2025 Preview: Brockport

Newark

In Pursuit of Victory

NewarkAs the new lacrosse season approaches, the Brockport Blue Devils are gearing up for what they hope will be a turnaround year. Coming off a challenging 2024 season with a record of 4-11, the team is determined to build on their experiences and showcase significant growth in 2025.

Reflections on 2024

Last year was a rollercoaster for the Blue Devils. While they managed to secure four wins, they also faced six tough losses by a margin of five or more goals, highlighting areas for improvement. Despite this, the team demonstrated resilience in closer matches, with five games decided by a margin of five goals or less. The heartbreaker of the season was undoubtedly the one-goal loss to Newark, but such experiences have only fueled their determination.

Key Players and Graduations

The team bids farewell to six senior graduates who left a lasting impact both on and off the field. Javier Benzan, Thomas Bruno, Cole Davis, Ethan DeWilde, Garrett Horne, and Gianni Oswald will be missed for their contributions and leadership.Newark

Strong Core of Returnees

One of the strengths of the upcoming season lies in the significant number of returning players. The Blue Devils will welcome back 83 goals (78% of last year's total) and 52 assists (88% of last year's total), providing a solid foundation for offensive strategies. This talented core, consisting of six rising seniors, seven juniors, and four sophomores, is expected to step up and fill the void left by the graduates. Among them are junior attackman Ryan Miller who led the team in offense last year with 55 points, sophomore attackman Mason Scott who led in ground balls (107) and takes (54) and senior A/M Tyler Houseman who added 15g-2a last year.

Coaching and Leadership

Under the guidance of Head Coach Jeffrey Jung, who is entering his second season, the team aims to harness their potential and translate it into victories. Coach Jung's experience and understanding of the team's dynamics will be pivotal in navigating the challenges of the upcoming season.Newark

Season Outlook

The Blue Devils have focused on refining their skills and strategies during the offseason. With an average of 7.1 goals per game last year and an average of 8.1 goals against, the team is aware of the areas requiring improvement. However, their tenacity and commitment to growth suggest they are ready to compete fiercely in Class C.

Upcoming Challenges

The 2025 schedule is set, and the Blue Devils are prepared to face familiar foes and new challenges. The lessons learned from last year's encounters with teams like Bloomfield-Honeoye, Newark, and Marcus Whitman will serve them well. This season, they aim to turn narrow losses into wins and solidify their standing in the league.

As the Brockport Boys Lacrosse team takes the field this pre-season, the community stands behind them, eager to witness their journey of growth and determination. With a mix of experienced returnees and promising new talents, the Blue Devils are poised for an exciting season ahead.
