# 3097 Penfield Wins in Overtime Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: It took overtime for Penfield to defeat The Panthers 12-11 tonight on the road. With Pittsford up 11-7 at the top of the fourth quarter but starting with 5:08 left in the game, Penfield scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 2:11 left. With 2:04 left in overtime, senior attackman Sam Cummings scored the game-winner with an assist from Jake Fox. Cummings ended the game with 4g and senior midfielder Chris Smith added 3g-2a. John Richiusa gave the Patriots lots of ball time as he won 23/27 faceoffs. Pittsford senior attackman Harrison Cross led scoring with 2g-2a and junior James Cook added 3g for the Panthers (2-2) who will play R-H on Wednesday. # 3057 Penfield has Thirty-Three Weapons Penfield has been playing in the Class A tournaments until this year when they dropped to Class B where there will be huge competition at tournament time. The Patriots will see a bunch of Class B teams during the regular season with interesting matchups with Canandaigua on May 12th, Thomas on May 19th and Victor two days later. They will open their season hosing West Genesee on May 1st. |
# 2913 Fairport Advances to Class A Finals Top seeded Fairport came out and strong and finished even stronger in their 11-6 win over fifth seeded Penfield. The Red Raiders came into tonight's contest looking for revenge from last season's 9-8 loss in the Championship matchup. The Patriots led that game for nearly the entire contest and held off a late advance by the Red Raiders. Tonight, the game was the opposite with Fairport taking control and the Patriots looking for the comeback. |
