EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.

There were forty-one games played last week. There are Eighty-three out of section games scheduled and 11 were played last week. Section V teams have won 29 and lost 19 (60% wins). There is only one undefeated teams at this point: Pittsford at 10-0.

Looking Back

It was a week filled with individual milestones across the region. Geneva's Ryland Dunham reached 150 career goals on Tuesday, while a wave of players including Brighton's Austin Flaum, HF-L's Jackson Coon, Rush-Henrietta's Zachary Winner, McQuaid's Domenic Fairport at AquinasGiangreco, and HF-L's Nate Lathrop and James Sprague — all hit the 50-career goal mark at various points throughout the week. On the goalie side, Aquinas's Jake Gibson logged his 600th career save and Haverling's McLane Stermole recorded his 800th. Penfield's Brodie Joyce broke his program's all-time career assist record, while Geneva's Ryland and Jack Dunham each reached 50 career assists. Hunter Kurdziolek of Mynderse-Romulus was a standout performer, posting five goals in back-to-back games as his team earned its first win of the season.

On the team side, Pittsford remained the week's dominant force, improving to 9-0 with wins over Rush-Henrietta and Marcellus. Irondequoit delivered the most dramatic moment of the week, with Doug Velepec scoring in double overtime to edge McQuaid 9-8. McQuaid's John Burrows also came through in the clutch, scoring an overtime winner against Thomas and later posting five goals against Fayetteville-Manlius. Other highlights included Batavia-Notre Dame picking up its first win of the season and Canandaigua rallying with three fourth-quarter goals to edge Fairport. Penn Yan's Miles Ditzell led all individual scorers on Saturday with five goals in a dominant win over Ithaca.

SATURDAY - Saturday's schedule was packed with career milestones, as Pal-Mac's Jackson Dennie reached 50 career assists, Penn Yan's R-H at SchroederGreyson Hathway hit 500 career faceoff wins while ending Geneva's undefeated season 17-6, Victor's Eli Ricci also reached 500 career faceoff wins in a 9-6 win over Niskayuna, and L-A-G's Will Schweitzer scored his 50th career goal while goalie Ayden Szymanski hit 100 career saves in an 8-5 win over Brockport. On the coaching side, Spencerport's Coach Buttaro set the school record for career wins in a 16-2 win over Rush-Henrietta, Gates Chili picked up its first win of the season over Batavia-Notre Dame, and Canandaigua earned its first-ever win over Baldwinsville, while East Aurora rallied late to edge HF-L 12-11 in the day's closest game.

THURSDAY - Tonight's action across Section Five produced a full slate of milestones and memorable performances. Ayden Clark scored his 100th career goal in Marcus Whitman's 23-0 win over Gananda, while Jaxon Leonard's six-goal night led Churchville-Chili past Greece Storm, 10-4. Preston Jackson's seven goals powered Wayne at MynderseRush-Henrietta past Schroeder, 10-7, and Victor's Will Johnson and Irondequoit's Colin Giudice each reached the 50-goal milestone in the same game, with Victor winning 19-10. Midlakes' Carter Casper and James Sprague hit the 50-goal and 50-assist marks respectively in an 11-7 win over East United-Eastridge, and Pal-Mac's Jackson Dennie reached 50 career assists in a 20-0 shutout of Waterloo. Geneva stayed unbeaten at 7-0 with an 18-1 win over Newark, Hilton needed overtime to edge Canandaigua 12-11, and Livonia-Avon-Geneseo's Rider VanZandt hit 400 career faceoff wins in a 14-7 non-league win over Mynderse-Romulus.

WEDNESDAY - There were no games played today. 

