The New York State Sportswriters Association lacrosse pollsters have selected nine teams from Section 5 in their May 5th list. In Class A it's Pittsford in #6 right below Ithaca. Fairport is in at #8, Penfield is ranked #17 just below Clarence of Section 6 and Webster Thomas made an honorable mention. West Islip (Section 11) tops the Class A list. They won the State Championship last year and have a winning streak of 34 as of May 5th.

In class B Irondequoit is listed at #7 just below Carthage (Section 3). Churchville-Chili comes in at #11 and Brighton takes an honorable mention. The top slot goes to Jamesville-DeWitt (Section 3). JD won the State Title last year and has a current winning streak of 35 as of May 5th.

Penn Yan is in the #3 position in Class C, with Geneva in at #11. Skaneateles (Section 3) takes the top place in Class C.
