# 3503  Pal-Mac and HFL win for trip to the Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were four games played today and one was a close one. In Class C, Pal-Mac (#1) was a 4-3 winner over Livonia-Avon. They will Play HFL (#2) who beat Geneva today. In Class D Aquinas (#1) beat Marcus Whitman and will play Penn Yan (#2) who beat Mynderse today.

LIVONIA-AVON-3 at PAL-MAC-4 - Pal-Mac stepped up in the fourth quarter to defeat Livonia-Avon 4-3.  In a game that was plagued with penalties, the teams both had multiple attempts at extra-man offense.  The Red Raiders converted on two of their attempts while the Lakers could not convert on any of their attempts.  The man-down defense for Pal-Mac was a key factor of their win.  Livonia-Avon's junior goalie Colton Rose was stellar in the cage.  He finished with 12 recorded saves with many saves being amazing displays of athleticism.  Offensively, for the Red Raiders, Keagan Hoesterey was the standout with a hand in every goal of the night.  He finished with 3g-1a.... MYNDERSE-3 at PENN YAN-14 - Second seeded Penn Yan (12-5) has won every game with Mynderse since 2003 so winning was not a great surprise, but this year, Mynderse (11-7) had a greatly improved season and so the score was a little disappointing for the Blue Devils. Leading the scoring for Penn Yan were Braden Fingar (4g-2a), Tukker Fisher (5g), and Teagan Fingar (2g-2a). Penn Yan goalie Aiden Griffiths recorded 6s/2ga = 75% (42 mins). Scoring for Mynderse were junior attackman Griffin Hilimire (1g), senior midfielder Carson Montoney (1g), junior attackman Jack Brady (1g), and senior attackman Lucas Stevers (1a).            [ BOX SCORE] 

GENEVA-5 at HFL-17 - Eight different players scored goals for HFL(16-2) including Grady Goodberlet (5g), Chase Perryman (4g-1a), Quinn Kailbourne (3g-1a), Owen Smith (1g-3a), and senior face off midfielder Drew Angelo (1g-1a)who won 16+/8- = 67%.  There was no report from Geneva (13-5) at post-time. MARCUS WHITMAN-6 at AQUINAS-17 - The dominating Aquinas offense scored thirteen goals in the first half. Leading the scoring for Aquinas (13-5) were Noah Olbrich (5g-4a), Jake Guggino (4g-4a), and Tano Auriuso (5g-1a). In the goal for Aquinas was sophomore Logan Schimmel who made 3s/1ga = 75% (10 mins), and freshman Phil Wegman with 1s/0ga = 100% (2 mins) and Jake Gibson with 2s/5ga (36 mins). # 3499  Quarters: All Top Seeds Move on Except One

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - There were 7 games played today and all of them were won by the high seeded teams except for one. In Class C, Livonia-Avon, HFL, and Geneva will join Pal-Mac who had a bye in the quarters. In Class D, Aquinas, Marcus Whitman, Penn Yan and Mynderse won their games. Marcus Whitman (#5) defeated Bloomfield-Honeoye (#4) 10-6.

NEXT UP for Class C: Livonia-Avon (#4) vs Pal-Mac (#1) and Geneva (#3) vs HFL (#2) on Wednesday.

MIDLAKES-RED JACKET-8 at MYNDERSE-19 - Nine different players scored goals for Mynderse (11-6) including  Griffin Hilimire (7g-5a), senior midfielder Dylan Tandle (3g-1a), and junior attackman Jack Brady (3g-0a).  There was no report from Midlakes-Red Jacket (6-11) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE] 

