Marcus Whitman Beats Pal-Mac in Double OT
Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were eight games played today and more mismatches, but the Pal-Mac at Marcus Whitman game broke that mold with a double overtime win for the Wildcats.
Marcus Whitman started with a 2-1 first quarter and the scoring was reversed in the second so that the teams were tied at 3-3 at the half. The Wildcats took a two-goal lead at the start of the third, but Pal-Mac came back with one leaving the score in favor of Marcus Whitman at 6-4 after three quarters. The Wildcats scored at 7:54 in the last quarter giving them a two-goal lead but on the next faceoff Quinn Nolan scored from the draw and less than two minutes later he scored again to tie the game at 6-6. In the first overtime both teams had control of an offensive set, but although Marcus Whitman did not get a shot on cage, Pal-Mac did and Wildcat senior goalie Robert Craine (10s/6ga=63% in 56 mins) made a big save. The game progressed to the second overtime where senior midfielder Aidan Royston scored the game winner for the Wildcats at 1:26. Royston had 2g along with Connor Tomion and Connor Gorton had 1g-2a for Marcus Whitman (9-1). For Pal-Mac, Nolan had 2g-2a and won 14/15 draws. Greece senior midfielder Dylan Young scored his first varsity goal tonight as the Storm beat Bishop Kearney 20-10 at Olympia. Junior faceoff specialist Riley Maier won 17/21 of his draws and Logan Yates (5g-2a) led the list of nine players on the offensive book. Luke Strong and Nicholas Leonardi each added 4g-2a for Greece (5-5). There was no report from Bishop Kearney (0-4) at post time.[BOX SCORE]
Matthew Connor (2g-1a) scored the first goal of the game for Livonia-Avon and the Lakers stayed in the lead for the rest of the game, beating Haverling 16-12 at Livonia tonight. Jackson McEnerney and Justin Skelly both had 5g-2a and Derrick Wigley added 3g-4a while goalie Matt Beachel made 14s/12ga (54%) for the Lakers (8-3). Jamie O`Neil was the leader for bath with 2g-6a (taking his season record to 31g-41a). Hunter Cupp won 18/27 faceoffs for the Rams (4-4). [BOX SCORE]
Griffin Emerson (1s) and Wil Thompson (3s) split time in the Penn Yan goal and earn another shutout for the Mustangs as they defeated Waterloo 19-0. Ayden Mowry scored 5g-1a, Mekhi Mahan had 4g-2a and nine others made the book for the Mustangs (8-0). There was no report from Waterloo at post time. [BOX SCORE]
A dozen players from Wayne earned points this afternoon as the Eagles won their game with Bloomfield-Honeoye 14-0. Andy Hamel had 3g and goaltenders Jack Acker (3s/1ga=75%) and Dylan Coene (5s/1ga=84%) had most of the goal-time for Wayne (7-3). Max Willix scored 3g for the Pride. The score was 5-4 at the half in favor of Newark and after adding another five goals in the secod half the Red defeated Midlakes-Red Jacket 10-5 this afternoon in Newark. Senior attackman Bryson Croft led the scoring with 3g-1a and Preston Steve added 2g-1a while goaltender Caleb George Cady made 9s/5ga (64%) for Newark. Geneva won their game with Gananda 14-4 this afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Garrett Kayser recorded 6s/4ga (50%) and nine offensive players had points in the game. Aiden Eighmey had 2g-4a and Kaleb Waters had 4g for the Panthers (7-3). Gananda goalie Gavin Britton recorded 17s/14ga (55%) and Drew Smith scored 2g for the Blue Panthers. [BOX SCORE]
Joey Sciorino scored the first of his 4g-2a at the start of the game and Aquinas never looked back as they beat Mynderse 13-4 today. Angelo Palumbo led Aquinas scoring with 6g-1a and he won 13/14 faceoffs (93%) while Gavin Conlan recorded 10s/4ga (71%) in the goal. Freshman midfielder Dylan Tandle scored 1g-1a and three others added one goal each for the Blue Devils. [BOX SCORE]