TUESDAY - Tuesday's action was packed with milestones and big performances across the region. Bloomfield-Honeoye's Brayden Arber Lakers at Waterlooreached 100 career goals with his program on nine goals in a 17-6 win over Newark, Penfield's Griffin Banister hit 50 career goals in a 17-2 win over Greece Storm, and Wayne's Shane Coleman reached the same mark in an 8-3 win at Mynderse-Romulus. Fairport coach Mike Torrelli picked up his 275th career win in a 16-6 decision at Rush-Henrietta, Geneva stayed unbeaten at 6-0 on six goals from Ryland Dunham, and Hilton rolled past East United-Eastridge 21-3 behind four goals from Lucas Grizzanti. Waterloo earned its first win of the season 20-2 at Gananda with four first-time scorers, and Canandaigua put up 18 goals against Gates Chili with 13 different scorers and a perfect 18-for-18 at the faceoff X.

Players of the week were also announced. Honored were junior Hilton attackman Gianluca Auriuso and senior goalie  Ayden Szymanski  from Livonia-Avon-Geneseo.

MONDAY - Monday's action featured Churchville-Chili's Jaxon Leonard reaching 200 career points in an 11-0 win over Brockport, where Leiston and Marra combined for a perfect afternoon in goal and first varsity goals went to Austin Gefell Greece at Penfieldand Logan Vujanovic. Pal-Mac's Max Hill posted five goals and five assists in a 15-10 win over Kenmore West in the programs' first meeting, and LAG extended its winning streak to five with a 16-6 win at Waterloo behind four goals and two assists from Rider VanZandt and first varsity goals from Connor Duryea, Daniel Hajtmar, and Colin Molinari.

Looking Ahead

There are lots of games this week, with the largest number on Saturday (12). Many are league games and many are expected to result in mismatches this week. Let's hope there are exciting surprises. Noteworthy games include:

On Monday there are four games including Penfield at Thomas and Orchard Park at Irondequoit.

On Tuesday games include Penn Yan at Canandaigua, L-A-G at B-H, and Haverling at Mynderse-Romulus.

On Wednesday there are currently nine games scheduled. Penfield at AquinasIrondequoit is at Churchville-Chili, Hilton is at Fairport, East is at Greece, Thomas is at Spencerport, and Victor is at Pittsford.

On Thursday games include Bloomfield-Honeoye at Mynderse-Romulus and Geneva at L-A-G.

On Friday you may want to check out the Saints at Rush-Henrietta, Fairport at Spencerport, Brighton at Aquinas and Canandaigua at Penfield.

On Saturday the week wraps up with a dozen games including BVille at Victor, F-M at Pittsford, L-A-G at HFL, and Hilton at West Genesee.

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Pittsford stayed perfect at 10-0 with a 15-4 win at Brighton as Cole Goetz hit his 50th career goal and Brighton's Tim Tourangeau recorded his 50th career assist; Fairport used ten goal-scorers to beat Aquinas 14-3 while Logan Fpt at AQSchimmel reached 150 career saves; Thomas extended its winning streak over Hamburg to nine with a 14-7 win; and Batavia-Notre Dame beat Newfane 7-2 for their first two-win season since 2017, with both goalies picking up their first career varsity assist.

HAMBURG-7 at THOMAS-14 - Thomas topped Hamburg 14-7 on Friday night in a non-league game, extending its winning streak against the Bulldogs to nine in a row. The win moves Thomas to 6-4 on the season, while Hamburg falls to 3-4.

Junior midfielder Lucas Nuccotelli led Thomas with four goals, while senior attackman Charlie Repman added three. Sophomore midfielder Jake Nicolay contributed one goal and five assists, and midfielder Lucas Estelle chipped in two goals and one assist. Single goals came from Blake Jipson, Aiden Pashalidis, Carter Chase and Jonah Jobson. In goal, sophomore Eli Van Schaffel went 5 saves on nine shots (56%) in 12 minutes, and senior Joshua Jobson handled the remaining 36 minutes with six saves on nine shots (67%). No stats were available for Hamburg at post-time.

FAIRPORT-14 at AQUINAS-3 - Fairport used a balanced attack to beat Aquinas 14-3 on Friday night in a non-league game, moving to 5-4 on the season. Ten different Red Raiders found the back of the net, and the faceoff unit was sharp all night, winning 19 of 21 draws. Aquinas falls to 5-5.

