# 3052  Newark Excited to Get Back to Playing

Newark has a mixture of returning and new players on the varsity this year. Brandon McNeil had 9g-3a as a sophomore midfielder and plans to play at D`youville next year. His classmate, Jayden Shepherd had 9g-6a and is a three-sport athlete. The goalie spot this year looks like it will be filled by Caleb George Cody who had very limited time in 2019, but learned a great deal from Talyn Pierce who was the Goalie of the Year in the Finger Lakes. Coach Groot says, "Caleb will be the quarterback of the defense and has put in a lot of work into it!". Helping him will be Aaron Rodney-Spencer, a senior defenseman who the Reds will look to handle top opponent attackmen.

# 2960  2019 Season Wrap Up

Batavia joined with both Attica and Notre Dame (to form what we canlled BAND) and otherwise the teams remained the same with thirty-five playing in Section Five this year. There were 1,129 players on the rosters at the during of the season and 914 on the final rosters. Fairport carried the largest roster with forty-one players and Spencerport had the smallest with sixteen.

# 2889  Whitman, Hilton and East United Win

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Only the Hilton vs Williamsville East game was originally scheduled for Friday, but there were two additions today. Hilton was a 13-3 winner over Williamsville East with ten players making the offensive book, led by Zach Boyatizies, Michael Galante, Tyler Hacker and Ben Mitrano who each scored three points. Jacob Keley made 7s (70%) for Hilton (11-4_ who will finish their regular season with Irondequoit on Tuesday.

There were fifty games played last week and lots of of exciting ones. At the moment there are seventy-two out of section games scheduled and fifty-eight have been played. Section Five has won thirty-one and the out of section teams have won twenty-seven.

# 2876  Many Mismatches Today, and Hilton Takes Out Fairport

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were fourteen games played today and most were mismatches. Of the rest, Hilton, for the first time in program history, beat Fairport 9-8, despite a last quarter surge by the Red Raiders. The Cadets led 4-3 at the half and then scored five goals in the third to end the quarter up 9-4. The offense of Hilton was spread between eight players with Matthews Mojsej leading with 1g-2a. Ben Metrano, Brenden Howell and Michael Galante each added two goals while Clayton Duford recorded 9s (53%) for Hilton (8-3). Klay Stuvert and Colin Peers each had 3g-2 for Faiport (8-2)

# 2869  Gananda Takes First Lead in Final 3 Minutes

Gananda trailed for nearly the entire contest before scoring the final goal of the game to defeat Newark 6-5.  The Blue Panthers scored tied the game for the fourth time with 4:13 left on the clock with Logan Chasey assisting AJ Golden.  Two minutes later with 2:30 remaining, Joel Bean scored off a feed from Golden to give Gananda their first lead.  They were able to hold off the Reds offense for the final two minutes to secure the victory.

Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were four games played today and most were mismatches. Newark held BAND scorerless for three quarters as seven players made the offensive book which was led by Jayden Shepherd with 3g-2a and Matt Card (4g). Talyn Pierce had 13s for the Reds. McQuaid Jesuit scored seven unanswered goals in the seconds quarer on their way to a 16-3 win at Catherdral Prep. Nine players made the book led by Ryan McEvily with (4g). The Knights (6-2) will play Livonia-Avon on Thursday. Churchville-Chili were led by Pat Mitchell (6g-3a) and Eli Chalmers (5g-4a) in their win over Gates Chili. Aquinas and Nichols played a close game right down to the end, but came up short in the 6-8 loss when the Vikings scored scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter.

There were sixteen games played today as the regular season is starting to wind down. Pittsford came from behind to beat host Corning 8-7 in the closest game of the day. Thomas took Irondequoit by two (12-10) and Gananda beat Mynderse 11-8.

The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

Senior midfielder Parker Casselman led the offense with 4g-1a while senior attackman Ryan Farley added 3g. Junior goalie Talyn Pierce recorded eight saves (62%).

A five goal run in the fourth quarter gave Hilton (5-9) a win against host Brighton (6-7) tonight on Senior Night. Hilton took their first lead of the game with 6:12 remaining in the fourth quarter and held off Brighton’s attempt at a comeback to defeat the Barons 13-11. Brighton played three strong quarters before Hilton took over in the fourth. The Cadets scored five unanswered goals spanning just over 4 minutes in the final quarter to secure the win.

Of the dozen games played today, three teams held on to their undefeated season with wins today. Spencerport took their record to 5-0 with their win over Eastridge who played a close half (8-6). Jonathan Agness led the Rangers with 3g-6a. Andrew Doktor recorded 4g for the Lancers. Note: Victor (4-0) is also undefeated.