NEWARK-3 at GENEVA-19 - Geneva extended their winning streak to nine wins (13-4) as nine different players scored goals including Freshman midfielder Alex Pesante who scored his first Varsity goal, sophomore attackman Ryland Dunham (8g), senior midfielder Jeremy Askin (1g-2a), junior midfielder Max Heieck (2g-1a), freshman attackman Jack Dunham (2g-1a), and freshman midfielder Max Delgado (2a). Askin won 15+/1- = 94%, and freshman Alex Pesante won 7+/3- = 70%. Geneva goalie Paul Williams had 7s/3ga = 70% (48 mins). Scoring for Newark (6-10) were sophomore attackman John Camblin (2g), sophomore offensiveman Sam Underhill (1g-1a), and senior attackman Devon Bulman (1a). Others on the offensive list include senior attackman Chase Perryman (1g-3a), senior midfielder Rowan Lyle (3g-1a), freshman attackman Grady Goodberlet (3g), junior offensiveman Mathew Brassie (2g-1a), senior midfielder Zack Zollo (2g-1a), and senior face off midfielder Drew Angelo (2g) who won 2+/0- = 100%, and junior Carsen Montone with 15+/6- = 71%. WAYNE-9 at LIVONIA-AVON-14 - The Lakers scored four goals in each of the first three quarters while in their goal junior goalie Colton Rose (13s/9ga = 59% ) recorded his 200th save in a single season which is a record for the Lakers. Leading the scoring for Livonia-Avon (10-7) were 8th grade offensiveman Brayden Arber (5g), junior offensiveman Max McEnerney (3g-2a), sophomore offensiveman Nikolai Hanna (2g-1a), and junior offensiveman Henry Walters (2g). MARCUS WHITMAN-10 at BLOOMFIELD-HONEOYE-6 - In the single upset of the tournament so far, the Wildcats had a five goal second quarter that made the difference. This dispite a three-goal surge by the Pride in just under two minutes in the last quarter took them within two goals. Leading the scoring for Marcus Whitman (8-9) were sophomore midfielder Tariku Blueye (4g), senior midfielder Melkamu Blueye (2g-1a), and senior attackman Teague Gallogly (2g). Facing off for Marcus Whitman was sophomore Cullen Kephart with 9+/8- = 53%. In the goal was sophomore Tyler Speers with 13s/6ga = 68% (48 mins). # 3409  Saturday: All Set for The Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - The teams are now complete for Tuesday and Wednesday nights at St. John Fisher University, where the 2023 Section V champions will be determined. In the Class B semi-finals, Irondequoit came out with the first three goals, but Victor came back with the win. In the second game at Pittsford Sutherland, in a close game that was not determined until the fourth quarter, Spencerport defeated Schroeder 6-4, sending the Rangers to their first Sectional finals. In Class D, Penn Yan scored four goals in the first quarter and led at the half 7-3 on their way to a 13-3 win over Marcus Whitman. Aquinas scored four goals in the first quarter and five in the second and led 9-2 at the half.

# 3403  Wednesday: Schroeder Takes Out Canandaigua

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - All of the quarterfinals in classes B and D were won by the higher seeded team except for # 7 Schroeder who, in a very low scoring close game, defeated #2 Canandaigua and will move on to play Spencerport in the semi-finals on Friday. Victor, who beat C-C will play Irondequoit, who beat Brighton. In Class D, Aquinas beat Haverling and will play Newark who beat Mynderse. Penn Yan beat Bloomfield-Honeoye and will play Marcus Whitman who beat Gananda.

# 3396  Saturday: Last Day of Regular Season - Rain

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - The golf event at Oak Hill was not the only program inconvenienced by the hard rain all day. The last six games of the regular season were played today. Bloomfield-Honeoye won their game with Brockport in "sudden victory". The Storm won their game with Gates Chili 9-4 and HFL beat Churchville-Chil 17-10,  but the four other games were mismatched.

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - There were fourteen games played and it was the last game of the regular season for some teams. The Blue Panthers held off a fourth quarter surge by the Pride and held on for the 13-12 win. Aquinas, likewise held off a last quarter surge by the Lakers, winning 12-10 and locking up the GRALL title. Thomas won the battle at Webster and Penn Yan had a shutout against Clarence.

Brighton won a close one at Irondequoit and East-United won a close one at Brockport. HF-L won a close one at Schroeder and Canandaigua won their game against Spencerport.
