goal, Jack recorded fourteen saves (67%).

Head Coach Alex Gray says, “Jack is a great player and an even better person. He is an extremely hard worker and is always looking for ways to improve. He is definitely a leader in our program and has had an awesome start to the season.”
