Penn Yan won their twenty-second Section Five Title (seventh consecutive) with a 13-6 win over Waterloo. The Mustangs scored the first four goals and held the Indians scoreless for the entire first quarter. Waterloo scored four of the last five goals to pull the score closer than the game played. A key component to the Mustang victory was midfielder Connor Fingar at the face-off draw. Fingar won nearly all the face-offs and was named Class D All Tournament MVP. Full Story |
Victor Heading to States for Fourth Straight Year |

Victor won their fourth consecutive (and sixth overall) Section Five Title tonight with a 13-4 win over Canandaigua. The Blue Devils have reached the finals five straight times, with their loss four years ago against Canandaigua in overtime 11-10 (HERE). Tonight, the Blue Devils scored the first five goals and continued to hold at minimum a four goal lead the remainder of the game. Full Story |

Penn Yan started out the final day of sectional play with their 22nd Championship as they defeated Waterloo 13-6. It was the seventh in a row for the Mustangs as Austin Blumbergs scored 5g-2a and Connor Fingar added 3g-2a. Pittsford won their fifth Section Five Championship with a 9-5 win over Fairport. The Panthers won their last Championship in 2015 with an 11-6 win over Penfield (HERE). Pal-Mac Wins First Sectional Title |

Pal-Mac won their first even Section Five Championship with a 16-11 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima. The Red Raiders lead for nearly the entire game. The Cougars took an early lead; however, Pal-Mac took over late in the first quarter and slowly increased their lead for the remaining three quarters. The head Coaches of Section Five meet last week to listen to the presentations of thirty players who had been nominated for All-American and All-Academic awards. In a game were the score was closer than the contest, Victor defeated Brighton 13-9. The Blue Devils had an 8 goal lead in the fourth quarter (13-5), before Brighton scored the final five goals. The Barons kept the game close earlier, before Victor began to slowly pull away. The Blue Devils held Brighton scoreless for 19 minutes spanning the entire third quarter. May 27, 2017 - Third seeded Canandaigua scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed in their 16-8 win over tenth seeded Churchville-Chili. After defeating the seventh (Ath/Ody) and second (Thomas) seeds, the Saints fell to the Braves. Churchville-Chili kept the game close for a half, before Canandaigua held them scoreless in the third quarter and extending their lead to 12-5. Full Story |

The 2017 championship matchups are now set after the semi finals in the Class B and Class D tournaments. The only "bracket brake" was Waterloo`s (#4) victory over top seeded Gananda in the Class D semifinals. Top seeded Victor won their contest with Brighton and Canandaigua (#3) beat Churchville-Chili. Pittsford Makes Finals for 4th Straight Year |

Top seeded Pittsford defeated fourth seeded Hilton 13-5 in the first of the two back-to-back Semi-Final matchups played at Webster Thomas. The game was a close for the first half, before Pittsford scored five unanswered in the third quarter and pulled ahead. The Cadets scored the final goal of the game, but Pittsford scored eight unanswered goals, spanning the second through fourth quarters. Pittsford advances to the Finals for the sixth time in eight years (2 wins in 2015 and 2011; 3 losses in 2016, 2014 and 2010). Full Story |

Second seeded Fairport came to play and defeated Penfield 13-9. The Red Raiders scored the first four goals and held Penfield scoreless into the second quarter. The Patriots fought back hard for the entirety of the game, but never got closer than 2 goals. Fairport was led in scoring by TJ Hendricks with 4g-2a. Jake Bucci (4g-1a) and Spencer Bell (3g-1a) also added significant scoring for the Red Raiders. Fairport advances to the Finals for the sixth time in nine years (3 wins in 2014, 2012, 2010 and 2 losses in 2011 and 2009). They have not reached the finals since their win over Pittsford in 2014. Tenth seeded Churchville-Chili held off the late press by second seeded Webster Thomas to defeat the Titans 15-14. In the biggest upset in many years, Churchville-Chili (#10) beat Webster Thomas (#2) 15-14 in a quarter final matchup tonight. The Class A tournament bracket held as Hilton (#4) defeated Greece Lightning and Penfield (#3) beat Rush-Henrietta (#6). Nine different Cadets made the scorebook, led by Jordan DePetres with 3g-1a. With one exception, the brackets played out as seeded on the first day of the 2017 tournaments. In the Class B, Irondequoit beat McQuaid. Gananda took over the lead in the second quarter and never let go. The Blue Panthers defeated Gates Chili 16-14. It was senior night at Gananda, the first three goals were all scored by seniors.
