The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year. |
# 1275 Class A State Title - Ward Melville over Pittsford After trailing by five with 4:26 remaining, Ward Melville scored the final six goals of the game to win the Class A State Championship 10-9 in the first overtime period. Tournament MVP Eddie Munoz scored three of the five goals to force overtime and was a key offensive player for the Patriots. Defensive MVP Michael Giaquinto was also demonstrative in the win. He finished 19/22 (86%) at the face off and gave Ward Melville multiple extra attempts at the ball. His pick-ups allowed four goals in the final 1:01. Matthew Grillo finished with 3g-1a including the game tying and game winning goals. Later in the day, the Pittsford girls also played in the State Finals. # 1269 Pittsford Makes State Finals for First Time Pittsford dominated the second half and defeated Baldwinsville (Section III) 11-8 to advance to the Class A State Finals. The Panthers will face Ward Melville on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. John Fisher. The Patriots defeated Lakeland-Panas 9-6 to advance to the Finals. Colby Barker led in scoring with 5g-1a for the Panthers and was a force on the field. For the Bees, Matthew Dickman and Peter Fiorini each finished with 2g. |

The Cadets scored the final goal of the game, but Pittsford scored eight unanswered goals, spanning the second through fourth quarters.
