Championship Monday: Class C and D

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - Two sectional championships were decided in commanding fashion, as Honeoye Falls-Lima (HFL) and Penn Yan stamped their authority on the field. HFL cruised to a 19-7 victory over previously unbeaten Pal-Mac, capturing their third straight Sectional title with an explosive offense led by MVP Grady Goodberlet (6g-2a). Meanwhile, Penn Yan overwhelmed Bloomfield Honeoye 19-6, claiming their 26th Sectional crown behind Teagan Fingar’s stellar 5-goal, 5-assist performance. 

HFL vs Pal-Mac

HFL-19 at PAL-MAC-7 - In a dominant performance, HFL secured their third consecutive Sectional Championship with a commanding 19-7 victory over the previously undefeated Pal-Mac Red Raiders, marking their fourth title in program history. The Cougars set the tone early, jumping to a 5-0 lead and maintaining control throughout, led by standout sophomore Grady Goodberlet (6g-2a), who was named Class C All Tournament MVP. Teammates Marco Vangoechea (6g-1a) and Quinn Kailbourne (2g-4a) also played pivotal roles, while Jackson Dennie (3g) and Reid Diehl (1g-2a) led the Red Raiders' efforts. HFL’s strong defensive showing, highlighted by face-off battles and eight saves from goalie Jason Bennett, sealed the victory. The Cougars now advance to the Sub-regional round against Section VI Champion Hamburg on Wednesday at Canandaigua Academy.    [ Story and BOX SCORE

HFL vs Pal-Mac

BLOOMFIELD-HONEOYE-6 at PENN YAN-19 - Penn Yan dominated the Class D Finals, securing their 26th Sectional Title with a commanding 19-6 victory over Bloomfield Honeoye. Teagan Fingar led the charge with 5 goals and 5 assists, earning the Class D All-Tournament MVP. The Pride fought hard early, with Tyler Bruder (3g-1a) and eighth-grader Brennan Thomas (2g) making key contributions, but Penn Yan’s relentless offensive pressure proved too much. Mike Gigliotti hit his 50th goal of the season, while goalie Will Thompson recorded 10 saves. Bloomfield Honeoye had their bright moments, particularly in the first quarter, but Penn Yan pulled away decisively. With this win, the Mustangs advance to the Sub-regional match-up against Section VI Champion Akron.    [ Story and BOX SCORE
