# 3990 2025 All-Section Five List Released The Section V Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. The 2025 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced. "The first six athletes on the first team are easy" said Section Five Assistant Coordinator, Paul Wilson. "after that, it becomes more difficult as we have so many excellent players. With the six first spots taken, there are only nine more places on the first team."
To be nominated each player was required to be selected to their first team all-league team (except Independent teams). The lists were selected from a pool of ninety-two players. The selections were reviewed by Chairmen of each of the two leagues, three at-large coaches, the Lacrosse Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. "It is a difficult task", Wilson continued. "There are so many talented players, so many different opinions, and so many elements to consider." Players are reviewed for their performances, the strength of their opponents and how their stats relate to the quality of their opponents. "Certainly, the strength of a team's schedule is a factor when reviewing a player" said Section V Coordinator Mike Simon. Although grade and league were not major factors in selection, the list shows the skills that are found throughout the section. Ten Monroe County teams were represented on the lists, with the rest representing Finger Lakes (6), and Independents (3). Showing that the "Best of the Best" can come from any age group, there were 26 seniors, 11 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 2 freshmen listed. Distribution among the positions shows 13 midfielders, 12 attackmen, 7 defensemen, 5 FO specialists, 2 LSM, 1 ssdm, and 5 goalies. First Team

# 3962 Championship Monday: Class C and D DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - Two sectional championships were decided in commanding fashion, as Honeoye Falls-Lima (HFL) and Penn Yan stamped their authority on the field. HFL cruised to a 19-7 victory over previously unbeaten Pal-Mac, capturing their third straight Sectional title with an explosive offense led by MVP Grady Goodberlet (6g-2a). Meanwhile, Penn Yan overwhelmed Bloomfield Honeoye 19-6, claiming their 26th Sectional crown behind Teagan Fingar’s stellar 5-goal, 5-assist performance. |
# 3960 HFL Wins in Class C In a dominant performance, HFL secured their third consecutive Sectional Championship with a commanding 19-7 victory over the previously undefeated Pal-Mac Red Raiders, marking their fourth title in program history. The Cougars set the tone early, jumping to a 5-0 lead and maintaining control throughout, led by standout sophomore Grady Goodberlet (6g-2a), who was named Class C All Tournament MVP. Teammates Marco Vangoechea (6g-1a) and Quinn Kailbourne (2g-4a) also played pivotal roles, while Jackson Dennie (3g) and Reid Diehl (1g-2a) led the Red Raiders' efforts. # 3951 Pal-Mac Defeats Wayne to Reach Class C Finals Top seeded Pal-Mac used multiple long runs of scoring to defeat fourth seeded Wayne 21-10 in the first of tonight’s two Class C Semi-Final games. The Red Raiders were led in scoring by Jackson Dennie (6g-4a). Reid Diehl (4g), Brandon Dennie (3g-1a), Luke VanGorden (3g-1a) also added multiple goals for Pal-Mac. For Wayne, Shane Coleman (3g-1a) and Tucker Eaton (4g) led in scoring. The Eagles’ goalie, Gavin Hamel, had an outstanding first quarter with 9 saves; he finished the game with 16 total saves. |

In a game that was plagued with penalties, the teams both had multiple attempts at extra-man offense. The Red Raiders converted on two of their attempts while the Lakers could not convert on any of their attempts. The man-down defense for Pal-Mac was a key factor of their win. |
