Thursday: Storms

A number of games were impacted by thunder storms in the afternoon and evening. Section Five and NYS rules require that players and spectators be removed from the field when lighting is seen or thunder heard. There must be a period of 30 minutes without thunder or lightning before play may be resumed. Full Story

Tuesday: Fairport!

Can you spell D-a-n-y-l-y-s-h-y-n ? Fairport junior attackman Mike Danylyshyn scored the first five goals for Fairport and added one more to lead the Red Raiders to a 9-6 win at Penfield in this premiere Monroe County match up. Full Story

Monday: Three Games

There were three games scheduled for Monday. The early game was won my Gates Chili, 15-6 over Greece Athena/Odyssey. The late games were Newark at Canandaigua and Pebble Hill (Section 3) at Mynderse. Full Story

Seven games were scheduled for Saturday and four of them were planned for the new turf field at Waterloo High School. Many games seemed to fall as expected.   Full Story

Friday: Conclusion

There were two unfinished games on Tuesday and they were concluded today in two different ways. On Tuesday, Rush-Henrietta was ahead 5-0 when the game was suspended just before the half. When the game was finished today, the Royal Comets had won 15-3. The Webster Schroeder game was not finished, but ended by agreement, and the Warriors were declared the 10-3 winner.  Full Story

Thursday: Some Close Some Not

Night games were played today. Some games, like Mynderse over Midlakes in overtime, Spencerport over Hilton and McQuaid Jesuit over Brighton were close, some, however were not. Full Story

Tuesday: Cold again - Suspensions

It turned back to winter today, with temperatures in the low 30's and heavy snow at some sites. Full Story

Monday: Aquinas, McQuaid Jesuit Win

Two games were played today. Aquinas was the 16-3 winner over Haverling and McQuaid Jesuit, with a three goal spree won at Canisius (Section 6). Full Story

Two games were played out of the Section Friday, and the Pittsford was the 12-3 winner in a rain soaked game at host Sweet Home (Section 6).  Full Story

Thursday: Four Games

 Livonia (2-0) scored took early control with two goals, the first by senior midfielder Scott Mosher at 11:24 and the second by junior midfielder Adam Schaible at 11:03. The Thunder came back at 3:57 when senior attackman Dave Rodrigues scored on a feed from junior attackman Jared Bennett.  Full Story

Wednesday: Out of Section Teams Win Two Games

Two games were played out of the Section yesterday, and both wwere home team wins as Victor fell to Amherst 9-4 and Pittsford lost to CNS 11-5.  Full Story

Inside Lacrosse has West Genesee in the number one spot in the National High School Poll but Penn Yan played a close game and, in fact was down 6-5 with just over 4:00 left in the game. Full Story

Schroeder over HFL

Webster Schroeder took a 6-1 half-time lead and finished 9-2 over HFL at a game played at Irondequoit High School on Sunday afternoon. The first quarter ended with the Warriors up 2-1, and the defense then held the Cougars off until they scored in the last quarter.tanza made ten Saves. Full Story

Saturday: We Begin on Turf

Churchville scored the only goal in the first quarter when junior attackman Ben Rossignolo scored at 4:40 on a pass from junior middie Brian Traugott. At the start of the second quarter Spencerport's senior middie, Tyler Hintz scored the first of his three goals at 9:10 to tie the scored at one. The Saints went ahead at 8:27 when Rossignolo scored (unassisted), but that would be their last goal until the final quarter as the Rangers scored the next seven goals at game played at Monroe Community College. Wednesday: First Game of the Year

Haverling Haverling had the honor of this first game of the new season as they traveled to Corning West who won the contest 16-2. The Vikings, who scored 13g in the first half also won 14 faceoffs in the opener for both teams.  Full Story

2006 Lacrosse Preview

Penn Yan may be one of the smallest schools playing lacrosse in Section Five but it is one of the best in the State and although their reserved and cautious Head Coach, Brian Hobart, might not like to talk about it, the Mustangs are ready to pursue a real campaign for another Class C New York State Title.
