# 3515 Clean Sweep for Section V DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - There were quarterfinal games played today in the NYSPHSAA Lacrosse Tournaments and Section V teams won each game.

The quarter saw Victor up 4-2 and then scored thirteen unanswered goals spanning the into the fourth quarter when they began running time. Victor will play Vestal (Section IV) at 5:30 on Wednesday. Senior midfielder Aiden Clinkscales (2g-2a) reached his 50th career goal and junior midfielder Mason Debottis (1g) scored his first Varsity goal in the game. Others scoring for Victor (17-3) were Jack Herendeen (4a), Christian Besaw (4g), Jackson Mead (4g), Brody Secker (3g-1a), Tanner Radogna (1g-1a), and Dante Pezzimenti (1a). Facing off for Victor was junior JT Ricci with 10+/2- = 83%, and 8th grade Eli Ricci with 8+/0- = 100%. In the goal for Victor was senior Parker Erwin with 3s/2ga = 60% (36 mins), and junior Landon Tantillo with 4s/0ga = 100% (7 mins). Scoring one goal each for Niagara-Wheatfield were senior attackmen Matthew Siejka and Dakota Ferguson, junior midfielder Savino Geracci and Freshman Rahihtehawihs Printup. # 3507 HFL Wins Section V Class C Championship *+DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Both the Class C and D Championships were planned for Finger Lakes Community College today, but thunder and lightning storms caused great delays and in the in although the Class C game was won by Honeoye Falls-Lima, the Class D championship was moved to Sunday at 10:30 AM at FLCC.
In the second quarter, Pal-Mac scored the first goal to take their only lead of the game. Hoesterey scored with a strong independent effort to the goal. The Red Raiders led for 20 seconds before HFL scored again to tie the game for the fourth time. HFL then went on a run of five goals and took over the pace of the game. The first two were unassisted goals from Patrick Donahoe and Angelo. The second two were both assisted by Perryman with goals to Kailbourne and Vengoechea. Both teams added one more goal with Pal-Mac seeing scoring from Hill and HFL`s Goodberlet scoring for the Cougars. HFL led 10-6 going into halftime.
The beginning of the fourth continued the Red Raider run with another four goals by Pal-Mac. Scoring came from Branden Thomas and three goals from Dennie. The Red Raiders had pulled the score to 15-11 before the second weather break came. The second came with just over 7 minutes left on the clock. Rounding out the All-Tournament picks in Class C were Pal-Mac defenseman Carson Lich, HFL defenseman Grant Peinkofer, HFL LSM Owen Smith, Geneva midfielder Jeremy Askin and Livonia-Avon goalie Colton Rose. The Cougars move on to the NYS State Out Bracket game on Wednesday at Williamsville East. |

# 3412 HFL Wins in Double Overtime for Second Championship in 3 Years After finishing as the runner-up last season, HFL came back to win their second Section Five Title in 3 years with a double overtime 9-8 win over Wayne. This was the first double overtime Finals matchup since Victor over Thomas in 2018. The Cougars’ Chase Perryman scored the game winner with 2:59 left in the second overtime period. Perryman was named the Class B Tournament MVP and finished the game with 4g-2a. |

Penfield beat Hilton and Canandaigua, in yet another low scoring game was the 3-2 winner at Thomas. The Saints had and exciting 9-8 win at Greece and Gananda won a 15-13 game against Kearney. |

# 3379 A Full Day of Lacrosse at HFL Tonight’s 12-5 win for HFL over Livonia-Avon capped a long day of Lacrosse at HFL High School Field. There were multiple contests across all levels of boy’s and girl’s lacrosse raising awareness and donations for “Cancer Day”. In addition to today’s boy’s game, the girls defeated Horseheads 16-6 (HERE). Today’s contest was a vastly different game from the contest just last week between the same two teams. After a back-and-forth contest last Saturday, today’s match was much more one-sided. The Cougars took long stretches of possession and gave the Lakers very little time on offense. The Lakers attempted to use what opportunities they could get; however, it was not enough. There were standout performances from Livonia goalie Matt Beachel with 7 saves in the first quarter (10 total for the game), HFL attackman Chase Perryman with 4g-2a, and HFL face-off midfielder Drew Angelo. |

In the game of the last two unbeaten teams, Canandaigua (9-0) was the last team standing but the Cougars had a strong second half at both ends of the field. Senior A/M Jett Richardsen scored the overtime, game-winning goal for the Royal Comets in this game that could not have been closer with eight ties. Greece took an early lead and held on for their one goal win. |

Topping the list is Canandaigua's 4-3 win at Brighton where neither team scored in the second half. Pittsford took an early lead and then never gave it up in the 8-6 win over visiting Irondequoit and Spencerport held Fairport scoreless in two quarters in their 7-3 win at home. Penfield scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and then coasted to their 11-7 win over visiting Schroeder. |

# 3306 Pal-Mac Comes Back and Wins First Title Since 2017 After appearing in the finals the last two seasons, Pal-Mac came into tonight’s game looking for their first win since 2017. The Red Raiders fought back hard with last four goals of the game to defeat HF-L 8-5. A key factor in that win was Red Raider goalie Will Nichols. He finished the game with nine saves, including six in the first half and was named the All Tournament MVP for Class C. |
