Gananda used their game as a benefit to help support their former Head Coach Mike Pane in his battle against brain cancer. Aquinas continued their winning ways in a 5-3 win over Canisius and Waterloo won a non-league game against Batavia.

# 1259  Penn Yan Wins 22nd Title

Penn Yan won their twenty-second Section Five Title (seventh consecutive) with a 13-6 win over Waterloo.  The Mustangs scored the first four goals and held the Indians scoreless for the entire first quarter.  Waterloo scored four of the last five goals to pull the score closer than the game played.  A key component to the Mustang victory was midfielder Connor Fingar at the face-off draw.  Fingar won nearly all the face-offs and was named Class D All Tournament MVP.

The All Tournament Teams for 2017 were announced at each final. MVPs for A and C were Colby Barker (Pittsford) and James Blazey (Pal-Mac). In the Class B, the award went to Andrew Russell (Victor) and in the class D it went to Connor Finger (Penn Yan).

Webster Thomas took their first lead with an overtime goal from Colin Horan in the second overtime period to defeat Penn Yan 9-8. The Mustangs led for major portions of the game and had a three goal lead with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Thomas scored the final four goals of the match-up to force overtime and take the win.

Gananda took over the lead in the second quarter and never let go.  The Blue Panthers defeated Gates Chili 16-14.  It was senior night at Gananda, the first three goals were all scored by seniors.  Alex Buchko scored the opening goal 0:52 into the game with Jacob Thomas and Ryan Finnegan adding the next two.

Gananda took an early 3-0 lead on their way to an 11-10 victory over Pal-Mac. Although the Blue Panthers held a 3 goals lead twice in the first half (3-0 and 5-2) the game was tied at 5-5 at the half. In the second half the score was tied each step of the way with both teams taking turns leading.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2016 season. Senior defenseman, Dylan Joy from Gananda was selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" was Thomas Knapp from Wayne. The "Attackman of the Year" was Jon Ecker from Wayne and Wayne Head Coach Eric Carlsen was named Coach of the Year. Mike Denely from Bloomfield-Honeoye was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Mark Crane from Mark`s Pizzeria was named Man of the Year.
