Thursday: Penfield Beats Irondequoit in OT, Fairport over WG

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - There were five games played today and two were very exciting ones. Penfield came from behind to win their game with Irondequoit in overtime and Fairport used three goals in the last stanza to defeat West Genesee. Hilton was a winner over visiting Wayne and Schroeder and Pittsford lost to Section III team.

Penfield vs IrondequoitFAIRPORT-9 at WEST GENESEE-7 - The Red Raiders led after the first quarter 3-2 and 6-4 at the half, but the Wildcats came back with two unanswered goals in the third to tie the score at six. The game was won in the fourth quarter when Fairport outscored West Genesee 3-1. 

Scoring for Fairport (2-1) were sophomore midfielder Mitchell Monte (4g), junior A/M Sam Pucci (4g), senior midfielder Bobby Cameron (1g-1a), and junior midfielder Jack DuBose (1a). Facing off for Fairport was freshman Marc Hillier with 11+/5- = 69%. In the goal for Fairport was sophomore Luke Ryan with 12s/7ga = 63% (48 mins). Fairport is at Thomas on Tuesday night.

Penfield vs IrondequoitPENFIELD-11 at IRONDEQUOIT-10 - There were five ties in the exciting game at Irondequoit. The Eagles scored the first goal of the game, but Penfield scored three in a row to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter. Trading goals in the second quarter, Irondequoit pulled ahead outscoring Penfield 4-2 and the half ended with the teams tied at 5-5. The Eagles scored four more in the third quarter and held the Patriots to two, giving them a 9-7 lead after three quarters. Down 10-8 with a minute and a half left in the game, junior midfielder Adam Schembri(3g) scored  and then with 0:41 left assisted on a goal by senior midfielder Derek Torres(2-1) sending the game into overtime. In the second overtime period Ethan Aust (4g-2a) scored game winner on an assist by Brodie Joyce.

Scoring for Penfield (3-0) were Aust (4g-2a), Schembri (3g), (2g-1a), freshman attackman Brodie Joyce (3a), and junior attackman Zach Shores (1g-1a). Senior attackman Timothy Sercu scored his first Varsity goal for the Patriots. Goalie stats were not available for Penfield who will host Gates Chili on Tuesday.

Wayne at HiltonLeading the scoring for Irondequoit (1-1) were junior midfielder Jonah Carrier (3g-1a), junior offensiveman Oliver Grisdale (3g-0a), and senior midfielder Dan Buckley (1g-1a). Facing off for Irondequoit was junior Jonah Carrier with 24+/2- = 92%. Carrier won his 200th career faceoff (now 220). WAYNE-9 at HILTON-15 - In their first time playing Wayne, Hilton took a 6-1 lead in the fist quarter and led 7-2 at the half.

Scoring for Wayne (1-3) were senior offensiveman Nate Michel (4g), senior A/M Izak Krajeski (2g-2a), junior midfielder PJ Ostrowski (3g), and sophomore A/M Mason Michel (1a).  There was no report from Hilton (2-2) at post-time although it was reported that Sophomore FOGO Drew O`Buck and junior Luke Schindler each scored their first Varsity goal.   [ BOX SCORE] - - More images in the photo gallery

Wayne at HiltonPITTSFORD-9 at FAYETTEVILLE-MANLIUS-14 - Pittsford could not overcome a 10-5 half although they did score four in the third and got as close as 11-9. Scoring for Pittsford (3-1) were junior A/M Ian Erskine (3g), senior attackman Rex Kesselring (2g-1a), sophomore attackman Brady Goetz (1g-2a), senior midfielder Jackson Green (1g-1a), and senior midfielder Ben Steingass (1g). Goalie stats were not reported. The Panthers are at West Genesee on Saturday.

Wayne at HiltonSCHROEDER-10 at LIVERPOOL-17 - Liverpool led 5-2 after the first quarter and 10-5 at the half, before outscoring Schroeder 7-5 in the second half. Leading the scoring for Schroeder (2-1) were junior midfielder Anthony DeRosa (4g-1a), senior midfielder Colton Ugine (2g-2a), and junior attackman Nate Schilling (1g-2a). Junior defenseman Blake Preston scored his first Varsity goal. Facing off for Schroeder was senior Drew Pagano with 3+/2- = 60%. Casey Berns had sixteen saves for the Warriors who will play at HF-L on Tuesday night