Sophomore midfielder Marco Provenzano led Fairport with three goals and two assists, while senior attackman Ryan Priddy added two goals and two assists. Sophomore attackman Grant Ralston had one goal and one assist. Also scoring were Aleksander Buczek (two goals), and Jack Gosiewski, Liam Brunskill, Alex Nadelen, CJ Trumble, Ryan Knapp and Matt Haugh with one goal each. In goal, sophomore Luke Temple made five saves on eight shots (63%) over 48 minutes. On faceoffs, senior Corey Roeser went 10 for 10, senior Ryan Knapp went six for six, and junior Cameron Miller went three for four.

For Aquinas, freshman midfielder Kellan Campe had one goal and one assist, senior midfielder Cam Stewart and senior defenseman Caleb Wood each scored, and senior attackman Jack Bell added an assist. In goal, senior Logan Schimmel reached a career Fpt at AQmilestone with his 150th career save, finishing 13 saves on 26 shots (50%) over 41 minutes.

PITTSFORD-15 at BRIGHTON-4 - Undefeated Pittsford stayed at 10-0 with a 15-4 Monroe County D-2 win at Brighton on Friday night, extending its winning streak against the Barons to six games. A milestone was reached along the way as junior Cole Goetz scored his 50th career goal, and eight different players found the back of the net for the Panthers.

Junior Grant Lewis paced Pittsford with four goals and three assists, while senior Avery Fpt at AQValenti added three goals and two assists. Trevor Nally contributed two goals, and single goals came from Cole Goetz, Griffin Goetz, Jack Healy, freshman Keegan Jacob and Ben Zombek. On faceoffs, freshman Keegan Jacob went 13 for 16 and senior Peter Roussell went six for six. In goal, freshman Bear Wehrheim made eight saves on eleven shots (73%) over 40 minutes.

For Brighton, goals came from sophomore Kiki Condon, senior Ben Marangola, junior long stick midfielder Max Zwas and seventh grader Red Wolk. Junior Tim Tourangeau and freshman Jimmy Kazel each added an assist, with Tourangeau's helper being his 50th career assist. In goal, senior Logan Serve made 16 saves on 31 shots (52%) over 46 minutes.

NEWFANE-2 at BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME-7 - Batavia-Notre Dame picked up its second win of the season Friday night, topping Newfane 7-2 in a non-league game at VanDetta Stadium. The victory gives the Blue Devils their first two-win season since 2017, moving them to 2-3. No stats were available for Newfane (0-7) at post-time.

Junior attackman Nolan Radley carried the offensive load for Batavia-Notre Dame with four goals, and senior midfielder Harold Mellander added two goals and two assists. Senior long stick midfielder Aiden Kopper chipped in two assists, while senior midfielder Trey Rodriguez added one goal. Notably, both senior goalie Branden Flanagan and junior goalie James Rachow each recorded their first career varsity assist. In goal, Flanagan was solid with six saves on eight shots (75%) over 48 minutes.

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Although the majority of games ended in mismatches, there were a couple of exciting games. Topping the list is Canandaigua's 4-3 win at Brighton where neither team scored in the second half. Pittsford took an early lead and then never gave it up in the 8-6 win over visiting Irondequoit and Spencerport held Fairport scoreless in two quarters in their 7-3 win at home. Penfield scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and then coasted to their 11-7 win over visiting Schroeder.

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the first minute of the game Victor scored two goals against Fairport and cruised to a 19-2 win at Fairport in their season opener.  Sam Ricci dominated at the faceoff X, winning 16 of 17 (94%). Marcus Whitman won their first game of the season in a good game with Gananda. A couple of goals before the half was the difference as Livonia-Avon defeated Pal-Mac 8-6. Other winners, most in not so close games were Wayne, Aquinas, Pittsford, Irondequoit and Thomas.
