Face off midfielder Mitchell Culver had an impressive game, finishing 11/14 (78%) with a team leading 9 ground balls (all coming off the face-off). LSM Graham Gooch also finished strong with 3 ground balls and 2 takes for the Eagles. Full Story

Victor scored seven unanswered goals in the second and third quarters to take the game to 9-3 early in the third quarter. Penfield played hard in the second half but couldn't come back from a six goal deficit. Full Story

Thomas 15 - Brighton 9

In a game that was closer than the score shows, Webster Thomas defeated Brighton 15-9. The Titans scored five of the last six goals spanning the last quarter and a half. The Barons were only down by two goals (10-8) when Thomas started a five goal streak. Three goals came in the last three minutes of the third quarter and two more to start the fourth quarter. Fairport Gets Shutout Over Ithaca

Fairport won for the first time since 2012 in their 13-0 win over Ithaca. The Red Raiders had 31 players with at least 1 statistic and 12 players make their offensive scorebook. Justin Kesselring led Fairport with 3g-2a. Joey Scalise, Tyler Wetzel and Matt Hawk all spent time in the cage to secure the shutout.  Full Story

There were some interesting scores today. The three highest scoring games were played today, as Medina beat Batavia 23-11 (34 pts), Victor beat Corning 16-15 (31 pts) and Spencerport beat Williamsville North 16-14 (30 pts). Full Story

Big Celebration of 50 Years of Lacrosse in Webster

There will be a full day of lacrosse in Webster on Saturday, May 10th as the community celebrates their fiftieth anniversary of lacrosse in the town. Of course there will be games played at all levels, starting with K-2, 3-4 and 5-6 youth games for both boys and girls starting at 9:00 am.  Full Story

Wayne scored five of the first six goals and held off a late push by Geneva to defeat the Panthers 9-8. The Panthers scored the first goal with Kyle Cosentino scoring unassisted. Webster Thomas scored seven unanswered goals spanning the first three quarters. They held the Royal Comets scoreless for 28 minutes. Defenseman Ryan Nugent led in ground balls with seven for the Titans. Cam Isaac added another five with Christian Nairy and Teddy McCabe adding four each. Full Story

Spencerport 16 - Williamsville North 14

Williamsville North (Section 6) started off strong with the first three goals, but Spencerport fought back with a four goal run followed by a five goal run in their 16-14 win over the Spartans. Victor 16 - Corning 15

The 9-4 Corning Hawks (Section IV) traveled to Victor for their third contest of the season against Section Five teams. In all three cases, the Hawks played a one goal game against the local boys. Victor came out on top today, winning 16-15. Corning had previously defeated Churchville-Chili (10-9) and lost to Pittsford (11-10). Full Story

Eastridge Surge Produces Win

Eastridge scored the last two goals of the contest to secure an 8-7 win over Greece Arcadia/Olympia. Overall the contest was an even match with both teams having opportunities to secure the victory. Freshman attackman Donovan Fagan assisted Andrew Doktor for the final goal of the contest for the Lancer win. Fagan finished with 1g-2a in only his second game on Varsity. Full Story

Big Save by Kelly Gives Win to HF-L

NOTES: Bryce Kelly made his 100th save of the season with seconds left on the clock to secure the 9-8 win for HF-L over Brighton. The Cougar scored the last four goals of the contest and held Brighton scoreless for the final 16:48 in their win. Kelly had an impressive game between the pipes with twelve saves and finished at 60%. Offensively, the Cougars looked to midfielder Alex Mapstone (4g-2a), attackmen Ryan Kelly (2g-2a) and Tim Breau (2g-2a). All nine of the goals by the Cougars were assisted goals. Full Story

In the only game in the Section today, Avon took a 5-3 halftime to a 14-5 win over first year program Watkins Glen (Section 4). Mitchell Wolfanger led the offensive effort for the Braves. Full Story

Pittsford Over Victor in OT

Pittsford sophomore Jonathan Perotto scored from a feed by Stephen Quinzi with 2:14 remaining in the first overtime period to defeat Victor 12-11. Perotto finished with 3g-1a and Quinzi finished with 4g-1a for the Panthers. Full Story

Wayne scored the first four goals of the contest and never trailed in their 11-8 win over Waterloo. The Screaming Eagles led by as much as seven (10-3) before Waterloo scored five of the last six goals.  Full Story

Aquinas and HF-L were neck and neck for three quarters before the Little Irish scored the final five goals to defeat the Cougars 13-8. The contest was tied 2-2, 4-4 and 8-8 before Aquinas scored five unanswered goals spanning the final 10:24 of the contest. Full Story

Marcus Whitman scored the first two goals in their 6-5 win over Mynderse. The Blue Devils tied the game at 3-3 in the third quarter but never led. Whitman's first two goals were both unassisted with Tyler Wolfe and Lane Brown scoring. Full Story

Penfield scored the opening goal and never trailed in their 15-4 win over Brighton. Jake Sproule scored the open goal less than one minute into play with an assist from Mitch Standera. A donation will be accepted at the Pittsford-Penfield game this afternoon to benefit the Jeff Milano-Johnson fund. The game will be held at 5:00 at the Nazareth College. "ticket takers" will be asking for two dollars to benefit the fund named for a former Pittsford Player. Full Story

Spencerport never trailed in their 11-8 win over Wayne. The Rangers were only the second lower seed of the tournament to defeat a higher seed. Canandaigua Moves Past Saints

Canandaigua has reached the Sectional Championship game 13 times and Churchville-Chili has only reached it once and the Braves demonstrated tonight that they know how to win in Sectionals. The Braves defeated the Saints 14-12 after trailing 0-4 in the first quarter. Full Story

The top seeded teams will play tomorrow and it looks like anyone can win in each of the Classes. The Day of Champions, sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Trust, will be held at Webster Schroeder High School. This year, the Class B game will be held first, starting at 3:45. Full Story

The three top seeds won their trips to Buffalo today as Fairport scored four goals in the last five minutes of the game to defeat Pittsford 7-6. Penn Yan was a 17-5 winner over Pal-Mac and Victor played a close game with Canandaigua, eventually winning 12-8.  Full Story

Victor Wins Championship

After last year`s heart felt triple overtime loss to the Braves, Victor came to play and defeated Canandaigua 12-8. The Braves led for most of the first quarter. The Blue Devils scored the opening goal of the second quarter to take their first lead of the game and never looked back. Full Story

Penn Yan Wins Championship

Penn Yan scored four goals in the first three quarters and five in the final quarter in their 17-5 win over Pal-Mac. The Red Raiders added one goals in the first and two in the second and third quarters. Full Story

Pittsford`s starting defense played three excellent quarters and one mediocre quarter, but that last quarter was enough for Fairport to come up with a win with 0:16 left in regulation. For the fourth time, Section Five selected first and second team All-Section players. The 2014 first team lists sixteen players and includes the ten All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon. May 30, 2014 - After two out bracket games that did not involve Section Five, the 2014 NYS tournament will be fully underway on Saturday, May 31st.
