Junior midfielder Austin Fingar dominated the game finishing with 7g-1a. He also led his team with 12 ground balls. |
# 671 Caz Takes Out Mustangs in Semis *+Cazenovia scored four of the first five goals to take a strong lead into their State Semi-Final match against Penn Yan. The Lakers defeated the Mustangs 9-5 and will move on to play Cold Spring Harbor this Saturday at Vestal High School. Cazenovia played a more consistent game. They showed their skill with second and third attempts at the ball. On a number of plays they lost the initial ground ball and then came at the ball even stronger to re-take possession on the second or third attempt. This held true with most statistics including face-offs, shots, and clears. Although multiple Lakers had strong games, there were stand out performances from face off midfielder Peter Burr, attackman PJ Brown and goalie Brenden Whalen. Burr, Brown and Whalen exemplified the type of play that we all hope to see. |
# 650 2015 Season Wrap Up Section V lacrosse lost a team during the season (Avon) to low numbers and injuries so the Section ended the season with thirty-five team. The session ended with just under 1, 500 Varsity boys playing. The good news is that Avon hopes to be back for the 216 season. |

It is an effort by the Lacrosse Committee and the coaches of Section Five to identify some of the top players among the over 1,100 varsity players in the section this year. Nominations for the lists came from Head coaches, administrators and SportsFive personnel. This year 15 players were selected for the first team, 13 players for second team and this year, 12 players on the third team. Our six All Americans automatically make the first team. All players on this list must first be named to their first team All-League teams or be from Independent teams. |

Penn Yan led 4-1 after the first quarter and then scored seven more to enter the half-time break up 11-3. Slowing the pace a bit in the third they led 14-5 before finishing the game at 17-6. |
